how long do MSQ dungeons really take?

i ran these with and without cut-scenes watching them at a reasonable rate and recorded the results for proof as many dont seem sure how long it can take.

Castrum Meridianum is 26mins with cs and 20mins without so 6minutes not so bad. I think most wouldn't mind that extra 6minutes.

Praetorium took 40min with cut-scenes and 15min without. I'm sure most people dont fancy spending an additional 25min in a roulette.

However realistically your not gonna get a new player wanting to watch all the cs everyday and just click spam through them so I dont think it's as bad as we initially think but it's still not ideal.

Making it doable with your squad still sounds like best option for new players wanting to watch it. As some groups wanting to speed through could make dick moves like kicking the one player who is trying to watch them for not clicking through the scenes fast enough.

For me personally, I'd prefer all MSQ be soloable content so I can enjoy it. I am against forced dungeon running anyway to complete main story lines.

So?

Having lots of players in the same world doesn't mean that those players have to actually want to play with each other.
Heck I once played an MMO that was entirely solo except for a global chat and marketplace.

And converting these to solo wouldn't change that there is a ton of other group content, and many other games (included WoW) don't actually force anyone to do dungeons/raids to progress in story or in unlocking many basic things, it's usually optional and people do things for the reward/thrill. When I played in Wotlk I went pretty much straight to endgame dungeons/raids without ever touching a lower level dungeon.

Back on topic.

I did 2 runs of Praet with MSQ roulette as healer and yesterday's was 22 minutes with an insta-queue, and today's was 19 minutes (with a 5 minute queue time adding to 24 minutes). So if there was an additional 15 mins of cutscenes, as long as the roulette exp is double, I'd do it depending on the queue time.

I'd say Castrum Meridianum will be kind of bearable in 4.2. The cutscene density isn't as long as people make it out to be.

The main issue is the Pratorium. A lot of story-related cutscenes are all over the place in that instance compared to the previous 8-man dungeon.

That being said, we'll see how the EXP and tome distribution goes for these two dungeons.

I'd much prefer if they re-balanced the original level 50 story quests as solo content or possibly balanced solo or for groups of 4. The pace of it is extremely slow and the writing bad. It's OK to go through it once for the story, but it's very out-dated content and doesn't at all match the quality of the quests that follow it. Also, note that everything past that in 2.x, 3.x, and 4.x is balanced for either light or full party events that match normal dungeons. Ultima/Lahabrea could pretty easily be split into its own trial. Castrum and Praetorium could be scaled down to solo or light party pretty easily.

This content doesn't match the rest of the game and is pretty obviously something added in early development. It doesn't make sense to have to balance much of the later game around it.

Praetorium took me 50 minutes to complete. Quite franky, they did not increase the XP nearly enough to make me ever want to queue up again.

Unfortunately you still get the full cutscenes even if everyone in your party has already cleared it. This will probably kill the main scenario roulette.

I've been doing them when I have time to kill. I watch tv or check out Facebook during cutscenes or I can also fold laundry, load the dishwasher, let the dogs out etc...

The Praetorium took me almost an hour if I remember. Castrum was something like twenty minutes. The MSQ has essentially become a gamble. Castrum is worth it, even with cutscenes, but Praetorium is not. Triple the rewards for if you get Praetorium and it just might be worth it.

Depends on which one you get. Most time now takes 45 to 70 minutes to run them now. Where before took 15 minutes. Found out if join in progress you don't get the full exp. from the dungeon. Today when finished it only needed 3 mil to level to 67 and after I finished it when joined in progress only got 1.2 mil from dungeon when day before got over 3 mil from same dungeon.

Unsynced it the other day with a couple new players. Blitzed through castrum in 22 minutes and praetorium in 43 minutes. Castrum could have been a minute or two quicker as there was a mis communication with who was firing the cannons but yea overall I doubt they could be done much quicker now with the Cutscenes.
