Day one player returning after 3.5 years

Just wanted to say hello to the community! I was a beta/day one player that stopped playing shortly after Titan HM was released. I have no clue why I stopped because I fell inlove with this game instantly. I decided to give it another go the other day and man am I hooked. Really love all the changes I started noticing right away, specifically the fact you don't need to level alt jobs for skills anymore.

I hopped on my main but was overwhelmed from 3.5 years of content pop ups, so decided to roll a Paladin and main a diff char. I'm brand new to tanking but did my first dungeon yesterday and really had a great and supportive group.

I'm glad to see the community is helpful and patient because it was quite toxic at first, but I guess you have that in any game.

I'm having a blast getting reacquainted with Eorzea and its inhabitants. Any tips I should be aware of or anything like that?

Anyways, just wanted to say hi to everyone and tell you that I missed you <3

I think as you're tanking now just remember to keep on top of your gear to always be fairly close to your level. Being geared as a tank is more important than it is for the other classes in general.

Glad you're having a good time! This game really is a wonderful place with a great community, just don't let a few bad apples ruin your fun if you do happen to encounter them.

Seeing returning players is always great because we can with confidence say you'll love ffxiv again. Tanking is a lot of fun now and the story and content is high quality like always.

If you haven't already, one thing you should unlock for quick leveling is the Challenge log which the quest is found in the Drowning Wench in Limsa Lominsa. It gives good weekly XP bonuses.

Welcome back, now rule 1 is have fun (thou I bet u probably got that covered) rule 2 is never fead the Toxic Trolls... or toxic players for that matter as they are just probably having a bad day & will be outa sight shortly (be is vote-kick or otherwise). Rule 3 is.... is there a rule 3? I mean rule 2 was added cause of "bad days", bah f it rule 3 is have EVEN MORE FUN!

Please keep all limbs inside the ride at all times. Any limbs outside the ride may be removed by wandering monsters. Healers may or may not laugh at you while reattaching said limbs. Please resist the urge to hit them with your shield.

thanks all! It's a few days later and I'm super hooked!! I just bought both expansions yesterday so I'm excited to see all the new content. I'm also brand new to tanking and have had no issues with people, I just tell them I'm a returning player and all is well :)

I am so excited to become a paladin, a couple more levels!

In all seriousness, though. Welcome back. You won't find many toxic people in lower level content, but once you start getting into Heavensward you might see some people who don't like certain content and leave.

Welcome back and the game is still toxic but it also has some pretty nice people as well

Just remember to enjoy the story while leveling as it gets more and more epic when you are getting closer to SB ending, far too many just rush to the end and they really miss some movie quality stuff when it comes to story and storytelling.
