I actually get kicked out of DF groups just for boosting?

My friends wanted me to catch up with them on this character to play through Stormblood with them, and I was still a bit in HW because my work schedule has insane hours. I said screw it, and bought a boost for the DRK since I loved the gameplay of it and aesthetic and finished out HW tanking. ( should also mention I quit for about a year after HW came out because of personal issues )

I get to stormblood, and I do the first dungeon you unlock there and I get into the group and the only thing I see is ' lol nope, not gonna happen ' in the party chat and then i'm vote kicked.

is there really a stigma against boosted characters? Granted, I'm not the best tank around, but I can keep hate on me quite easily, and I haven't had many wipes throughout most of the instances I've ran.

Did you get kicked without even doing a single pull?

In that case, there's no stigma, this is a really rare situation that can unfortunatly happen.
However, if the player is performing extremely bad so that it's almost impossible to make one step without dying or else and people notice he bought the potion, yes there might kick these people.

You can't even vote kick in DF until at least 5 minutes has elapsed.

Something really doesn't add up here.

Are you sure that was the reason you were kicked? Did a pull go horribly wrong or something? There has to be more to the story since you can't kick a person out of a duty until at least 5 minutes have elapsed.

Sorry, I should've clarified, english isn't my first language so I do apologize. I was in the dungeon for at least 10 mins, and I did pull mobs forwards and I will admit that I did pull more than I intended, but I did pop CD's, and I did health regen rotations as well. Just out of the blue, the healer just said that and kicked me. I was in full out shire gear from the boost itself, so my gear wasn't the problem. Didn't die, or did any of the mobs move towards the DPS or healer in any way.

From your description, it sounds like you were fulfilling your role fine, though it's possible you're doing something incorrectly without realizing it's a problem. Either way, assuming they kicked you for gameplay reasons, they should have at least mentioned what they thought you were doing wrong. If it's something as simple as overpulling, a quick "slow down" would have probably solved the issue. Just suddenly kicking you seems unnecessarily harsh.

It could be because you boosted, but I doubt it. I don't see any trend of kicking boosters if they're not causing problems due to inexperience.

It's alright, no worries. ^^ It honestly could have been that you got a healer that didn't want to deal with larger pulls, either out of laziness or out of not being geared enough (though from the sound of their comment, if that's what they actually said, then it was probably just out of laziness). I'm sorry you had to deal with that, but generally, so long as potion users are receptive to advice and/or criticisms to better perform, then parties generally don't care about if they jumped or not. At least, in my experience.

Doesn't sound like you did enough for a vote kick to be justified and you came across people who have no patience to adapt to a situation. Probably not related to character boosting and they just had a preference for easier small pulls.

The first dungeon for Stormblood? The ghost island one (forgot name)? That one is extremely simple even if there was a bad tank I don't see how that is enough to kick for. It would be annoying at worst, but I probably wouldn't kick. Either way, it doesn't matter you are a tank, you will get another queue instantly.

Seems to me a combo of 1/ not being primary E speaking (F/D have such a wonderful reputation you know ;) ) 2/ not being overgeared (like most of us are now) and thus forcing healer to actually heal over dpsing ...

Well I don't see the issue, besides the healer as already mentioned, didn't want to deal with the "undergeared". Needless to say, that your ilvl 260 is still overgeared for the place, even tho mobs hit like a truck but not within the first 10 minutes of the dungeon lol. Try this, since you got enough tomes anyway from regular roulette's, go update your gear to ilvl 270, not that you need it but hey just in case somebody examine you. Replace that ilvl 245 with either the ilvl 260 (can only upgrade one anyways), or get a ilvl 250/255 crafted, put some materia in it, aim for the V don't need to go for the maxed out VI's. Next time you get a healer like that, at least it won't be the gear that's an issue, and you will be able to get rid of the healer after 10 minutes ;)

In most cases, moment a higher level healer/tank see's a bonus message, they gonna initiate the kick unless they do need the bonus tomes. Nobody checks anymore if somebody maybe came prepared, might be an alt, or hell even explain mechanics/fights. Can't be bothered and kicking is so much easier, I guess lol.

Sadly, not every boosted will know their job so well (and sadder, even the non-boosted can be just as bad). Sooner or later, everyone's going to have a bad experience with a boosted player, and not everyone will respond very kindly. Yours seems more of a minority case, being someone that had been playing the game and just wanted jumped up, rather than new players jumping in with no knowledge (or desire to learn). But, not everyone is patient enough to sort out the good players from the bad, if they can just judge a whole group at once.

Point is, everyone gets kicked from something sooner or later. And there's not always a very smart reason behind it. At least as a tank, you have the luxury of getting right back in to just about anything you need.

People do dumb things. It's better if you don't try to understand them and carry on, imo.

and jsut to be clear, you cant really tell if some1 boosted their job or not.

It's so hard to actually tell with these things, because the problem could be in either end.
Perhaps your use of CDs was bad which resulted in the healer having to spam heal you to keep you up.
Perhaps you weren't keeping aggro on all enemies.

I have never seen someone get angry over just a new character by itself, so there has to be more to this story.

The 260 gear can be upgraded to 270 gear with items you can purchase with poetics, and you might want to consider glamoring and replacing the Filibuster ring with a triphane ring of fending.

People see the unaugmented, unglamored shire gear, lack of any other job at 60 or 70, the filibuster ring, and it screams boost.

Edit: well, you're level 70 now, so it seems you've likely gotten through the rest of SB content without issue. Congrats?

Rogue can be unlocked with level 1 if you start in Limsa. It's a simple side quest near the main aetheryte whoch brings you to their hideout.

Unless they changed it in 4.0 you need a minimum level of 10 or so in Limsa or 15 in other City-state to unlock the quest for NIN.

Being kicked as a tank is just a joke anyway because you will get an instant queue and they gotta wait 10-20mins.

For this reason tanks get a lot more leeway than healers who get more than DPS, experienced MMO players tend to realise this this but most will not kick at all like myself unless you are doing something beyond noob mistakes such as not learning.
