Allow house buying by veteran status

I know some people will not like this but I want to throw the idea out there. Since they are getting rid of long term veteran rewards I think long term veterans should get another benefit. Early access to housing. There should be specific times when people of certain veteran rank can buy plots in the next release even if it's ONLY the next release.

I.E.
Legacy - 3am PST - 5am PST
1460 days+ - 5am PST to 7am PST
1095-1459 days - 7am PST to 9am PST
730-1094 days - 9am PST - 11am PST
365-729 days - 11am PST - 1pm PST
Less than 365 days - 1pm onward

The people who have paid to keep this game going deserve a reward now that the long term veteran rewards are gone. This is one way to go about that.

This isn't a bad idea.

Most of the concern is going to be if they change to 1 personal and 1 fc per account, and how many wards will be added. If they don't add enough wards, houses could be gone by 730-1094 days, which wouldn't be a bad thing. It would show that there are plenty of veterans that still play and want houses. I would be disappointed that I didn't get one, but I wouldn't angry. It would mean that if I keep going I'll get there on the next run through.

I don't mind the idea, but in practice it really doesn't work. It's not early access when the long term players are guaranteed to snatch up all the houses. They might as well just give houses as a veteran reward at that point because the result is the same

Coming from someone who has only 90 days (but I also have a house) this isn't a bad idea. I'd shorten the time frame tho because you'd find legacy/1460+ people who don't really want a house but will pick one up just because it's available. A 30 minute time frame for each group or even shorter to 15 minutes would make it so people who really want a house will more likely get a house if they want one.

its a good idea for the right track.

Really sucks for those that want to potentially get someone else's pot, but are a newer player, but you know they are going to move. For some, it's not just about getting a house, but also a nice location. This only works for new locations at best, but not those looking to pick up available houses from relocaters.

This would be very punishing on the older servers because not only are they very highly populated, they have an enormous amount of long time players. It also punishes newer players. Just because someone isn't a veteran doesn't mean they will appreciate housing less nor does it mean they are less deserving.

I'm a Legacy account, so I wouldn't complain if this was implemented, but it would still cause unrest and frustration and not really solve the issue except for some of us.

It would feel pretty unfair to newer players, particularly since SE markets FFXIV's housing as a flagship feature.

Interesting idea. It's something to be considered at least!

This is a horrible idea tbh and wouldn't improve the current situation at all - the exact same amount of players would get the shaft with the only change being who doesn't; in this case, "veterans". I mean, it might suck a little less if this were to be implemented but it would still suck nonetheless.

Yeah, make housing pay-to-win (reminder: game time cards exist). That's bound to make everyone happy.

Basically this. I get where OP is coming from... but in the end, it would just leave people out and that's a bit unfair. Ultimately, I think everyone deserves a fair shot at housing with us all on equal footing (and I say this as someone who has been playing since closed beta). Those people who have been around for a long time already have the advantage of being established enough to have the money. New players who wanted a house would have had to work very hard to make that gil in a shorter span of time and I think their efforts deserved to be acknowledged, too.

Besides which, servers like Balmung are overflowing with long term subscribers and legacy players. I'm pretty sure many would still miss out even among the veterans on servers like that...

Well it should of course be implemented with other new features such as one house per account or server.

I'm on Balmung and I think it would work out fine. And I actually am of the opinion that older players are more deserving. They've paid to keep the game going for a long time.

It's a flagship feature that even a lot of older players can't access. And it doesn't mean no new players will get housing. Just that they should start on lower pop servers that don't have as many older player.

And a lot of people aren't happy with that. Maybe it will finally change...

But I don't think priority by account age is the way to do it, personally.

Sounds pretty hostile and daunting to new players. I'd vote no.

Just because I've played since 1.0 in no way means I'm more deserving of any particular game feature. By all means reward "loyalty" but not by denying others things.

I know some players who have been playing for far longer than me and they're not particularly attached to their houses. One of them had a warning for the demolition timer. I enter my house every day. Are you going to argue that they're more deserving of a house than I am simply because they paid more real money to SE? Even though I love and use my own house significantly more than they do?

I think the veteran accessibility would go well with the 1 FC/1 personal per account idea. It is good in preventing low level 1-man FCs from monopolizing future housing markets. Having shell FCs owning houses with characters lower than level 50 is very suspicious.

Not sure if mentioned, but veteran qualification should be based on play time or simply 2.0 story completion achievements, rather than setting the bar to exclude majority of the new player base.

By your MARKERS I'm LEGACY, and I think that is UNFAIR.
I could buy 30 plots of land.

According to the newest September FFXIV census, people with high subscription days are only a small percentile of the player base. I do not think FFXIV wants to lock housing behind this system, which will only result in disappointment among new players who genuinely wants a house for their own sake or FC. Meanwhile, I am pretty sure majority of the house monopolizers are veterans, who can simply give their existing house to their alts just so that they can purchase more. This would not solve the issue, not to mention additional resources and efforts in manage the time slots. I much rather they put more effect in actually fixing the issue, instead of being encouraged to apply more temporary band-aids.

Like most housing "solutions," this is just a justification for why group A deserves housing more than group B, by someone who glosses over that they are part of group A.

"Veteran" already got in the past easier way to have house than "young" people.
Earlier you played FFXIV, more money you had when house were not cheap as now, and so, more you could buy house...
I had mine this way.

I dislike to reward with anything that offers gameplay because "you are older" ...

BUT your idea could be good in other way : FC before personnal
YES there is shitty FC useless, i know, but if it helps "normal" FC to get house, i think it will be a GOOD thing

SE has been doing a lot to help new players catch up to veterans in the shortest time

Change in veteran rewards, level/story skip potion, roulette and WT bonus to inject veterans into old contents

You think they will lock down houses to veterans? Not a chance

I assume that would make no difference on my server where over half are legacy players with more than enough money to buy up all the plots. And they would, 3+ each home or more just because they can before the second wave of longtime players even has a chance. Until there is a limit on how many homes any given account can have, there will always be a shortage.

This literally would just swap around who owns multiple houses per ward.

You & other long time vets were rewarded with playing a game you enjoy. Had you (general you, not you specifically) used time and experience better, you probably would have had a house already lol
