There are still a good 60+ open plots in Goblin (we have mediums and larges open still), and I snapped a really oddly placed home for myself thinking my chances of getting a home at all were so low, I should wait by plot I likely won't fight for.
Anyway, while it has a fabulous view, my now garden themed home feels a little awkward surrounded by open desert canyon and brick. So I looked around Lavender Beds and found a slew of really good smalls I can relocate to with just a bit more money.
ANYWAY, how does relocation work? Is your house just straight lifted up from the old plot and dropped on the new one? I know exterior furnishings get moved into storage, and that relocation is cheaper than outright purchasing, but that's about it.
I'll be moving from a small to another small, too.

When you relocate your house, all of your furniture inside and out is thrown into the store room (so make sure you have enough space for it all). Your housing skin will be "translated" to the matching one. So if you have, say, the Oasis Composite Wall, and you move to Lavender Beds, your house would have the Glade Composite Wall. If you have the special skins, they remain the same. No matter if you move bigger or smaller.
As for the cost, you pay the price of the new plot minus 30% of the minimum value of the current plot. It's a pretty simple process. Once you relocate, your old plot will be placed on a random timer, preventing people from purchasing it for a certain period of time. -

It should give you the information there on how much furniture you have placed in the house as well as in storage. To relocate you'll want a green checkmark next to both Indoor & Outdoor furnishings under Relocation Status
If your total of furniture adding both placed & storage was below 400 inside and 40 outside and it still didn't allow you to move, that sounds like a bug that should be reported. -

Few info as i see some people struggle with relocation and limitations:
1. House storage
A) Cottage: inside 200, outside 20
B) House: inside 300, outside 30
C) Mansion: inside 400, outside 40
2. Plants:
- Regardless on growth stage they will end in your storage and once you place them out they will just continue to grow. Same rules apply for flowerpots.
3. House walls (skin)
- If you have district bound walls (e.g. for Goblet) it will change in case you relocate to different residential district. In case of custom walls like Shirogane, Carbuncle, etc. they will adapt to the new house, e.g. small house with Shirogane walls will "stretch" if you relocated to medium or big house.
4. Discount
- The new price will be discounted for 1/3 of the min. price of your old plot. Minimum prices for each size: small 1.488.000 - 1.860.000, medium 7.936.000 - 9.920.000, large 19.840.000 - 24.800.000. The minimum price depends on your old house position. -

I had a full yard and about seven outdoor items in storage. I had to remove items from both outdoor and indoor storage until my interior storage was empty and my yard storage was empty and was then able to move. It was also like that for both of my friends that moved from one small location to another small location. Our storage didn't expand, it only allowed for exactly what our housing limits were.Quote:

If you're worried about your item limit during relocation, go to Housing -> Estate Settings -> Private Estate (or Free Company Estate) -> Storeroom Status. It will display the number of items placed/max, number of items stored/max and a green check mark if your total doesn't exceed relocation limits. If both indoor and outdoor furnishings have the green check mark but an attempt to relocate fails due to exceeding Storeroom limits, then you should open a bug report.
It shouldn't be possible to exceed limits unless you're relocating a large but someone had mentioned in another thread that items placed using the out of bounds glitch weren't included in items placed counts. If true, it's likely those out of bounds items would be counted during relocation attempts and could cause the player to exceed the storeroom limits when relocating a small or medium. -

Items that had been placed using the Out of Bounds glitch should have been placed back inside the home when the glitch was fixed, though since the main reason they fixed that seems to have been people surpassing the item placement limit with it, that does make one wonder if they were past the limit with those items when it was fixed.

The relocation was successful. :D Got a Levender Beds plot right beside a Marketboard, in the lower, lake-side corner of the area, so the view is fantastic and access is super easy. No issues with garden but I gotta redo the interior now, eek.
