Bring Sora and co. to Eorzea for the release of KH3! Give us keyblade weapons :D
I'd do this event even if it were Fates...(please don't do this to us, SE)
Having a keyblade would be amazing. It'd be like Lightning since they go to different worlds, so lore wise it could happen.
Yeah! It would make sense for them to visit, maybe there could even be a gummi ship mount
I would hang myself. Yokai Watch was bad enough...
Donald's staff would be good for BLM. And flavor test would say something about the lack of healing. And I'd love the dog face shield.
Someone's been reading too much between the lines about the english blogpost regarding the simplified job gauges.
What's wrong with keyblades? I want my keyblade and Sora outfit. Yes pls, SE gimme. <3
...But FFXIV wont be around once KH3 comes out. /s. XD
Ignoring my personal hatred for Kingdom Hearts, a KH crossover is highly unlikely to ever happen, and not just for the legal nightmare it would require (seeing as it's populated with Disney characters and is co-produced by Disney, and would thus require a lot of copyright wrangling to be negotiated first, which would be too costly for SE to bother with for something that is a short term event in FFXIV), all the previous crossover events have all had some deeper connection to FFXIV itself and the development team in particular.
Like the FFXI events were to celebrate FFXI's eleventh anniversary of service and official winding up of it's storyline while also paying tribute to FFXI's producer who was also the original producer of FFXIV before Yoshi took over (Hiromichi Tanaka), and the FFXIII event was actually a result of a private joke between Yoshi and FFXIII's producer Motomu Toriyama (who had a FFXIV miqo'te costume and Grand Company weapons for Lightning in Lightning Returns), and that Yoshi would "find some way to repay the compliment by having Lightning appear in FFXIV" (paraphrased), which officially was made to cross promote LR-FFXIII's worldwide launch.
As there is zero connection with Kingdom Hearts with the FFXIV team, and the only connection KH's producer Tetsuya Nomura has with FFXIV is he did some guest artwork for Heavensward's launch, I see this never happening (or at least highly unlikely I'm sorry to say).
We had a Dragon Quest event twice. It's not a FF title. Heck, we have a Yokai Watch even which has nothing to do with SE. A KH event is likely to happen then.
There is a big difference between a fellow game developer like Level 5 and the massive money hungry giant that is Disney.
Dragon Quest happened because Dragon Quest is Square Enix Property. Kingdom Hearts is a collaboration between 2 companies and as such they would need agreement from Disney. That sounds like a legal nightmare.
Like previous people have stated its very unlikely to happen ever. I'm not against the idea... I'm just incredibly doubtful that it would ever happen.
Also the reason there was a Dragon Quest event is it was to celebrate DQX's first anniversary of service, a game that was actually Yoshi's previous project (he left the DQX team to take up his post as producer of FFXIV in 2011 following Tanaka stepping down due to FFXIV 1.0's bungled development and launch).
And as Youkulm mentioned, the creator of Yo-Kai Watch is close friends with Yoshi so, yeah, there you are (and I want to make it clear I am definitely not accusing Yoshi of nepotism here as I have so much respect for him and the FFXIV team - if it came across that way I am deeply sorry - it's just that crossover events that are run in FFXIV with other games and series usually have to have some deeper connection to FFXIV itself and the development team in particular, and are not just added "because it's requested by players"). So again, for that reason I say a KH themed event in FFXIV is highly unlikely. That's just facing facts.
Also to be fair, the Dragon Quest event didn't really use any characters from the Dragon Quest franchise. There were monsters (three flavours of golems) from DQ, but that was about it. Every other character involved was a XIV race.
I will be more happy with a Nier event ;).
Still waiting on that FFXV event that was hinted. Would still rather have a Seiken Densetsu crossover, too.
EDIT:
Considering that it's in collaboration with Disney, this sounds like an utter licensing nightmare. I somehow doubt Disney would allow their characters in an event cross over in a "Teen" game (read: alcohol, drugs, prostitution, etc.).
If you mean Hollow Bastion/Radiant Garden, it's not a Final Fantasy world. It's just "a world" that's neither Disney, nor Final Fantasy. Also, the Final Fantasy characters in KH aren't "the same" as the ones from their respective games (Yuna, Rikku and Paine for example. Selphie, Tidus and Wakka are another example, as they're born the Destiny Islands).
KH and FF are two completely different universes.
I talked to my fc mates about this the other day and I have a horrible, desperate need. I even assigned the weapons per jobs, I need this so badly.
PLD: Kingdom Key and Goofy's Shield
WAR: Lexaeus' massive sword.
DRK: Saix's greatsword
SCH: Vexen's shield made into a book. [This frees the PLD slot for Goofy, as well as more closely follows Vexen's character themes]
AST: an astroglobe themed around Luxord's cards
MNK: Axel's chakrams turned knuckles
DRG: Xaldin's lances
NIN: Larxene's daggers
BRD: Demyx's citar
MCH: Xigbar's guns
SMN: Zexion's book
WHM & BLM: Marluxia's Scythe and Donald's Staff, with me leaning towards WHM getting Donald's staff. [Finally that thing will be used to healing someone.]
And here's where this gets a bit unfair, but fits only too well:
SAM: Oblivion Keyblade
RDM: Oathkeeper Keyblade. [Crystal is the Paopu fruit from the weapon's original design, will fit a bit better than the sea-shell charm, imo.]
If only because I really don't see them leaving out two of the most recognizable Keyblades and that easily rides on the new jobs' hype
KH event, Nier event or XV event. Any of the three will do for me.
Much prefer we get a XV or Nier event before kingdom farts. The immersion breaking of the yokai stuff was bad enough, kingdom farts would just be utterly stupid for that.
No just no
>Immersion breaking
>Wants Nier

We havent had a FFXV event, no Nier: Automata event, no Dragon Quest XI event, I doubt we will get a Kingdom Hearts event. Disney is known for being very protective of their brand, I doubt we will see Micky, Goofy or Donald in FFXIV.
Disney would never let any of their properties exist in a game that has actual swords, daggers, stabbing, death and people being set on fire in it.
I don't think seeing Donald Duck bopping around Gridania would add anything to the game for me personally - but each to their own.
Seiken Densestsu however – now that would work.
KH itself has FF characters fighting with their weapons. This includes Sephiroth's sword, Cloud's buster sword, and Squall/Leon's gunsword, not to mention Tiffa's liberal use of her fists. The Keyblade was designed so that Mickey himself wouldn't be shown using an actual sword, and Goofy uses a shield rather than a sword for that same reason, but that's where the limitation ends. So long as Disney's own charas - which won't even need to appear in the game themselves, mind - don't use those weapons there's nothing stopping this from happening (well, on a conceptual level at least)
You may be right – but I still question why you would want Disney characters in FFXIV in the first place. If you take them out of the equation you're left with FF characters and Sora (and the other generic clones of him that make up the roster).
Also KH is basically a cartoon – how would that translate to ffxiv? Personally I find the Yokai stuff completely jarring – though I appreciate it's just not my bag and other like it. But please god don't do some horrific 'realistic' render of Sora or god forbid – Mickey and Goofy.
Gimme my keyblade!!!! :D
I fully support this just for having a keyblade.
While I loved Kingdom Hearts (the first game, anyway), I'm pretty neutral on the idea of a KH crossover. I neither want it, nor am repelled by the idea. I gotta wonder, though:
Why are people fascinated by Keyblades? I mean, most of them basically amount to blunt swords (particularly the classic "Kingdom" Keyblade). So you're essentially bludgeoning things to death with a big metal stick.
Gunblades, I can sort of get, even if they don't appeal to me personally. It's a Gun! It's a Blade! It's two weapons in one! But Keyblade? It's a Key! Its... not really a Blade at all! What am I supposed to do with this thing, exactly???
I accepted Keyblades in the KH games because I understood that Disney would want to tone things down a bit. But they're still pretty silly.
Sora, Riku and Kairi are more than enough to hold an event together. The Yokai event had the one NPC aside from the Yokai themselves which were more the awards than people.
How much KH have you played? KH is only as much a cartoon as the world they go to, with things like the old Steamboat Willie world being one of the extreme examples. That's literally one of the rules of their lore (how well they keep to it is a different matter...). Sora, Riku and Kairi are SE characters and as such can fit quite well with FFXIV's current rendering engine. There're haircuts similar to Sora's and Riku's in the game already and Kairi's is actually kind of simple for a would be main chara like her.Quote:

The story premise basically writes itself, on top of it all - either Heartless have reached Eorzea, or Nobodies would like to turn the WoL into one of their own, being obviously strong-hearted and thus would produce a Nobody when turned into a Heartless. Whoever charas partake in the event got here to stop this. Gummi ship mount as the final award once you get all the weapons, ties it all up with a neat ribbon. Boom.
The one thing I'd rather die before seeing is Pete associating with the Ascians. That's my line in the sand.
