The first boss of the Drowned City of Skalla seems to have his attacked names mixed up:
"Hydro Pull" pushed us away while
"Hydro Push" pulled us in.
Have they been accidentally switched?

Yeah it's weird....I've chalked it up to bad translations, similar to the second boss of The Temple of the Fist.
Kelpie clearly needs to be taught a lesson in physics.
On the serious, I think we can safely call it an oops in the EN entries.
Compared to the other languages, it is reversed. This is an ENG localization mistake.
http://xivdb.com/action/9809/hydro+push (other three languages says contract or suction or pull)
http://xivdb.com/action/9810/hydro+pull (other three languages say push or thrust)
EDIT: Ironically, I reversed the links lol. Fixed now.
Yeah they got the translation mixed.
I play on JP client, and my guildies plays on EN client.
I was wondering why they were going to the opposite way until we figured out that they got the EN side wrong lol
They need to fix this. Haha.
Going to be honest, this is an embarrassing error. Did they even proofread, let alone playtest?
I actually ended up thinking this was intentional as a "LEL YOU THOUGHT".
I'll keep posting in this every day until it gets fixed.
Wasnt in last nights hot fixes.
(I actually had a group who tried to argue it wasnt a typo, but that its from the perspective of the boss, which doesnt make any sense, when u get pushes away, he's pushing the water away from himself. when hes pulling the water towards himself, he'd also be pulling you as well, but they kept saying that makes no sense lol...)
Honestly I kinda want them to keep it. Its a funny little moment when it catches you off-guard the first time but it isn't a one-shot mechanic either, so its easy to learn and still do the fight in one go.
I think the Kelpi is Pulling and Pushing the water not pulling and pushing the players. :B
Its right in german tho.
The more important question is when can we get that model as a mount? Great artwork guys - I wants one (and more in different colors.)
My guess is that it was a simple copy/paste error. The text is correct, it is just in the wrong cells or has the tags backwards. It is a pretty easy to make human error and I am sure that we have all done something similar at some point. I know I have.
If it's really such a simple error, it's pretty disappointing it wasn't included in the recent hotfixes.
I had figured that it was intentional seeing as Kelpie are shapeshifting tricksters in Scottish mythology that are said to inhabit the lochs of Scotland. My wife picked up on it right away because of Harry Potter lol.
I personally think its not intentional, but if it were, I'd be upset if they once again changed things on us like this.
From a mechanics perspective this is a poor justification. There is no hint of the boss being a trickster other than what you said and lies are not part of its mechanics (see 24man). The mechanics are confusing and if intentional go against SEs design of clear and concise mechanics, and it is far more likely (even without th evidence of other languages - i.e. the concrete proof) that this is an error
They're not common knowledge. They're common knowledge if you've been around boats. Granted, port star fore & aft are mentioned elsewhere in the game, but these are not "common knowledge" terms. They're specialized nautical & aeronautical terms that don't appear in the top 5000 english word frequency list (basic vocabulary is around the 2k top frequency). This is like saying intractable, idempotent and omnifarious are "common knowledge".
Just because a word isn't in the Top 5000 doesn't mean it's specialized vocabulary that never comes up in normal life. Other commonly-understood words missing from the 5K include: gigantic, windmill, and pancake. You're gonna need something a little more definitive.
"I don't have an actual rebuttal to your argument, so I'm going to just imply that you're on drugs."
As I linked before, the English version is the complete opposite of the other three languages.
And the example with Fire III and Firaga is something else entirely, as was explained by Fernehawles before. Here's the details on it, it's a repost of the now defunct beta forums: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._to_a/cbarprv/
Geez, still no comment from the GM or DEVs on this.
This was definitely confusing the first time through, and I've seen several people mess it up, so it should certainly be addressed (especially since this seems to be an EN-only issue).
As for the nautical terms in Temple of the Fist, while I knew what was meant I could understand people who weren't familiar with sea or air craft not knowing what 'port' or 'star' meant. At least with that one you can get around that issue by thinking of it as "the one that's not called 'beFORE and AFTer' ", since those are much more common terms.
I remember temple of the fist as "Fore = Forward/front" and the other one as sides. (usually wait at the side by default in case im too slow to make that connection)
But I never understood the point of saying port, stern, fore, aft.
people say its because left/right is too vague, to which the same applies to port/stern.
"Who's left/right?"
Who's port/stern? mine or yours?
Obviously the ships, which is why they dont say "The ships" port/stern.
So i can only guess the real reason is that the words originated nearly the same time left/right (and their language equivalent) came about.
Am I the only one who actually enjoyed that troll surprise? I think it's actually a nice little surprise for what could have been another simple kill x till you reach the end dungeon. In fact I'll like it to be implemented in more mechanics just so it makes dungeon runs a little more entertaining.
Edit: On that note, that explains why I was the only one who messed up the mechanics so badly the first time I was there, the other three members in my party were playing with the Japanese client.
was this fixed? wasnt listed in the list of fixes, but i also wont be able to test it out for a long while.
