No one wants this.
“I aim to develop an enjoyable game, please look forward to it.”
Obviously he's been taking notes from Yoshi P.

Sorry, couldn't resist....
Well, this is surprising....
Although I doubt you will ever see a Sonic the Hedgehog game with the SE logo on it, let alone a Sonic crossover in FFXIV, as although he was Sonic's original creator, Sega still own the copyright for it (kind of like how Hironobu Sakaguchi has had no control over the FF series since leaving SE despite being it's original creator). Still, an unexpected development. I can't wait to see what games he comes up with though (Shenmue is still one of my favourite games and was really ahead of it's time) - maybe he's going to be seconded to work on FFXVI? (I can only dream :p).
Sonic is property of SEGA, and PSO2 is SEGA's MMO. There was a collaboration with PSO2 and FFXIV in japan, so there MAY be a non-zero chance ( I don't care either way).
I'm agreeing with the above popoto. Not because Sonic's creator comes to SE that they'll do a crossover.
Naka isn't even the only creator. It was a trio of people, Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yusuhara, that conceived the final version of that made it into Sonic 1 (and is what we generally refer to as "Classic Sonic.")
Naka was the lead programmer and was behind most of the physics of the game, and he moved up to Sonic Team's lead director before jumping ship to found his own studio, Prope.
Naka hasn't been a part of Sonic Team for over a decade.
Sure, as something new for the game I support most sane ideas!... :)
On another note I must admit I don't like Sonic The Hedgehog at all, even the Mario Kart clone was boring to no end, it's funny there are games that simply could never be good enough, FFXIV might be one of those!...
Sonic Mania was good
There is only one event that can possibly occur from this: The "Gotta Go Fast!" event. We all get Super Sonic movement speed buffs to race around Eorzea with. As a result, map changes are temporarily removed so it'd be like 1.0 and stuff.
P.S. I like the Sonic series myself, and do not hate any particular Sonic games as much as the usual "fan base" does, although some disappointments have been had... And no I do not mean Sonic Forces in its entirety, just its Super Sonic DLC.
Forces suffers from pure mediocrity. It's pretty fun, really gorgeous, but the levels are choppy and the story feels like someone took a pair of scissors and cut away important scenes and archs. It turns out, Sega is enforcing a new rule in that Sonic can't get too emotional, thus killing so much potential with Forces storyline. The avatar is truly the best part.
But, yeah, Mania is WAY better in every way and it being so good compared to the mediocrity of Forces proceeded to make Sonic Team look bad, despite them beimg the ones to make sure Sega gave them the greenlight.
Honestly, it's a bit of a mess.
Again, Yuji Naka hasn't been a part of Sonic Team in over a decade.
On subject of a Sonic themed tie-in, I can think of ways it could be written around from Sonic's lore (since dimension jumping is thing, and Sonic's been in multiple fantasy worlds) but I can't see Sonic related and designed stuff working in FFXIV unless it's meant to be a bit of a joke, much like with Alpha. I really don't think Sega would be into that with how hard they have been with reeling in the characters and have recently increased oversight on the cast's portrayals.
Even though I would gleefully grind out every reward possible because I'm a huge nerd for Sonic.
So chocobo racing except we're the chocobos?
I think this may be needed: http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com
I am not against a crossover at all. If Super Mario RPG and Kingdom Hearts can exist, then why not Sonic the Hedgehog RPG.
It exists, and hardcore Sonic fans hate it. Bioware made it, even, but phoned it in so hard.
It's also traced back to be the cause of Archie losing the Sonic liscense after over 2 decades, but that's another story that only super nerdy Sonic people really dive into.
Seriously, though, could SE take the Sonic license and male a GOOD Sonic RPG...?
I don't see how it can fit with FF universe ^^"
This is not de wae

Says everything.
Being the creator doesn't mean have the rights.
What would you even do for a Sonic event?
Speedrun a dungeon?
We do that already.
Could Monks get Knuckles’ gloves as a glamour weapon?
Aslong as the event is fun, why not?
"Hardcore" Sonic fans hate almost every Sonic game for 1 reason or another. I honestly don't get why they set such high standards for the series myself. Sure the games may have 1 issue or another that no one can deny, but personally I think the overall negativity is blown out of proportion. I mean really, what's the point of just making them all like Mania? Is that really what said fans want? I think it'd get boring after awhile myself if it was the same game with just different stages and stuff. I didn't think Dark Brotherhood was bad, I didn't think Forces was bad, and the only games I really didn't care for playing were the ones that needed the Wii Remote (wasn't a fan of using that thing). I haven't played every Sonic game in existance, but I have played most of them. I might just be more open-minded and less high-standardish than others but still...
P.S. From all these posts I'm starting to think people want to see Knuckles in the game... But that's just crazy. I mean it's like they expect to find the Master Emerald in The Churning Mists...
Naka being in SE means nothing for sonic since sega still owns the IP.. but with the way sega's been going I wouldn't mind giving SE the sonic IP and them making a sonic game. Then again THAT'll depend on what team in SE gets it in all honestly. Not everything SE makes is gold. 13-2, 15.... >.>
Tho I love how Naka said " please look forward to it " Are he and Yoshi P friends? IS that a bigger meme than I thought it was? I must know.
My interpretation as a Hardcore Sonic Fan is more of a "I really am sick and tired of every review going out of it's way to bait Sonic fans for clicks and views and always forcing us to sit on the defense or on our back foot for liking these things," while simultaneously stuck looking at the many instances of SEGA's executive meddling preventing Sonic games from always getting that last bit of polish or a release that rival franchises do get.
Ahem.
That said, I didn't like Dark Brotherhood for several reasons. It's too easy, 6 hours long, wrote some of the characters poorly, and was basically an "episode 1" instead of a full game. The fact it's got so much non-game itself related bad juju is another story entirely, and I think that's stained it's reputation beyond repair in the eyes of many fans. Thanks EA. Thanks Ken Penders.
But, anywho.
I am comfortable with the speed i am currently proceeding at and have no wishes to increase that increment by any amount
