It's nice seeing about 20 people in front of every available placard fighting an invisible timer for who knows how long lol. Reminds me of trying to farm against bots for NM's in FFXI.

It's about as good as running to houses that look like you can buy them but can't.
I understand the reasoning behind this system, but it'd be nice if the game could have a visual indicator next to houses that I can actually buy so I don't waste my time running to stuff that was recently relinquished.
Also SE thanks again for the lobby error that placed me at #1000 in the queue.
At least HNM camping you only need to check back every 30 min...
I saw all those people in front of a few placards with busy tags up so I just logged, I can only assume those were vacancy or demolished plots so who knows how long they'll be waiting. I'll check back next month lol
Yeah the UI on this is bad. It doesn't even tell you *why* you can't buy it if you try. Saw more than one confused person this morning because very quickly Cactaur had exactly one medium left... which was locked.
The system itself is fine, but the UI doesn't do a good job of conveying what's going on to the user.
I only seen one other person run around when i got on, lots of small plots available and i was very surprised
Honestly, the invisible timer is great. It removes the resale of houses. There was always a crew on my server who bought everything right as soon as you could, wait a week while people complain and report dealers, then go sell discreetly and quote profitably
I went to the plot that I was eyeing for before the maintenance, and the moment I logged in, I snatched the plot. Took no more than 10 seconds.
There are still plots "open" on Balmung A few maybe like 6? In the Mist and probably 10 in the goblet. HOWEVER these plots have a timer and can bet your last cookie they are being camped. So good luck everyone!
The resale of plots was never a problem to begin with. The problem was the people that bought them for the sole purpose of flipping.
They need a legitimate resale and exchange system in place there are quite a few people that would like to get plots near there mates and make a neighbourhood of friends sort of thing but instead are scattered here there and everywhere.
Even more annoying when your friends have neighbouring plots but in a different ward. Like one has plot 11 in ward 3 and the other plot 12 in ward 7..
a legitimate exchange system might then allow that guy to swap his house with the owner of plot 12 in ward 3 so he can be neighbours with his mate
Yeah I've known people that would like to be to get houses closer together for years now.
Has been said it's a big part of why the wards are so dead and never see many people there. Because there far to scattered.
there is a super easy fix to this, just open up a new ward every time one gets filled, it would stop all this. I have played this game for years and never been able to get a house. On Gilgamesh in ward 16 (one of the new ones) this one person bought out 12 slots the day they came out. Hasn't built on one, 10 of them are actually named unused house! During this time people just made FC's bought out housing slots, just to sell, before it even opened up to players.
Adding wards does not fix it though. Thankfully after 3 or so years i finally got a house but until instanced housing is added (at least as an option) there will always be players unable to get even the slightest chance of obtaining a home
Hopefully they'll add more plots on a semi regular basis. While it might not have fixed the problem, it certainly increased the number of people who now have access to housing and its features. On high pop servers it's never going to be enough though. Instanced housing would help a lot, however.
Sorry, but that's actually impossible... The most they could possible buy in the new wards is 9.
The new rules allow only one FC purchase and one personal purchase per SE service account per world.
You could work around that with another person/3rd party to get up to 8 FCs, but they can't get past the personal restriction.
What you are probably seeing is either multiple people buying houses all with the same looking FC tag? They're all on different accounts, not the same person, they're just associated with each other.
Or, they just relocated a lot of existing housing all into the same ward (so they didn't take up any additional houses, their old houses would have gone back on the market)
You can't own 8 FC houses on a single server on a single account anymore. If you have a character that is in one FC, but an alt in another FC, if the first one owns a house or is part of an FC that owns a house, your character in the second FC is unable to purchase an FC plot.

The only workaround you can do to achieve more than a single FC house on the same account is to have someone buy an FC plot, invite your alt, and then make them leader. And do that for each of the 8 characters you can have on an account. For purchasing land outright, you cannot do that if your FC has characters or alts that share an account with other characters already in or owning an FC plot.
Unfortunately, this rule is pretty easy to get around if you have at least four accommodating friends. Have them form the FC, rank it up, and buy the house, then invite your alt. Give the alt lead and have the other four leave the FC to form another. Rinse and repeat until all alts have FC houses. It's tedious and time-consuming, but I'm guessing at least some people (probably mostly resellers) did this while personal housing was disabled.
I'm sorry for your friend. :( The problem with these kinds of hard restrictions is that those who want to get around them will find ways and honest players will be the ones suffering inconveniences.
Yeah, I know about that workaround, but I’m just talking about purchasing the land outright. Not using an invite workaround. I clarified that in my post to make it...more clear lol. :3
Yeah, I’m sorry for them, too. I tried to help them rectify the situation by telling them to just remove our friend’s alt, but by then the plot they wanted was all bought up in the new wards, and they didn’t feel like trying for another one. Which is sad, but it’s their choice.
