WAKFU New SE MMORPG

Wakfu is another game from the SE franchise.

It's been in open beta for europe but hit open beta for English/US a few days ago.

Worth checking out. Very Final Fantasy tactics//Dofus.

Some people quiver at the thought of playing something different to FFXIV, but if its any concelation its the same company. Besides, theres nothing wrong with playing multiple games :)

Square Enix is only the publisher for this game in north america.
It's an Ankama's game

I got in on the US beta back in alpha testing for XIV. It's a pretty good game. Kinda neat little Eco-MMO

Funny, Bastion made me think of Wakfu.

Does it cost money? Knowing SE it P2P right?

Oh yeah this game is very interesting, I played it a few years ago when it was known as Dofus "by Ankama", but now that SquareEnix teamed with Ankama, I'm very curious about the changes they are going to make.

Got in during the original closed beta of the game and liked it. Haven't played it for a while though so haven't seen how it evolved over time, but it was a fun little game.

DLing the open beta as we speak. I've become quite curious about it after reading things on the site.

wait wait wait...... it's a TRPG...but it is an MMORPG as well.... I think my brain just caught fire......

I will look into this, as I am now interested, would make a nice little side thing with FFXIV

Yer its nice, new and casual.

Game runs very smoothy and there seems to be a lack of turn based mmorpg's these days.

Actually... I'm still trying to find some differences between Wakfu and Dofus (Gameplay, Characters, Graphics,...)
Last time I played Dofus, it was good and I enjoyed it in my coffee breaks, but then I've seen the gameplay of Wakfu and was wondering why would they do a game which is the same sh*t as another game =D

Err, not sure how is this relavent to FFXIV, but whatever, I'll partake in the discussion.
I was playing the close beta last year for it, until I got tired of grinding. It's a lot of grinding for everything.
The two things I liked was the turned base combat, and the ecosystem.

Turn base combat is something I've always enjoyed. Most of the time you need to use the terrain to your advantage. A careless move and you can find yourself astray from your party members and surrounded by monsters alone.

The ecosystem made farming jobs feel important, but eventually becomes extremely mundane. The leveling for it is just moving from one crop/monster to the next, planting, waiting, and harvesting. Doesn't take much thought, but player should keep an eye on monsters or plants that's endangered of being extincted.

Also, I thought it was also going to appear up on the DS as an MMO, but instead it was turned into a single player RPG release.

Ya SE Did not make this, they just publish it.

Plus its old noose, I was playing this back in XIV beta.

I've been playing Wakfu for about a year now. With all the people that complain on here about grinding lol... Wakfu is well.. All DoM/DoW/DoH/DoL @50 and you still havent hit cap on Wakfu. I love the game, its a lot of fun, however... At the end of OB you will have your characters erased, it is an f2p however for premium content like new areas ect you have to p2p. Think it will be about 7 bucks a month if I remember correctly.

It's a sequel, happened 1,000 years after the timeline in Dofus, it gotta be similar. And yea, Dofus was VERY grindy (Level cap was like 300+ or so I forgot) so I expect Wakfu to be the same. Also the tradeskill etc. takes a lot of time to cap, so you get even more grind.

Can you link something back that wipe statement up?

I haven't heard of any wipes for the future and its almost unheard of for an OB to do this.

The game is not F2P with cash shop, it's actually P2P because free zone will be limited. P2P will always wipe from OB. On the other hand, F2P with cash shop seems to never gone out of OB, for years.

It's hardly new and not deved by SE, Its a nice little MMO but too grindy for my liking.

Sadida - Adidas, a shoe company fits right into the name Sadida's Shoe, though it has little to do with the class's abilities.
Osamodas - Sado-Maso, a term for people who enjoy using whips recreationally. Again, unrelated to the class's abilities, except for the Whip spell.

Eniripsa - Aspirine/Aspirin, a common pain reliever; the Eniripsa class is a healing class.
Iop - Yop, a yogurt drink from Yoplait. Another inside joke from the developers. (See below)
Cra - Arc, french for "Bow".
Feca - café, which means "coffee" in French. Another inside joke. (See below)
Sacrier - Their French name is Sacrieur, which is a combination of "sacrifice" and "crieur", which means "a person that shouts".
Pandawa - Believed to be short for "panda warrior". More likely a poke at the Pandaren Brewmaster character in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, and at the continual rumors of Pandaren becoming a playable race in World of Warcraft. Like the Pandawa, the Pandaren are a neutral race who rarely venture away from their isolated island of Pandaria. The name Pandawa is also an anagram of the word used for a Jedi in training, "Padawan" (but whether this is actually related to the class is unclear).

Feca, Iop and Sram are meant to have been the first three classes created, so the developers named them after their favorites among the various snacks they consumed when first creating the game (coffee, yogurt drinks, and chocolate), and the names have nothing to do with the classes themselves.
