My heart says yes, but my bank account says no...
Yesss, I've been waiting for this! Treating myself this year ♥ Got it on preorder!
I dont have to wait in line for 6 hours for this emote that comes with a statue??? SIGN ME UP!
I glad she looks pretty nice. I really dislike square Enix statues expecially the play arts Kai series but as I saw prototype in live letter I was quite suprised. I hope she gonna be available via Japanese stores not only SE shop.
That's one expensive emote, lol. :D
Such crap, emotes locked behind 150.00 purchases of something I do not want. The statues have no place in my home, even though I would like the emotes.
Already have two on preorder.
I really want the emote but I'm not spending 150 bucks for a plastic statue.
bad idea to lock an emote behind a 150 pay wall.
if people want the statue that is nice they made it, but i just want the emote
And now to patiently await a funko pop version in a more affordable price range. Will be interesting to see how many of those actually make it to their destination in one piece.
Will def preorder myself one after xmas. Ive been hoping her statue would look nice since the emote was datamined eons ago. Wish she was a little bigger, but I'll survive :')
Well, why not, I bought the Odin statue. I guess paying $150 for a statue that comes with an emote is just a thing I do now.
can someone explain why they insist on game items being exclusive to physical items?
Shouldn't the digital items be a bonus and not having to buy a limited and expensive physical item just get an in game item?
Put these emotes and items on the cash shop.
My reaction to seeing the price

The statue is nice and I do like the emote... I just can't justify $150 for it, though.
Hopefully someday they'll sell the emote separately, as I would like it. Though given the Odin emote never received such treatment, I have little hope.
SE can we have some Nedoroid figures? Ones that are accurate AND cute and customizable? I mean, the Shiva statue is really beautiful and all.. but it puts a strain on the pockets. Nendoroids can be collected more easily because they're not nearly as much and you can do more with them. Like, nendoroid Eikons and main characters
Kinda sitting on the fence on this one. Like the statue and find the pricing within reasonable rights (if it's on the same quality as the Odin statue), but not that big a fan of XIV's Shiva and the emote. Erm...
On a side note, can I take this chance to request for a ghost Edda + voidsent Avere statue please? Red Wedding emote for the bonus? x3
Nothing wrong with the statue as merchandise will always be there for popular brands but baiting players with the emote/minion/etc. is really against what they are advocating in post 1.0 - early 2.0 Era. Now it's like they are milking us. O well it is still a good looking statue with an expensive price tag.
Well... with retainer on rental, separating of male/female cash glamours and character-only cash items, I think we are way past the "it's like they are milking us" portion already, no?
To be fair however, for a statue of this quality (once again, assuming it matches up to the Odin statue), the price tag may be more common than you think depending on where you get the statue from. It really boils down to if you think it's worth your gil.
Compare to the most prices of any anime statue it's not that bad. I know it could scared people who don't know the common price range for figurines from anime / game created by Japanese companies. I more angry about that Shiva is as it seem to be a square Enix shop exclusive.
Anyone from Australia weighing in on the shipping cost?
Nendos are manufactured by Goodsmile and pretty much all of SE's IP has and will stay exclusive to their play arts figure brand, which isn't viewed very well by most Japanese collectors as far as I'm aware (their creatures lines were popular but not their action figures with really mixed reactions to statues). SE has done a few "chibi" figure lines similar to nendos in the past but they've usually been know to look weird, have awful stands, and not last very long as a series.
Looks very underwhelming
Only Final Fantasy series is exclusive to Square Enix at the moment. In old times they did some collaboration with Kotobukiya (Yuna figurine) but that was years ago. We get few trading items from Taito but most of the time charms, mini figurines are produced by SE and they doing really bad job at this. Kingdom hearts get some Funko POP! but I think that Disney idea to promote game in US. After I saw YoRHa No. 2 Type B (I didn't play the game, but I think it's her name right?) created by FLARE I hope that Square Enix maybe MAYBE gonna change their mind about Final Fantasy series in the future. At least plushies are really cute.
I should've specified ff figures you're right.
SE puts out great plush, jewelry, cds, paper media, and other apparel but their figures tend to have amazing expertly detailed prototypes with mediocre or downright bad paint apps on the finished products. Especially on the faces. The super small promo pictures for shiva aren't encouraging and I see at least a dozen points in the sculpt that are probably either going to sag over time or break during unboxing.
I don't think it's gonna be a problem. I didn't saw the box for Odin but this is PVC (right?) it should not break so easily. If they learned anything from other figures companies they need to use more flexible material on hair to avoid problems. Maybe that material they like to use in Play arts Kai figures when it comes to the character hair. It's a shame that I didn't get to see Odin figure with my own eyes. It would be easier for me to make decision about preordering Shiva.
SE why not sell the statue with the emote and put the emote in the cash shop? I mean its limited anyway so you will probably find enough people that just buy the statue for the statue..so win win for everyone right? Those that cant afford it or are too late when its sold out will still get the chance for the emote if they want the statue for that and you will get more money buy selling that on the mog station too..
$150 US dollars -_- I can't believe it. And its plastic. I'm sad to say I might have pushed for $100 if I was feeling like treating myself, but knowing that its 150 and shipping and taxes will most likely bring it close to 200....no thanks -_-
I'd buy it but...
1) The price is not worth it
2) I don't live in the States or EU, so shipping would kill me even more.
3) They should sell the emotes separately because a lot of people would pay for it but don't care about the statue or it's too expensive for them.
For that price+shipping, I may as well upgrade the remaining components of my PC and get ready for the PC release of FFXV next year.
Odin was pvc with some metal. I've been told there was a poorly concealed metal support on Odin that wasn't visible in the promo pictures.
Shiva will have some snapping issues unless they make big changes in the mass produced product because transluscent/clear parts on figures always tend to be brittle compared to opaque because there are a lot more limitations on what can be used if you want the part to retain its color/transparency over time. You either choose a softer material that's flexible that will yellow and crack with age or a rigid material that ups the chances for breaking but isn't as susceptible to longterm chemical changes. I'm speaking as a sculptor who has worked with these mediums. Thems the stakes when you work with plastic.
^ This. From experience soft plastic with flexible shapes usually doesn't come with good durability against natural aging. And that is even before factoring potential breaking from rough handling. From the Odin statue package I think rough handling shouldn't be that much an issue unless it arrive with serve damage that is plain to the eyes, but I'm still skeptical of bending/discoloring from aging. For Odin's case at least discoloring is a lesser concern due to the dark colors, but I can imagine the Shiva statue's color fading given a few years down.
Well, I went ahead and pre-ordered it as a Christmas present for myself. We'll see the longevity with it over time although 99% of my statues have maintained themselves well over the course as I just put them away in display cases with soft lighting. Although, I have 0% interest in the actual emote, however, it will be funny watching people try to sell the code for absurdly high prices.
