The trick is never log off. The game only needs to check in with PSN once when it starts up. After than, if psn goes down but if you're still logged in you'll be fine.
That's what I used to do on my PS4. It lasted a year and a bit before it started sounding like a jet engine on collision course. Good luck.
Yea I started looking at PCs lol this PSN crap is annoying
beenplaying this game since launch on ps4, I've never had a login issue because psn neither my ps4 sounds like a jet engine I keep hearing few people saying they have problem because of psn but I've never had this happened to me. maybe it's some of you only?
Honestly the only reason I switched was because my ps4 was dying a slow and drawn out death. Had to spend the money on something so went with PC. Now I have a ping reducer and a way to see my own dps so I can never go back. My ps4 controllers work fine on pc too so after the initial set up it's not too much different.
I seriously miss the saved files going to cloud that I have with psn+ though that happened in the background with zero effort on my behalf. And miss the onscreen keyboard at times when I'm lazing back and don't wanna sit up to reach my keyboard. But otherwise theyre both pretty much the same.
That's the downside of playing this on the PlayStation. Or any online activity really. PSN problems from DDoS to technical issues can last for hours or days and you can't do a thing about it. Wish you could just rely on your internet connection for it, but you're stuck with being both that and their end working at the same time.
uhm, sounds like you let the PS4 running for weeks nonstop?
you can return to the title screen (the menu between launcher and character selection) and put the PS4 into rest mode. this way you are still logged in when you activate the PS4 again, without letting it run for weeks^^
you only have to do the PSN-check again when you have to update the FF14 launcher (or if you want to play any other game than FF14 xD)
I never ever ever turned my ps4 off for months on end and now it sounds like a jet engine going full afterburner lol i think it might be dying tbh. I do it to avoid having to log into the crap service that is psn just to play XIV, I normally find myself logged out of it.
You don't need to be signed into psn or have ps+ to play this game.
It even effected the people who were online since last night.
As others have previously stated, PSN is only required to open the launcher to check for updates. You can log out after.
Tbh, I didn't even know there was going to be maintenance. Or that there already was maintenance. Or whatever. I'm never awake during those minutes/hours. My connection is totally fine now.
PSN never gave me problems so I'm not sure what everyone else has experienced. I also refuse to leave my PS4 in standby mode for too long, no matter how many people tell me that it was made to stay in standby mode.
The only time I've had FFXIV related issues on the PS4 was when it was forced to shut off (during power outage) and the FFXIV launcher started downloading those 8 hrs of patches all over again. RIP. 。:゚( ;´∩`; )゚:。 I'm so happy that bug has been fixed. I used to get so anxious during storms.
In my mind going ps4->PC is just trading one set of problems for another.
The thing is, if you are signed in to PSN within 24 hours of Maintenance, you will never have an issue connecting to FFXIV. I generally use Rest Mode 100% of the time, so I'm never signed out of PSN. Signing into FFXIV does not become an issue at that point.
Exactly.
I did PC gaming for a few years. I kept a spare keyboard, mouse and graphics card. And don't get me started on driver conflicts.
You'll need a spare keyboard and mouse as much as you'll need a spare gamepad o.o and also you can use that gamepad on PC as well. About driver conflicts, never had any and I use pcs since windows 3.1, you just install what is needed and have fun. But yes i agree with you on the point that pcs does requires a little more knowledge than PS4 and not everyone wants to lose their time with that. Which is really a matter of choice, you lose customization but you get practicality.
Not saying that PS4 sucks, I have one and its awesome!!! but PS4 is nothing more than a branded PC and it's hardware can fail just like a PC, just do a google search or youtube search and you'll find a lot of ppl complaining about it. I'm actually one of the happy ppl that lost a PS4 in the past, but at least now I got a PS4PRO.
If your PS4 starts to sound like its struggling to get cool air then you need to get a vacuum hose and suck out the dust through all of the vent holes which should be done once a month. The best way to clean out your PS4 is to take off the cover + remove the heat plating inside and blow it out with an air can or suck up the dust with a vacuum.
ONLY TAKE APART YOUR PS4 IF YOU NO LONGER HAVE A WARRANTY AS THIS WOULD VOID YOUR WARRANTY. Also watch a video on how to take a PS4 apart so you don't screw up any ribbon cables or miss any screws. If you do take the PS4 apart please make sure you unplug the PS4 and move it to a table where there is no carpet like in the kitchen as static electricity can short out your board.
The PS4 is just like a PC and needs to be cleaned out monthly so your fans work as intended. If not you risk burning them out and causing your ps4 to over heat....
I've taken it apart and cleaned it a few times. The issue is that its a first generation ps4 that was left on for almost 2 years. The first generations especially had massively noisy af fans.
I still have my 1st gen PS4 and its still running w/out any issues. The fan is just as quiet as it was when I first turned it on. I turn it off when I am not using it for a good reason and I do monthly preventive maintenance which only takes 10 mins to do.
Every 3 months i go through old game and picture files and delete stuff I dont need any more. If you keep it clean it should last till its time to get the PS5.
Good for you. It must be impossible for any other ps4 users to have issues.
Here's a gold star.

@ Astral my first PS4 i had loud noises from time to time but this was even soon after i had it, thankfully my Pro is vey good but perhaps i should do what you suggested.
Though i do not (well rarely do) leave my PS4 on in rest mode and i always but a cover back over top it when i do not use it, my friend laughs at me for this...
As far as PSN maintenance i have no issues with it, at least SE tell us when it is, when i feel we should get notifications on our console when they are...
And yes PSN itself sucks which is a shame as the console is great
Do you guys who have PS4's impersonating jets not utilize sleep mode?
