new job suggestions

Dear Square Enix, I have played FFXIV and FFXI since their releases and prerelease and have enjoyed them for several several years. however I have a request that your development team could potentially look into. I ask that you look into a melee DPS Class that uses a pet, like beastmaster. I love beastmaster, always have. I truly believe it would make a great job to play and attract several players. nothing like fighting along side a bear or tiger or whatever else you seem appropriate.

I was thinking about this post since I read it, and something about it feels off.
I think it's the concept of a melee + pet.
I think you'd really have to focus this class in on an almost 'support' based concept. So that the pet does most of the 'damage' while the master is using 'shouts' and 'calls' to buff up and support the pet and the party.
In addition, I'd link the pet to attacks that have a set duration before the pet returns. Like a "pounce attack" which causes the pet to run forward, hit the target for X seconds, then return. So the pet is actually following orders instead of acting autonomously. It's a bit more accurate to how a real life animal trainer would handle them.

Hmm i bite I do love beast master I thought this might be kind a trap. I do agree beastmaster should be melee use of a whip and pet jobs. I know for make or post on beastmaster threads and make a lot of them

Given how clunky their pet system is, a melee DPS that takes on the aspect of a beast would probably be less infuriating to play.

with The Diadem as area one make great use this for beast master and pet for the beastmaster

Beast master have pet would be a great system look if you look squardon that pet system as well it has show sign of improvements

I can see them doing something like Beastmaster it wouldn't be too difficult I wouldn't think. Maybe instead of a cast bar use items like the Gyshal greens etc to call forth a pet. Also a job with a Whip would be pretty cool.

see when you create a new jobs you also create recipe for craftering jobs aswell

As much as I'd like this, they fail even to properly balance the classes they already have. I'd rather they focus on fixing all the issues with the current jobs than adding new ones.

Adding classes to the game is more akin to 'Marketing' than Balance. It's design is primarily to increase sub numbers and get players from an 'inactive account' state to an 'active account' state.
It's not directly concerned with existing class balance, only indirectly.

As for a whip, I wouldn't mind seeing a 'melee weapon' with a bit more range to it. So you could have 'long range', 'mid range', 'melee range' rather than simply 'melee' and 'not-melee'

question for lelila how would you like them to fix the balance

I all for beastmaster be whip and pet basic jobs where beastmaster get keep they pets

when a new job is add most time SE will add new stuff for crafter for that new jobs

in the case beastmaster or puppetmaster one could add alot to different crafter

puppetmaster
goldsmith and black smith would be able get new recipes

i not one against open discussion though i just think there select area where a job like beast master doesn't work like tank. my opinion does change
