51 byakko totems...

And not a single MNK weapon has dropped... could you add more weapons to the chest drop and make it so it can't drop double of an item? Or something? It's getting a little out of hand.

And yes I know I could buy the weapon but I'd rather not buy anything till I have the mount.. of which I've only seen 1 drop.

Just buy the bloody weapon. We won't even be able to buy the Susano/Lakshmi mounts until 4.25 so you have more than ample time to buy the weapon you actually need.

Even states he would like to know so there is an off chance it doesn't make it into for 4.25 and that is just for susie and lakshi mounts.

Even if they did buy the weapon it wouldn't really change the thread much; the point would still be there. They're eventually going to need to do this.

Can always be patient and wait for the mount drop rate to increase SE likes to do that with mount drops after awhile. Just buy the weapon you have ample time to save for the mount or have it drop theres no pressure.

Lol. Got the weapon on the 52nd totem. Now I can save for the mount for when ever they add it to be bought lol.

Why? 10 runs for your weapon is a pretty ncie saftey net, I'd say?
I suppose your argument here is "We're having more jobs, so more weapons, so less of a chance that your weapon drops now." - but we also have "run it 10 times to get the weapon you want".

If people rather save for the mount thats understandable (but if you plan on running it 99 times already... why not throw in 10 more?) but it doesnt change that fact that we're basically having a 100% droprate for the weapon you want, if you're willing to do 10 runs. I'm to tired to do the math, but seems like a better chance to me than EX-primal-weapons in ARR without the 5 (or 6, if counting ninja) jobs.

It's a matter of rng. I've seen the dog twice, got it the second time. Grabbed my WAR axe, PLD sword and shield, and earned tokens for SMN and DRK weapons. All in like 30 runs. You're just unlucky. I also saw MNK weapons too.

They were all dropping in my runs, that is why.

It took me 27 runs to see the katana.

I'm still learning how to beat Byakko. The PF boss is still near unbeatable, though.

the system is 100% fine? you get a weapon of choice every 10 kills, what could you wish more for?

that you are greedy and dont want to spend them is not a flaw of the system...

I think it's moreso about how it took 15 kills to see a weapon out of 15 options. They wanted to save up too for the mount whenever they let you do it for 99 tokens.

When we know mounts will cost 99 of them and we know the drop rate on said mount will remain terrible for a long time, it only makes sense that people wouldn't want to spend them. Not wanting to spend totems on something that will theoretically drop 1/15 of the time (and you are guaranteed to receive it if you bring the corresponding job, since nobody uses double jobs on Byakko) and instead save for something that will drop... no clue what the drop rate on mount is, but I'm assuming it's 1/20 or worse (and is something that probably nearly everyone in the group will lot on) is not something I would call being greedy; it just makes sense.

thats not gonna happen before 4.4 or later. Until then you can probably kill it in 6 or 7 mins with avg pf groups. Theres no reason to kill it 99 times now, if you only aim for totems

I still think in the end this kind of hardcore grind is not really necessary for MMOs to be successful. It's more a carry over from olden times and having a model where the harder content is more personal, while the group content is more social and about working together than a perfect group performance is the way things should really play out.

If you plan on going for 99 totems for the dog now, you're more than likely going to get your desired weapon(s) at some point along the way.

Yeah took me 15 runs to get my weapon as well where it only took 3 on susano so rng is rng man although I do agree they should drop double weapons.

rngesus shined upon me for byakko ex. In 11 runs, I got mnk weapon, music scroll and dog. Bought War weapon with totems (mnk and war weapons were the 2 main ones I was after).

And if you take a look at the HW patches, you'll see that SE has never added the mount from an EX trial until a few patches after it's been introduced. If 4.25 adds the Susano/Lakshmi mounts to the vendor, they likely won't be adding the Shinryu/Byakko mounts to it until 4.35/4.45.

As for ways to reduce the amount of RNG on drops, the totems were exactly their way of a safety net. You'll be able to buy a weapon every 10 runs. This wasn't the case in ARR, where you had to farm a primal until it dropped the right weapon.

I got my weapon on my first run and kill.

During Susano though I didn't had my weapon after 10 runs so I bought it with tomes, then the 11th run the weapon dropped >>

I think rng hates me for this primal. Keep rolling below 30 for music scroll, have yet to see dog even once after 30 runs, and for 8 turns straight the rdm estoc dropped after I already turned in 10 totems. Most of the other turns were sch book and monk weapons.

Acknowleding the weapon did get dropped...and likely may have gotten the mount already - RNG is RNG..its just how it is.

By the time you have enough tokens to buy the mount - you'll likely already have it lol. If not just before haha.

Sry to hear that. RNG givith and takith. I’ve been trying to get the RMG weapon myself. Lakshmi did two drops which was nice and reasonable. I’d like to see double drops as well, more so especially in all dungeons. Stay strong Brua.

I always buy weapon for main job I’m farming a primal on it I don’t get the drop within first 10 kills...although being I have all crafted 350 weapons, I can opt to just save totems up once I start killing Byakko.

Perhaps double weapons isn't something needed till 5.0 when / if they add more jobs again. But for maths sake, lets say you have all the jobs currently at lvl 70 and you want all the weapons for those jobs from Byakko. I think we have 15? jobs right? so that's 150 totems you need should be unlucky enough to not get any of the drops from the kill it's self, plus 99 for the mount. So that's 249 kills of one instance. Again this is just purely hypothetical. I doubt any one's luck is that bad... Unless you are just buying weapons every time you get 10 totems and never get lucky with the mount. However I do think when / if we get more jobs they will either need to make it so we get 2 weapons drops from a boss or increase the chance that the weapon that drops is for the jobs currently in the part.

if you want all weapons and the mount, then work for it

everyone else gets his weapon after max 10 kills
