If it Isn't fun, you're doing it wrong.
I feel like they forgot this key-point right here.
Commenting so someone sees this.
A boring grind for outdated gear IS NOT FUN
Seeing Minfilia on that slide makes me miss her and her babies. #GetMinfiliaBack
you realize that for see if a reward is good you need to add time, effort into the balance. here for get the relic weapon, you will need to gather an amout of protean that are insane and is not even the last step, in 1hr30 i did get 7! because it's totally random...
plus we are not sure that the weapon is that desirable, since well it's fairly possible that it's only a 350 soo far... like the armor.
the trouble here is i feel they have added step that was means for the 4.1... that why we do get 3 upgrade to do before reach the relic weapon really.
you do have grind the same item that can drop from any monster (means you can decide to farm always the same monster without go anywhere else) for upgrade the weapon (and armor) from 290>335>340>345>350.... someone did point out that it recquire more of 4300 protean.... insane... if my luck remain like this... i will need more of 614 time 1hr 30 minutes for get this done... meaning more of 900 hours... means about 38 day of 24 hours of grind...insane.
by the way i have a life next to the game, like a loooooot of people, then at best ,i can play 2-4 hours max per day... i still have my cap and raiding to do... where i'm means to find enough time to grind this mess?
that why i say the reward is not there, because the effort/time/reward ratio is horrible, i will go a bit farer, it's almost as messy that EA way for the progression of star war battlefront (without the payed lootbox) it was too recquiring tons of time spend in the game for get all the reward.
ps: the best it's this time needed is only for 1 job!
Quality shade. +1
I think it became incredibly apparent that something got lost in translation when they added the little promotion for Yokai to the game the first time, though. It wasn't fun, wasn't amazing/unique/good, and didn't do a good job of presenting either series in a positive light. So naturally they ran it a second time for good measure.
not really defending the sysetm but, with a party of 4-5 got about 25+ in about 1 hour, the rate seems to be higher with a party (note the enemies were lv 5) also you get a sure crystals once you get 30 chain (also the guy in the camp is saying that chain increases quantity of drop, I suspect the lv 23 monsters will do that).
Take from this whatever you will
@alleo (limit posts) I've been receiving one at 30 constanstly from mobs lv 3+ maybe it's like 80% but definitively very high same goes with the friend I was in
What we have learned:
1. Nothing
2. Nothing
3. Nothing
4. yolo low budget poor and cheap design.
They learned nothing.
They don't listen to their NA/EU fans
By roots, they mean 2.0 formula on repeat til the game eventually dies.
GG.
There was someone on reddit that said that they get got no crystal when they had a 30 chain, so I am not sure if this is a 100% drop or if this is only a really high RNG increase. I also was in a party and we did have some 30 chain (cant remember if I always get a drop or not) but I would have not gotten that amount of drops in an hour since I had like only 6-7 after that.
Dunno about anyone else but farming the same mobs over the over again for hours a day for months to get a set of gear that is already out of date isn't my idea of fun. I feel that this was supposed to be released a couple of months ago and they never bothered to update the rewards or tweak it a bit to make it easier since the rewards are no where near worth the effort to acquire them.
I learned that things only become a problem to SE when the jpn playerbase has an issue with it.
This thread nails it exactly. Square needs to stop being lazy. After the launch of stormblood, theres been a huge content lull. The worse we've ever seen and what do we get? This poorly made and badly thought content that isn't even fun? What's the point of playing the game at this point? Square has been disappointing us at each turn with this expansion. Not only that, they claimed that the zones are bigger than heavensward areas and they're about the same size. We were promised that balance was going to be great in exchange we sacrificed having an extra job and the balance is STILL bad. (RIP Dark Knight and hello to Dragoon support). I feel like Square has been cheesing this expansion hard.
This thread almost made me smile, but then it made me really sad :(
Haha exactly! I was really amazed that they managed to introduce something like this after such a long delay..
@SE: Maybe its time to stop thinking what you want for the game and start asking the playbase as a whole with ingame surveys..
Sorry had to post it this way since I reached the daily limit again (somehow..). Well they could simply ask every player about their opinion after they released new content. Maybe even with a way to give suggestions and wishes. Its not like they have to follow them but its still way better than never asking at all. And honestly if the majority wants content to be a certain way..wouldnt it be bad for SE to ignore that?
But we're sure it will eventually be since in the end it will be the most poweful weapon in the game, so it's an investment.
And the armor might also be more powerful than the Savage one in the end.
If that was the case and every player participate, you'd end with a majority asking for less challenge and faster rewards. Be careful what you wish for.
I'm concerned.
I've always defended the dev team and as someone who lives in relatively poor country, monthly sub for an MMO is a bit of a luxury. And yet, it's the only game I play and only game I've spend money on because when I started I felt as a player that I was part of a family. When I saw the history of 1.0, I felt like FF14 had heart and soul to it. I still want to support this game for what it gave me - warm fuzzy feelings, inspiration, friends and many good moments worth every penny.
Lately however, I feel like the dev team is beginning to repeat the 1.0 mistake - they think we'll play and keep on playing whatever poorly designed content they give us just because we are so loyal to the FF14's name.
And so... seeing this image on the OP's post is a little heartbreaking. I'm concerned but hope for better changes ahead. :(
Frankly, I'd say they only repeat 2.x mistakes. Having such a predictable and rigid content pacing prevents them from doing anything "new" (In regards to FFXIV, not necessarily new to MMOs), and remove any involvement you have in builing your gear, since you know it will be crap 6 months later.
SE took a flawed MMO "with heart and soul" and made it a successful bland fast-food game.
What I've learned is that this forum is apparently full of people who can design and build the perfect MMO that will satisfy absolutely every single player with every piece of content in the game o.O
While untrue, I do feel that good suggestions get lost in the chaos sometimes. There's a thread set aside for Eureka for suggestions specifically (preferably constructive, civil ones), so...it's a start. There are a few in that thread I think the devs should at least think about.
What have we learned?
SE can't design fun open world content.
This may sound crazy...but people have already given suggestions on how to make it better. If we can try something for a few hours and say what could be better why can't the developers? What made them think "oh killing just monsters is fine"?
- They could have daily/weekly quests
- Leves with lore to do with isle of val for people to do in parties which involves monsters with mechanics
- Chain fates which go a long the map
- NM spawning more often
- Monsters doing more than just a single aoe then auto attacking
- Provide more exp from mobs
- Defending settlements so we can perhaps build upon the map so people can get more benefits (buffs/damaging items/temp. mounts/etc)
- We have the elemental wheel and I noticed you can change them in combat yet no monster I have come across utilises this mechanics which could have been actually interesting needing to swap your element when the enemy does.
See how easy that was for me to list changes I would make to Eureka when I only played up to level 4? You don't need to be a perfect MMO developer to recommend features which are already in the game that could enhance the way it is played. When it comes to grind its about how well you can disguise it and putting all these different avenues allows people to pick how they want to approach the content and change when they feel like it. This will then appeal to both to people who want to grind mobs they can and those who prefer the way XIV approaches content can do it that way.
Instead they wasted 17 months designing a zone and forgot people will be doing content on this map they created. To put it simply this zone is wasted potential.
I'm not sure how anyone at SE could find this fun. It's so bad it actually made me bored of the content outside Eureka, which before I was ok with or I wouldn't be subbed. Now's the perfect time to take a break from the game, especially since Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (aka Dark Cloud meets Dynasty Warriors meets Studio Ghibli) comes out in a little over a week.
Turns out everyone has an issue with it, even JPN players. So hopefully something happens...
Agreed. Everything is largely instance based. No room for actual content out in the open world areas. Not that there is anything worth doing. Better to wait until they fix DRK and add enough content to keep me busy for a week at least before jumping back in to play.
You'd think they would learn to COMMUNICATE with their playerbase. Just sitting a group of players down and running this content/ concept by them(e.g. focus group), they'd have enough data within the first couple of minutes something is very wrong with how they're perceiving what their players actually want.
I mean within the first 30s of arriving on the island I saw Diadem vendors and had to call my therapist.
They need to look at #2 and 3 as well.

And this is what you call marketing. They only have to make you believe what will be designed will be fun and compelling, but they don't really have to deliver (they'd always be white knights to defend crappy content anyway, it's what we learned from FFXIV 1.0 alpha).
They Learned it for ARR and HW but forgot it again in SB.
