I expect it will be in the next letter, like he said it would be in the one that was released a few days ago.
I hope to see more beastman strongholds and more viable grind camps around the world for varying levels. a tonne more crafted gear, gear with activated abilities, a bazaar meld option!
I actually looked back last week to determine when the last time we actually got any substantial information about the game, and I have to agree with you that letter, which is 2 months old now, is the last substantial bit of information that we have received to date.
I was expecting another "Letter from the Producer" last Thursday or Friday. Alas, the one we recently received was NOT what I was hoping for.
Anyway, I sure hope to see something about something soon!
It really makes me wonder if they even have a poll. We were promised a poll after the last update, and I'm pretty sure it said the middle of January (I may be wrong). I just wish we could see actual info on the next patches and where are they at with 2.0, you know SOMETHING to give us a heads up on everything.
the real challenge for them is not to fulfill a time schedule,
but to maintain the hopes.
what will be much more difficult.
It's especially curious considering that the dev road map slated 1.21 for early February -- the first of which is next Wednesday.
Perhaps they'll save the next big projection for after 1.21?
They need to do a few more prayer offerings and take some more team photos for SE's Facebook before they start working on the player polls and quality producer letters. Oh and some more improper use of red ties. 1.21 will be delayed about a month because of this unfortunately...
"Early February" is a very loose translation that doesn't quite deliver the message. I recall at one point that "early month" can mean up to the 14th. I also remember Reinhart stating at one point that the initial "early February" was actually meant to be between the 1st and the 10th.
But, at this point all we can do is wait for the official word. We are pretty overdue for some kind of schedule update.
Goobbues are threatening the eorzean way of life and you want POLLS??
How about we find thename of this country so that we may ransack it with their goobbue hordes! Yes, surely the elementals will appreciate the irony.

He threw the letter!!!!!! Let's go get it!
well we all know that yoship and the devs are pulling some serious hours. especially now that we are paying for the game now. so maybe they are extremely busy getting 1.21 and 2.0 ready to be released on time that they haven't had the time to give us any info just yet. just a thought maybe? i dunno -_-
Well, IMO there is something else in there...it's not really like them, whose used to post here even if just to say someone farted at SE office, stay over a month silent...in special being the first month after billing start.
Also, another point is that the last 2 info we got actually were related to Yoshida's health, not the game...seeing the situation the game is right now, it would be a best time to step back due health issues..."force majeure" happens.
You see...in the current scenario, if he leave now he's already well known (he was a "no one" when he took over), if the FFXIV succeed it will automatically be because of the changes he started (regardless of what the person who take his place do) and if FFXIV fail it would automatically be because of the dude who took over his place (again, regardless of what the person who take his place do)...so it's a win-win scenario for him actually stepping back due health issues in the next months (of course...it would be something that require many more health updates, being a situation worth of another ~2 months).
So, in short, i wouldn't be surprised if he step back somewhere in the next 1-3 months due health issues since it's the perfect period to leave with a reputation intact regardless of what happen to FFXIV at 2.0 on. Who knows...Yoshida always were at DQ games, not FF...maybe they just wanted to build some fame here before moving him back to DQ since FF was always way more famous than DQ at occident, luring some of those FF fans who liked his work here to look foward to his next projects there too.
Yoshi is a important member of the team no doubt, however him being hospitalized for a fever should not detract from the games progress. Everyone on the FFXIV team knows their jobs and is probably busy at work without Yoshi.
I gave up waiting >.> Not in a bad way...I just mean I gave up expecting to see somethin new when I check forums everyday...it'll come when it comes I guess. Having played FFXI since release I am used to SE being late...so who knows..maybe sometime in Feb we will get some news :)
everyone can check the road map anytime they want what is the rush?
Hmm
1.20 came out on Dec.14th if I remember correctly. Today is Jan.27. It has been 44 days since 1.20, which makes it a month and 14 days since 1.20 was released.
Despite my terrible math skills, it hasn't been two months yet. However, everyone knows the routine, you should expect this from SE now and expect anything to happen. We are just now getting some fluff info regarding this stuff, so the 10th-14th is my guess.
The road map doesn't tell us what content is coming down the pipeline. Or confirm or renege what was said to be coming more than two months ago.
But that said, I was merely noting the milestone. No real rush. There's really nothing we can do but wait. But it's nice to talk about something other than the oddly polarizing issue of Goobbues.
And to be fair, there's a lot SE can be teasing to whet or apatites. Like job equipment stats. Tid bits of story around the two new dungeons. If we're really getting player housing and all that entails. Goldsmith recipes. Alchemy recipes. What Hamlet defense will be like (please be a little more Campaign and a little less Behest!). What the new GC promotion exams will entail. Their plans for "rules for overlapping crowd control actions." HQ gear attribute enhancements. Changes to crafting with all HQ ingredients. Abolition of slot cost. Food and medicine effect reforms.
That's all the "1.21" items from the last update two months ago. I doubt every single one of these items are coming down to the wire. Even if only they release one or two alc/gld/cul recipes with product stats.
That road map suggests 1.21 is coming early February. We shift from "early" to "mid" in two weeks. Again, it comes when it comes and we can't change that. It's just something to talk about until we get something of substance to sink our teeth into.
Alright then, still don't see point in bringing it up. We know about 90% of what is coming in 1.21, all we really need is just a release date. You know the routine, SE fluffs us with tad bits of info and previews a few weeks before release. Most likely next week they will give us previews for the new dungeons coming up.
We have road maps and everything also, we know what is coming up, don't need an update from him constantly.
Why can't they just tell us that the patch is delayed and what's going on? I'm pretty tired of getting all this info through a translation thread of a magazine than SE themselves....
I don't know. I doubt this will hold back 1.21. Purpose of "b" and "c" is to fix issues that derive from the 1.20 patch itself. This shouldn't have any affect on 1.21's progression. I wouldn't worry about any major delays, and if there are, it won't be because of this.
Seriously. I have the utmost respect for the community managers and I know they can't translate stuff when it happens overnight but it is pretty frustrating not being able to know things when they happen and having to resort to fan translations (of info from 2ch of all places) just to get some spiral of info.
I mean if it weren't for Reinheart we'd be in the dark most of the time.
I do respect them too! I just feel so in the dark still because the lack of communication recently. It doesn't bother me as much that it was delayed because I'd rather the patch be almost perfect than being released too early. It's just the fact that we don't know yet through SE...
It's sad that with all this PR crap they been spinning for us about being more communicative and up front with players they went back to the old ways. I guess great beginning to the New Year. I've noticed they primarily only answer JP based questions. Anyways, I agree, without Reinhart we'd have pretty much nothing.
From "Letter from the Producer XXI" posted back in November:
And yet it feels like that's exactly what they're doing.Quote:
