Square Enix Let's talk about the lack of a cart function in the Mogstation please?

Well good job, I forgot that the Mogstation is single-transaction and that people have had issues with their card's fraud department seeing this type of activity and then suspending your card until you take action.

We really should talk about having a cart on the Mogstation, especially when you want to advertise a sale AND release a bunch of new items.

Did you really think I wouldn't buy both carbuncle mounts, the emote, and maybe the carbuncle gear? Or if I wanted to take advantage and add one of the mounts or minions I neglected to buy earlier?

My card was declined on the 4th transaction. I had to text back to the free text message saying I needed to verify transactions and that I then can go continue. I made the next transaction successfully and decided to stop even though I still want to continue making purchases that are gifts. An hour later I got a call that I left to voicemail saying they were my bank's fraud department suspending my card after this suspicious activity. They also sent me a text message from a -different- line than the earlier text message. Both of these told me I could use online banking if I had it to clear the suspension alert or call. I used online banking but there wasn't an alert so I had to call in anyway. Got the alert taken care of. That took about 2 hours.

I totally understand the need to do gifts separately from individuals but I'm sure you can figure out how to program that. Maybe. I know it's like beating a dead horse but Steam can do it.

Please put a cart function in. You don't want my card to be declined and neither do I. I don't want to have my bank accidentally issue a chargeback that I don't want and neither do you nor do I want my account banned because of this because I've heard of some of those 'USE CRYSTA!' stories.

Please.

I completely agree. Mogstation needs a cart feature. It’s a very simple and basic feature that any and all online shops have, so why isn’t there one for this game’s cash shop?

One way to get around the chance of your CC company putting a hold on your card, is to buy Crysta and use that until SE puts in the cart function. That's what I normally do, stock up on Crysta and use it until it runs out/low and there is something new I absolutely want. Usually, it sits there for quite some time(I last recharged it EARLY this year, and it's finally down to 599 left)

Yeah, like I said I probably should have remembered that there had to be work arounds but we shouldn't have to do it :(

While this is a workaround-ish, you still have to separately buy each item which in of itself is a bit of a chore for digital items. a cart would be a much welcome addition.

I wonder how much of this is because many of the mogstation items are for a single-character, where choosing that character happens before payment. If all items were for all characters perhaps we could queue them. Or maybe a system could be designed where we select per character while adding it to the cart. Or they could go the -really- easy route and just generate item redemption codes when buying on Mog Statation, and let people add as many things to a cart as they desire. Then, players could just redeem items using the built in functionality and for single-character items, choose at that time. Or wait. Or gift them. Or whatever else.

tldr: There are a bunch of different ways SE could fix this. They should probably pick one because anything would be better than what's currently there.

Absolutely agree! Please add a cart function!

Please put in a cart. I get charged an extra fee for international purchases from my bank so everytime I want to buy multiple items I end up being charged per item due to the lack of cart system.

Can the money from the new items be used for the cart feature because it is needed.

I agree it would be nice to have a cart for multiple purchases, but in the meantime, if you know you're planning to make multiple purchases, just buy enough crysta to cover it and you'll only be making one transaction between your bank and SE.

Had this happen to me, I managed to purchase items on my hubbys account fine but had to wait extra on my account because my card was suspended for fraud. Would be nice to see a cart function added. Ever since whenever I want to purchase anything through store I buy crysta now as I don’t want the same thing happening again, considering I couldn’t text the number back as I had no credit on my phone at the time and couldn’t use my card to top up my phone!!!

On the up side the lack of a shopping cart in the mogstation tends to make me buy less from the store >.>

The only reason I have the Citrine Carbuncle mount right now is because I slipped an expression of interest in the mounts, and my boyfriend bought it for me, plus the blue one for himself.

Their site is astoundingly archaic. How do you create a website post-2010 that can't open in new tabs, or even use the freaking Back button?

Yes. A cart feature would be nice to have on the Mogstation. Since each letter has 5 slots open for items...

This is actually related to how the site is designed. At least, the back button portion. Mogstation appears to be running as a REST server or perhaps a servlet. Meaning, the bulk of its code and functions are all processed from a server application that then generates your HTML. Within these types of sites, things are typically session-based and rely on building a final page from multiple server functions. Kinda like getting passed through filters. You can't go back because it was never really there. At least, not in a workable state. What they could do though is instead direct the user back to the main page if any part of the session seems to be invalid.

Sup. I've actually been working on a REST API/server for a thing so it's extra fun to discuss. I can't say I like web programming when I have to generate all the HTML. I'd rather use php as my online evil of choice.

This makes sense, and would be consistent with logging out while standing on top of someone's house (you end up in the front/side yard). The houses are there to stand on, yes, but they're also NOT there, so logging out causes our positions to default elsewhere, depending on where we started the climb to that roof.

Compare to Kugane's tower where the platforms are all totally there, so the same issue does not exist.

Yeah, I see your point, and yet it does nothing to undo my opinion that the site needs to be designed better to allow for a cart by some basic function. It would simply be nice to see, though also dangerous for those of us whose restraint are only helped by the lack of cart. *shrugs*

Oh, I fully agree that it needs to be improved. My goal was to simply explain how it may currently work, based on experience in the field. If they can handle setting a login session, it really shouldn't be hard to add cart information to that session as well. My guess is this gets more difficult with the single-character items, as that would need to be stored or set before payment or something. Totally doable, but probably not seen as worth the developer resources to implement. (And likely, the people coding for Mog Station are not the same people coding for FFXIV's game servers, although there's probably some overlap!)

Square Enix, if you're going to advertise items that are being sold on the mogstation, please know that it inconveniences your customers to not have the cart option. I'm sure there are people who stop buying because they got tired of the multiple single transactions.
