Do you farm mounts/minions on alts?

I currently have three characters (though one is still leveling) and find myself wanting to use some of the mounts/minions I have on my main on my alts. I especially like birds, but only been able to successfully farm Rose and White lanners so far. Really wanting to use them on my other characters; I have got them both on my other level 70 too, and am planning to do the same on my third alt.

Anyone else a altoholic that does this? Of course I wouldn't have to put myself through the misery if they were account-wide. ._. Though I guess it isn't so bad as Rose and White are pretty easy to get. I doubt I'll ever bother trying to get Kirin again.

Same goes for some minions; everyone should have Ultros of course.

While I have started to slowly level two of my oldest charas (My first chara and a relatively new (pre-HW) chara), I have found myself demotivated in farming much with them. That said. My main didn't get a single minion from the SB dungeons. While my second highest chara (mid SB leveling) has gotten 3!

im in for mount /minion account wide!

This is exactly the reason why I don't have a alt...all the minions, all the mounts, and all those hard-earned titles...have to start all over again

And the worst of all my OCD will not stop until I have them all, sooooooo much work and too little time

I have a main character, and four alts.

I only farm on my main, and do whatever I can in events on my alts.

I don't focus on my alts as much as I do my main.

Why shouldn't mounts be account wide? I don't really understand why alts get so little love. I have 4 alts on Siren in addition to my main who are all end game capable and 1 about to enter SB once she hits 60. It's the only alt I did a story jump for. I wish it were different but I don't think it ever will be.

And I don't farm mounts on my alts. I'll do content with friends and get some as I play with them but I don't focus trying to duplicate things i have on my alts.

I wish they were account wide so I didn't have to farm on alts too; but as they aren't I feel forced to farm on all my characters. I do have severe OCD so maybe that's a reason; also I worry if I decide to switch mains I will be missing a lot of mounts/minions.

I obtained the glowing Yokai mount on my main and an alt, as well as the non-glowy one on either 6 or 7 (I forget) others. Don't be me. Turn back now before it's too late!

In all seriousness, I agree that at the very least *certain* mounts and minions should be account-wide, or purchasable through the Calamity Salvager or something on an account that has already obtained them. However it's done though (if ever), should be done in a way that won't prevent the alt from doing the quests/event/content the reward came from if they would still like to.

Also Mog Station minions/mounts should ALL be account-wide, SE! :mad:

I literally opted to fantasia and name change last night SPECIFICALLY for this reason. I have over 100 minions and titles I literally can never earn again.

Plus, all the cash shop stuff IS NOT account wide! So all the old goodies I use would need to be bought AGAIN if I wanted them!

I see nothing wrong with account wide. Leveled alts are not, I think, exactly a common practice in this game. So I don't think any fear of impacting the game has merit, should that ever be a concern. Alongside that, I do wish they would introduce a damn glamour system that is server stored (also ideally account wide). >:[ I promise I won't reduce the number of retainers I sub!

If it's something you buy in the Mogstation I think it should be account wide, all the time, but something we got from a quest/achievement/drop I think should stay as it is, per character. I have 2 main characters (on two accounts) and 6 other characters/alts I use from time to time. Why should an alt have the character just because my main got it on a drop. That makes no sense :S Alts are separate characters.

No, I don't go out of my way to farm anything on my alt. She's for relaxing with. I'm slow boating all the content, reading all the quests, chatting with all the NPCs and watching all the cut scenes! The only reason she has more than the chocobo mount is because it was either an account wide grant or it was easy to get (I have the first yo-kai mount, but won't get the second on my alt while my main suffered last year runnning all the Fates for the second mount and all the weapons.).

I do the same, all on my main character, while my alts get the account-wide items and event items. I have limited time so i can't do things all over again for the alt. I created my alt so I can have a one-man FC that my main char can take over in the event Things get bad with my current FC, which so far is still doing good.

I guess then that it depends on what purpose you made your alt for and how much time you got to play.

New to the game, wife and I decided to make the switch a few weeks ago from our 12 years of World of Warcraft. So, mounts and pets are not account bound? So basically it's like the old days of Wow, where if you had an alt you had to farm everything all over again? OH BOY!!

Yup, pretty much. I still play WoW and am thankful I don't have to farm my 200+ mounts on my 40+ alts. Yes I'm an altoholic to the extreme.

Been trying to restrain myself from creating an army of alts on FFXIV too... but its a struggle. ._.

Yep. The only account wide items are veteran rewards and three cash shop mounts (Sleipnir, Bennu and Fat Moogle). On the plus side, you only need to level a second character if you want to get around tomestone, Savage and craft Specialist restrictions. Unlike WoW, you can play and level every class on a single character.

I noticed this and think it is pretty awesome. I am a huge altoholic in World of Warcraft so being able to have one character with multiple jobs seems great.

I don't farm mounts or minions on my alt. It's too much work. The only exception is the gold saucer stuff because the cacpot takes barely any time. I'd like more things to be account-wide, personally.

some minions i have tried to farm for my alts, mainly for rp, but mainly i dont farm for mounts or minions for my alts.

I don't use Alts I find them a waste of time. Why would you want to repeat what you do 3 times or 8 times? When you can do it all with 1? A bit like buying 8 copies of the same game and playing it over and over again doing the exact same thing. boring if you ask me an totally pointless.

The ONLY benefit I find by having ONE extra character is for specialist and that's it. I know there's people out there that have lots and lots of alts so they can raid with other people. Seems noble enough but a whole waste of time IMO.

The first 15 levels of MSQ is why I started with alts. I wanted to see all the city questioned (which you can not do on one character). Then I got addicted. Although I mostly do my alts now when I want to cry.

I am collecting the watch weapons an alt. If I don't make it oh well.

I have two alts, one of them was actually my very first character that I made on Adamantoise, but he wasn't even level 20 so I just restarted on Cactuar. Aside from that, I haven't touched them since. I kind of have them for when I want to still play FF, but want to remain anonymous.

As for farming mounts/minions on them...I think I will pass on that. Especially with how long it took to get some of the ones I have on my main.

Other than the freebie event minions, I don't go out of my way to get the same mounts/minions on each character. I tend to try and assign mounts/minions/barding to characters I think they match up with. Would love if they made this stuff account wide.

Anyway; yes alts can be a chore on this game, but sometimes I just want to play a different character. I love making up characters in general (wouldn't mind being an author), designing them, creating their personality.... so when I play a game that lets you create your own playable character, I always have a lot of ideas... and usually end up trying to make a bunch of different ones. Yeah its probably an addiction.

Account-wide needs to be a thing for mounts, minions and barding. Maybe somehow glamours too (a system similar to WoW's new transmog system would be awesome). ESO also has account-wide mounts, pets and costumes. Can't speak for any other MMOs though as I only play those.

I get easy ones on my alts, like from events, but I'm not picky about getting everything for them.

Anything bought from the Mog Station should be account-wide.

I don't really see that the ones from in-game achievements would need to be account-wide, though. (For instance, the first time the Yokai event came around, I finished everything on my main and only got part way through on a couple alts. This time it wouldn't give me anything to do if I didn't have those other alts who hadn't yet finished everything.)

Better an alt addiction than a fanta one! I used to feel like I had the latter, 10 dollars to change a character and another 10 to rename builds up real fast. In comparison, leveling alts is free and you make easy money off them! ...so I have all 8 slots filled on Balmung ^^;

I usually get all of them holiday event items and if theres a mount/minion/title that suits them I try to casually farm it. My main gets priority, but once he gets everything I want for him, its off to the alts.

I have three characters and I try to get everything I can on all of them. Its a tad annoying when one character gets lucky drops (like puff of darkness) and then i lose repeatedly on the other characters. But I keep at it.

Yeah I think I've already spent too much on fantasias and renaming characters. Oh well. Making alts is cheaper, good point, haha.
