This is infuriating. I can barely read what NPC's say anymore. I can understand taking the option away if they put it somewhere else, but I just spent a half an hour trying to dig through menu options to find a way to fix it.
Is there some kind of work around for PC? Even increasing the UI size just makes everything BUT the NPC dialogue larger.
SE doesn't care about vision impaired people. They've shown they don't care about all of us who pay a fortune into their game in general, so why should they care disabled people?
I can't read anything now, thanks for being awesome, SE. /sarcasm
I've got perfect eyesight but because I'm playing on PC on a 32" TV and I'm not sat practically on top of the damn thing I can't read a damn thing.
I used to be able to just scale the text, sure it was annoying having to change the setting on every single login but at least I had the option, why in the world would you remove this?
Same. Please just make these 3 "unique" UI elements customizable independantly!! (Player Name Tile/NPC Dialog Box/Ambiant Bubble Text)
So they actually removed this feature? I was able to right click on a dialog bubble to increase it's size up through last night, but this afternoon nothing happens when I right click. I was wondering if there was some sort of option I might have accidentally toggled to disable this feature, but I guess not.
That's really disappointing. I don't have the greatest vision, so that feature was quite nice to have. I'll probably be just skipping through more dialog now instead of trying to strain to read it.
Even the right-click to change size was a bit of a workaround (though far better than nothing). This should just be in the HUD Layout menu, where we could easily change its size and position just as we do with most HUD elements.
Do you have "Enlarge system UI" checked under System Configuration / Display Settings? Though a single on/off setting and not as configurable as many would like, that checkbox is for enlarging the dialog box and main menu (without making the rest of the UI bigger like the 150 setting does).
The only other UI related setting I seem to have under system config/display settings is default UI size. For me taht setting was by default at 140% which is the max, and it doesn't seem to affect the size of the dialog boxes anyway. :(
Do you have this "Enlarge System UI" checkbox?
It might be specific to PS4. I'm not sure on that. The patch notes when it was added (4.01) mentioned that it's there because of a PS4 issue, but not explicitly whether it's limited to PS4.

I guess they couldn't be bothered to fix it during the maintenance that just finished, either.
Ah, that setting must be only for PS4 then. I mean obviously only ps4 players would want to adjust that, and having the workaround option on PC was just creating clutter. Sigh. Oh well. Maybe they will rethink it in the future.
Trust me when I say, that setting doesn't make it nearly as big as it needs to be if you're playing on PS4 Pro + 4K TV at normal viewing distance. The story text is far too small, I can't even play the game right now because of this.
Please, S-E, give us the option to change the story text bubble size again. Reading via the chat box isn't much of an option because the text shows up after you go to the next text bubble and it also ruins the immersion.
It would be nice to permanently set the story text bubble size also, but I'd be perfectly fine with just being able to set it to 140% or whatever. P l e a s e!
It doesn't make a big enough difference for 4K screens anyway. Need actual options to increase the text bubble size.
That option also increased the size of the floating text (like when the name of different areas show up or notifications of when a retainer has sold something/completely a venture) and trust me it gets way too big and annoying. It also increases the side of the menu, which I know some people would like, but me personally do not enjoy.
It's a simple request: let us resize the different aspects of the HUD like we want them to be. Or, at the very least, give us back the option we had to resize the NPC text boxes. It's stupid that we even have to ask for this. People should not have to have trouble reading the text in a STORY DRIVEN GAME where ALL IMPORTANT THINGS are conveyed through text!
(And while you're at it, let ps4 players disable motion blur, PLEASE!)
And now we get to see if they're going to bother fixing it with Patch 4.11 tomorrow... who else thinks it's unlikely?
They need to just make it an official part of the HUD like everything else, so that it can be resized and moved to a different area of the screen and actually stay where it's moved. This shouldn't but such a difficult request, yet it seems SE just doesn't care about vision impaired people. I can't even run quests without someone else in the room to help me read the dialogue now.
Ive been submitting tickets for years begging SE to change the quest location circle that appears on the map to a different color not so similar to the actual map color. Being colorblind in this game is torture.
...don't even get me started on the yellow gatherer nod icons on the minimap. T.T
