Adding extra inventory tabs

This request stems from the German Community rep asking her forum-users something on behalf of the devs.

Essentially, the devs want to know if it would be ok to implement the extra tabs in the inventory (ie: tab for gear, tab for materia etc), although this would still be run with 200 item solts shared between all tabs.

Post here if you think this is a good idea. Chances are our own reps are watching for the feedback!


EDIT: Just a heads-up. Please avoid positing in English in the German forums - some people do this and the regulars can get a little upset about it (it's a cultural thing). Hitting "like" on a post is generally enough. Unless of course you are proficient in German and want to compose something in the language yourself.

I definitely support this! Although it'd be a little nicer if materia didn't count towards the 200 item count, just like crystals :/

YES! I can't tell you how many times I accidentally NPC'd gear because it was in the same tab as all my junk :S

Definitely support this, and will echo the comment that it'd be nice if Materia was it's own inventory amount...

I also like this idea. Going trough a list of 100+ items is no fun. And while sorting helps, a category view (tabs,etc..) would be really nice.

I complete support this motion. When you bag starts getting full searching through 200 items can be quite tedious. Maybe they could implement the following:

Materia Tab
Material Tab (Crafting Stuff)
Equipment Tab
Achievement Tab (For gear acquired via an achivement)

If meteria was was it's own inventory amount... There would be no need for 200 slots.

That would be awesome! And it may be obvious but extend that to our retainers too! And if SE adds the ability to see what my retainers are holding without having to actually go to a bell or ward that would be doubly wicked. Never did understand why we couldn't have a link pearl with our retainers. And if at some point I could print what is in my and my retainers inventory just to help manage all that stuff that would be terrific.

Excellent idea! However, I have a minor suggestion to add onto this.

I would prefer a system similar to the chat tabs. You add a new tab and filter what you would / wouldn't like to see in it. This way people don't have tabs for things they don't care about, and people who want tabs for say... 'woodworking ingredients' can do that too. You could also easily create a tab for 'materia', but perhaps your friend wants their catalysts visible in there too while you don't. No problem, it's custom!

These tabs would merely be filtered lists of the complete inventory tab, so they wouldn't have to implement any extra or separate storage. Any tabs configured should be visible when examining both the player's inventory and their retainers'.

Woah, ideas running rampant. Let's not forget there are currently bad code limitations in place. But then with v 2.0, who knows...?

Glad to see people support the idea.

+1 for me as well, and I do wish materia didn't count, but I understand why it does, having new tabs would be nice.

Yes, being able to sort our inventory by priority was a step in the right direction, but not enough.. This would be awesome!

Custom tabs would be nice, kind a like chat windows, where I can tick what i'd like to see in each.

Tick boxes could cover, materials, materia, gear types (foot, head etc), gear class/job types (gld, pld, war, mdr, etc)

It sounds complicated, but it would actually be very easy to implement, doing something like this in SQL would be a synch, so hopefully the FFXIV coders could manage it in their engine.

While we can't promise a date of implementation, we are looking into separating items in the inventory into tabs (while maintaining the current shared inventory size). So for example (only) it might be something like "Gear" tab, "Materia" tab, "Consumables" tab (remember, just my own example ;)).

Some players were discussing having dark matter and catalysts appear in their own tabs, separate from the current inventory size, but there aren't any plans for that at the moment due to the fact that we aren't looking to increase inventory space.

However, in 2.0 we plan to introduce the following to help alleviate inventory congestion.

• Equipped gear will no longer take space from the inventory
• Dark matter grades will become upward compatible (for example: Grade 5 DM can repair anything that requires 1-5)
• Categorizing materia catalysts

Sounds great. Love the extra tabs, that would help so much with time being saved instead of scrolling down forever with my d pad(if I hit left or right for a page up/down kinda thing it sometimes bugs out and skips a bunch of gear). I would like to suggest however that materia is simplified with just NQ and HQ materia (Ex. +16 or +17 for stat IV materia) and it becomes stackable. That would save SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much space.
