Thank you Yoshi P and the rest of the team!-Rising 2017

I've just completed this years rising event and I have to say I loved it! not only the lovely little cheap dungeon mini game but the special cut scene we all got afterwards really brought a tear to my eye. I just wanted to make this forum post to say to the whole FFXIV dev team Thank you, not just for the fun event, but also for this incredible game that you all work so hard on every single day! I truly hope this game lives for many many more years to bring us all the happiness we've experienced to far.

I have to say I was barely interested in this after seeing the last 3-5 events, but I'm glad I did this one. Was a lot of fun for me, though I did grow up during the 8-bit era and I have a game out which I've patched 10 times in the past month, this event speaks to me on many levels. :D

There are 18 babillion threads about every topic under the sun complaining about anything but god forbid there be more than one thread thankful for an event somebody liked.

Yes, thanks for the event it was fun :).

I'll add a "Thank You" here, as well. The notes in the dungeon and the cut scene and the end really tugged on my heartstrings. :P
I love this game and hope it continues for a long time (oh, and Yoshi-P, if you see this, PLEASE take care of yourself. >< the game's fine, pls don't overdo it).

I bought 1.0
Played it for a while deleted it and swore that I would never play another SE mmo ever again.

But time passed and I heard good things about 2.0.
So probably with a little bit of ignoring my self perceived better judgement I dived in again, preparing to call myself a fool for doing so.

I would have been the fool for not trying 2.0

FFXIV is, and has been since the moment I started 2.0, my favourite mmorpg. Not only current, but of all the ones I have played over time.
It has formed a part of my relaxation time, and given me memories that will stay with me forever.

So that cutscene really hit home.

Thank you Yoshi P and all the team at SE past and present.

The event brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for FFXIV. I simply adore this game.

I will tell you the difference take it as you will. Thread "Rising event really awesome" some discussion about said event being awesome. I consider that a healthy appreciation of the game. A thread directed to the the creative team like you know them. I feel is not healthy or constructive and shows some unbalance when it comes to your enjoyment of the game. If I am out and meal has been really awesome I leave an appropriate monetary donation. Lucky for us we have a secondary option to actually leave a larger monetary donation. I do not call the kitchen staff out and say how great they are. I have also commented likewise in real life when someone else felt the need to ask for staff to tell them how great they are.

I dont usually do event quests but this one sounds fun , gonna try it

Also thank you for not forgetting the lessons of 1.0 and of other mmos. We should never turn ffxiv into an mmo like all the others where most content is made for the savage raiders. There's 100 million mmos for them already.

The NoClips documentary was incredible and made the Answers cutscene hit even harder, despite never playing 1.0 myself.

The cheap dungeon thing was pretty funny, I enjoyed it. I saw some of the quotes within the maze and it made me imagine the hell that the dev team goes through to make this game as great as it is now.
I salute you Yoshi-P and your team for your determination to try keep us players happy; yeah there are flaws and complaints, but you continue to work really hard to fix those mistakes.

Wow, 4 years!! I hope the game continues thriving and I shall enjoy the adventure as Warrior of Light along the way :)

I COMPLETELY agree!! I watched the NoClips documentaries as well, and they were PHENOMENAL. The part where they showed Yoshi-P giving that speech and he just broke down crying, really clenched my heart. He loves this game, and puts over 100% into it every day. If not for him, I never would have had the chance to play this AMAZING game.

To Yoshi-P and everyone else on the Dev Team, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This Rising event was amazing!! Keep up the great work!!

I saw the NoClips documentaries as well and I got teary eyed several times; I kinda wished I was there when 1.0 was around and about so I can say to others, "I WAS THERE!!", but I didn't know that FF had an MMO during that time. XD
Yoshi-P's the boss!

I posted in the other thread but Ill be happy to do so here too. Anything to further some positivity and good feedback. I liked the event. The cheap dungeon was interesting and fun. Certain parts of the dialogue were maybe a bit cringey, but they were actually appropriate and even appreciated in this circumstance. So I dig it. Here's looking forward to Halloween and beyond.

I felt bad when I saw the messages in the "Cheap" Dungeon

So let me tell you my perspective on The Rising event!

Before the event started, I suspected that the Rising will open up a big secret in regards to the Minstrel. So~ I just expect a big surprise. I was going on a journey with my partner before we end up in Ul'Dah and thought about doing the event. We went for it, and so entered a very uncommon looking portal. The moment I entered this little room, my partner mentioned "IT'S AN ADMIN JAIL!". I was totally amused upon realizing that perhaps the Minstrel is locked in an admin jail XD

Nonetheless, we help him out. People were talking about the cheapest dungeon ever. I was confused at first, but then I realized it's literally named "Cheap Dungeon" and I laughed pretty hard. Nice surprise! Indulging in the said "Cheap Dungeon" we get to hear a chiptune Azys Lla music, saw some... uhh... "Developer's thoughts"? Oh my.

I figured out the password by comparing the order of the 1st floor, and the letters of the 2nd floor, and entered the letters based on the order, and I solved it! ... but that's not even the biggest surprise...

"Phew, that was an interesting minigame. Here, you're free now, Minstrel."
"Wait... you're playing a tune here? Wh-What's going... on..." *snores*
*Wakes up and shakes my head, and finds myself surrounded until...*
"Oh... hey Mins-- wait a minute... Naoki... Yoshida... YOSHIDA!? W-w-wait, he himself personally thanked me? Oh my god... now I get it..."
*shocked, she emotionally cries a tear and sniffles*
"Y-you're welcome... self-insert... developer... minstrel... guy... I will never forget this... I will keep walking in the crystal...!"

*Watches fireworks with the Minstrel*
"This... this is all your doing technically... Yoshida in disguise... Thank you. Your secret's safe with me."

I never saw the Minstrel the same way ever again... :)

It's really nice when the director and the development team go their way to thank the players. It was fun for me seeing those comments in the cheap dungeon being a former developer myself. The dungeon also made me think for a minute, stumped actually on how to resolve it.

May FF14 have more years and success to come.

I also wanted to say thank you for yet another Rising event. It's nice to get a yearly reminder that the devs still care an awful lot, and they show it with every patch for better or worse. They make mistakes like everyone else on the planet, but it's the ongoing support that drives them and that's a very good thing. Here's hoping for another 4 great years.

Just adding my thanks too. This event always brings a tear to my eye. I hope FFXIV continues for many years to come.

That line gets to me every year.

Maybe "My compliments to the chef" is not a saying where you are from. If op hacked Yoshi P's email to thank him it would be over the line but the difference as you stated doesn't exist from my pov.

Also worth noting that the monetary donation, or tip, goes to the servers and not the cooks. We also don't know where cash shop money goes either.

Regardless of what anyone else says I think this event was a wonderful love letter from Yoshi-P and the rest of the development team to us the players. And as they thank us for our contribution to the world of Eorzea, so too can we thank them for their contribution to the game that we all enjoy.

To Yoshi-P and the team:- Thank you so much for giving us hours upon hours of quality entertainment, and hopefully yet more many hundreds of hours to come!

It was really nice! Cheap Dungeon takes me back to the early 90s computer games :)

In my mind, nothing will ever outdo the "secret floor" where the developers gave hints as to what might be coming, and Yoshi-P's room was the boss room. That was so fun!

Each year, the Rising temporarily melts my icy heart and gives me the big feels.
