Why I don't like pvp now =(

As someone who loves to pvp a lot, it saddens me that most of the time it has become either lots of bots of teams or people just afking at the entrance but no one wants to vote-kick out, or they have someone else in the pt that will press no just so you can't =(. I honestly just wish they would remove the exp out of pvp and let it be just about the pvp again and yes i know someone of you will argue that it's the only reason to pvp now or that it helps level your jobs faster so you like it, but for someone that actually wants to win matches and actually enjoy pvp for what it is, it saddens me that it's just become the place people like to exploit to get free exp and screw people over that want to win.

Now for the people that still want exp in it, i propose they give out a bigger chunk of exp, but only if you win or come in second place, the losing team should not get exp at all. That way people at least have to try and participate enough to where they gain a benefit from it.

Love to know what people think about that? =)

But what happens if someone gets into a group with bots or worse slackers? I get where you are comming from, I hate how bots have ruined PvP aswell, but your suggestion will harm innocent players who had the misfortune of being grouped with bots. The best suggestion would be for SE to step up, hire more people to monitor the PvP battlegrounds and when they see someone botting, drop the banhammer on them.

If we need to have exp in PvP (something I'm personally not to happy about either, even though I did level a few classes up with PvP aswell and am glad that I got non-PvP-friends into PvP by promising them exp) they should be tied to a personal effort as in kills, support kills and damage dealt to objectives (if there are objectives that can be damaged) rather than flat out win/lose.
That would encourage people to engage in fighting even if they're in last place.

I say this in every Bot pvp thread, but to me the solution is that you get more experience the more you contributed to the match. I do like having the xp for playing pvp, but the bots are ruining the fun for many.

I'm okay with OP suggestion. Per gc win, not individual contribution.

Other thing is removing penalty if we want to leave (not kicked out).
Also the ability to add new member should be shortened to 5 mins instead of 10 mins.
So we can regroup with others who don't want to slack or bots on another match.

Exp in pvp is a good thing and something that should have been in pvp from day 1. But I'm all for it requiring participation.

Swtor has a medal system that tracks things like time on objectives, damage, kills, healing done, and so on. Adding a similar system that tracks and rewards appropriately is a good idea.

To discourage healing bots though would just have to make sure it doesn't count overheal.

I think that losing teams should get XP still, but in a noticeably lower amount.
It's a shame that people only take part in PvP due to XP. I guess it did liven up the PvP quite a bit. I mean all I was really after for before was PvP vanity gear or PvP gear in general for glamours, but to get the most out of it, I had to win and thus had to pay attention to what I was doing. I ended up liking PvP quite a bit due to that. Not something I play every day, but its good fun to queue into with some friends from time to time.

Personally, I'd say rewards only for 1st, if you're going to have rewards.
Hell, get rid of the concept of 2nd and 3rd place and just have winners and losers.

Or just make matches end way sooner, because fighting impossible battles alongside people who want to hit 2nd place for more XP when you just want achievement credit gets kind of old.

I haven't played SWTOR is while, but this is what I remember: It really did well with PvP in general. We don't even have anything even remotely similar to Huttball. The objectives in SWTOR were also highly clear and often highly contested. FFXIV will need very different types of matches to even compete at that level.

Soo... You see a problem with bad behavior in the game and your solution is to not only punish the offenders, but punish non-offenders as well? The game has a built in system to report problem players: use it so the offenders can be punished and leave non-offenders alone.

i do think the exp should be tied to your contribution to the fight, objetives having more weight than anything else.

I think something needs to be done with PvP as well. Even though it is humorous at times when you actually get grouped with real ppl in frontline and watch as most players of both other factions keep running in like lemmings to a slaughter... >.>

I just dont like the new PvP skillsystem. It feels more like a... Moba.. or something. I played PvP every Day before 4.0. I reached top 100 in S2 and Multiplatinum the following Seasons. Now im barely playing it. I dont even bother with rated anymore.
Pressing 5 Skills as soon as they are Ready over and over again is just not my thing.

The problem is, we HAVE reported cheaters, exploiters, and afkers, and very little has been done. Because of that, they get bold and don't even try to hide it now. Much like RMTs in PvE; you see it, we all see it, but just how much is actually done about it?

If you love pvp a lot, then it's not the best game for it. Especially now when any depth was removed from fights. Especially now when 99% of pops is Shatter, the most PvE map ever. Especially now when bots are rampaging without consequences and nothing will be ever done about it.

Specifically kills / damage dealt just wouldn't work, as classes like Healers and Tanks aren't really there to deal a whole lot of damage and get kills for the most part. (Sure, they can both get the odd kill here and there)..

I think Damage done to players/objectives, damage taken by players, and amount healed (not overhealed) should be the main focus to decide contribution.

General contribution points work perfectly fine. But they have to be for everything.. Not just kills/damage.

exp for pvp is bad and we have lack of skills there is no choice in what we get anymore hell there is no real skill in pvp anymore its time to face it SQ killed Pvp :(

Agreed. Aether DC doesn't have the problem as bad. What I see most of the time is fresh or non-hardcore. Total 5-6 people (all jobs) per gc with over 5 kills/100k damage/300k heals.
They really are clueless rather than slacking, that's why I don't like contribution based anything. Rationing never works out for anyone. If people really slacking, they just do the minimum
then we would have to raise the bar again and again. Except for bots, I don't see that kind of play where they do it on purpose.

What works is taking lead and be chat active, teamwork between leads also make less confusing.
I can't say the same for Feast since it doesn't have notification sound forced on party chat.
Either they need to separate rank/unranked again or have the tiers between Shatter and Feast
revived, like Borderlands and Seal Rock.

True, only kills and damage wouldnt work - but include support kills in there and tanks and healers looking at a fair chance too.
It could make sense to weigh those numbers differently, depending on your class - as in: on dps your kills and damage to objectives matters more for your exp; as tank/heal your support kills matter more.

If they cant be bothered to look some things up and improve themself why should they get the same reward than those people who are putting in their effort? PvP is a competition and in competitions your reward should be based on your contribution. If you dont "get enough", I'd hope it encourages people to get better and improve themself - we dont need to pamper them and tell them how everything is fine adn how they're doing to great, even if they dont.
If they are clueless they wont get the maximum amount for a few matches, until they learn, big deal. It will at least let them know that they need to improve and give them an incentive to.

I'm all for asking for a reasonable amount of contribution to earn the maximum amount of exp from a match - yes, thats right: My ideal system would have a "cap" on exp.
The numbers that need to be reached for that should be achieveable for a non-hardcore-person but also require contribution over the whole match.

Do you people play at really weird hours or something? Every time I do frontlines there is more people complaining about bots than there are people who MIGHT be bots. I think a lot of you underestimate just how bad at the game much of the playerbase is. Also I want to say that punishing the losing teams doesn't affect bots at all because a bot doesn't care if it has to do 10 matches or 1000.

I usually don't like PvP, because I chose immortal flames and they are awful 80% of the time when I play. Yesterday though, we had an amazing comeback win where we charged the maelstrom and their base and stole victory. It was a lot of fun.

Pay a visit to the PvP section of the forums and you'll see that in many different threads, I've stated that since 3.5 and Frontline Freelancer, your GC affiliation doesn't matter even half as much as the people you're playing with, and how well they can work together. I've come back and won matches where the leading team was in the 1580s, but we coordinated and went on the offensive and literally took the points from them. And this was even with a group of randoms.

It's not who you're with, it's what you can all do together.

how would that be punishing non-offenders as well exactly, most the bots would stop trying to pvp if it becomes none guaranteed exp, and for the people that do want it they would just have to try at least 2nd place which would actually make the pvp more interesting when everyone is trying =3

and believe me i've reported people multiple times over and over, some of the same people are still in there doing the same thing and the gm's tell me that they'll investigate it, in yet nothing is ever done.
