Turn off Machinist New Animations?

I am just curious if SE would give us the option to turn off the new Machinist Animations. I can understand that some people love it and it is not my intent to down if you do. I personally do not like the whole Gunfu we see in movies like Face Off...especially when my female character is jumping in air.

I honestly like the classic shooting animations because it appears you are actually some what realistically firing a gun.

You mean how you 1h fire with virtually every shot, no matter the model of gun? I'd be more agreeable with this *if* MCH's firing animations were realistic in the first place but every animation that got changed was originally a trick shot anyway (with split and slug being basically identical).

But eh, to each their own. As long as it remains optional, I'd be fine.

I kinda agree xD its flashy as hell in reality you would be dizzy with all that 360 flip or break ur ankle or land with stomach on the ground. XD

People complained MCH animations were too boring before. So now, we're acrobatic trick shot experts. Enjoy it.

I'd trade the "dakka dakka" Spread Shot animation for a more fitting single-shot, conal burst though. Or Grenado Shot. . .

If only. Trick shots were mentioned, I liked that Cleaner Shot was one that felt humble and still pretty cool for getting through a whole combo, but the constant spasming and magic bullet bending that Machinist is now is impossible to take seriously. Shoot, Rend Mind was my favorite animation and I don't even think that's around anymore.

It's not even the animations that get to me. It's the sound, especially on the weaker attacks. It just doesn't even sound like a gun.

I just want some two handed motions.

If I had to pick a Heated shot animation to get rid of, it'd be Heated Slug Shot (sorry, I REALLY like Heated Split Shot. Best new animation we have IMO). As a still-stylish but not as exaggerated animation, best I could think of is like the usual Slug Shot animation (a little faster than usual) into a twirl (of the weapon, not yourself) then a second shot.

Could maybe think of something better but that was a quick idea just now that could work. I've got nothing against Heated Clean Shot's animation, but I'd prefer the original Clean Shot, with the heated one being a different skill altogether.

Ideally I wish they'd choose whether MCH is closer to a pistoleer or a rifleman. The sprint animation suggests the latter, while the nonheated actions suggests the former; but even then, both split and slug are "I can shoot with one hand".

It's my dream that we either get proper rifles, or a rifle job is implemented. Some might then complain that animations are boring again, so that could be an opportunity to put a little more "machine" in Machinist. Give it a more techy feel (Barrel Stabilizer is already one good step in the right direction, IMO), especially since the turret presence has dropped heavily in Stormblood. The only times I ever even take notice of it is when deploying it, or blowing it up. Its presence is otherwise quite minor.

They'd have to add stocks to every gun asset. Dunno how hard that would be. Maybe in the future, they will do what happened to WHM/BLM, where they had 1H wands and 2H staves. Some guns would be classified as pistols and some guns would be rifles. SE would have to add some rifle animations though.

i dont mind the gun fu stuff considering our twin class (BRD) can go 360 no aim animation too

at this point iam not surprise if SE decide to put MCH skill in the next expansion to go dual wield for their new skill animation lol, japan game has a bad habit of going overboard for menial stuff like this (unnecessary backflip, cartwheel, somersault, etc)

it's more the case that it would be boring after a while.
Movement isn't boring, even if its over the top.

I wouldn't really call it a bad habit, a lot of Asian games have flashy animations and effects and I don't see them stopping anytime soon.

They aren't going to go out of their way to create a new set of boring and stale lookimg animations because a very small minority wants it.

I can't really event comprehend why people want them to this, let alone the people complaining about unrealistic animations in a Fantasy game.

What about disabling animations? I would just love having them disabled. I have leveled everything to 70 and the only animations I truly know is Steel Cyclone and Bloodspiller. But all the rest I couldn't tell you. DRG is like poke poke poke... Sorry DRG mains I just don't pay attention. MNK is left right left right maybe kick? Playing since 2.1 I just kind of get lost in everything else.

And raise the FPS so people DC do to lower spec systems O.o, nah lets keep it :P

Does anyone know if there's a setting for MCH that can make an audio cue when a shot procs the enhanced follow-up shot?

This is the only class I've played in game where 80% of the time I'm tunneling the toolbar checking for procs (the text on the right gets lost in the heat of battle!)

I am confused on what you mean old animation and less flippy shit? I was doing side flips in 3.0 with clear shot. The animations look very much the same to me. Could someone tell me what HW animation is different? I know some skill been removed but the core HW skills still look the same to me. Now SB skills look over the top and comical. Summoning like 10 bullets the side of your body to fly into your target like a magic missile. am wanting to know how I can not solo a primal with animations like that. Clearly I could shoot garlean airships out of the sky with bullets that big. Really made it look like your way underpower firing such big round only for them to do minor damage and not instant kills.

I know what I'm about to say is probably going to sound silly, but I'd definitely only be okay with it as being an option as the OP suggested and it didn't hurt future MCH animations because one I actually really love the Heated Shot animations and two those animations are really the only reason I stayed with the job in the first place.

The shift from HW MCH to SB MCH angered me quite unreasonably. My favorite part with MCH was challenging myself to always strive for bigger Wildfire numbers, and with Wildfire having such a reduced duration, Blank Shot doing no damage anymore, and Head Graze doing no damage anymore as well as getting removed made me so mad. That and Grenado Shot getting removed. Didn't like that. The Heat mechanic seemed stupid and was annoying to keep track of, to boot. Then I got the heated shots. All of that rage about the job just got overwhelmed by the "THIS IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!" and went away, haven't questioned my decision to main MCH since. Even during the "No MCH" period of early SB.

I still remember when someone told me in a Susano EX duty finder run, someone resented my presence so much that at the end when the dog dropped and I didn't win it, that person told me "MCHs don't get doggos" and left. Funny story: I didn't win the dog because I already had it and couldn't roll on it. Won it on my second Susano run, actually. Apparently MCHs DO win Doggos, but I digress. Point is, okay as long as it's an option and doesn't screw with future animations MCH gets.

I personally like all of them except Clean Shot. You don't even use the friggin' gun for that attack, and it looks really cheap.
Otherwise, the argument that they're too unrealistic is absolutely absurd. If that's how you feel, you should probably be playing something like Call of Duty, rather than the game full of gods and wizards.

Not to mention people can become primals, some freely, and Zenos controlled one with an artificial Echo. . . I don't think anything can be written off as unrealistic anymore.

Holding a gun with two hands is too unrealistic. :P

as long as its added as an option, even if its in the same grounds as what they did for the Gauss Barrel (visability is only on ur end, so even if u can't see it ur team can) then I'd take it... thou without the "flashy" moves u would be rely'n on the Job gauge to tell ur heat lv only, rather than animation & job gauge, which may cause some problems unless adressed.

Still miss Caster MCH, I mean I ajusted but its just not the same... but that could be from the clunkyness of MCH's Overheat mechanic & my dislike for the heated shot animations, still gona play MCH (as it half replaced PLD as my main back in HW & i can't say no to guns in a midevil/magic style world)

I don’t know about all of you, but watching my shot animations is not on the list of things I pay attention to in combat...

i disagree the animations are cool and even so I'm more focused on every other mech on MCH to admire/care about it
