Can We Have More Dyes Please?

The dye selection in this game is extremely limited and it feels like we get ONE new color once in a blue moon. We only have 103 colors, which sounds like a lot, but compared to other MMOs, it's down right pathetic.There's so many color variants we don't have like the purple on the DRK AF3 cape, or the vibrant red on the RDM AF3 gear. We could really use some more vibrant shades. So many of the colors we have just seem so washed out. I can't see why new dyes come out so slowly. I can't really see new colors being that much development work, if any at all, and if it IS, something is horribly wrong. Give me some apple reds, hot pinks, some vibrant purples, just more choices in general. Thanks. :)

Although I really think it's time to give us something like this! It would help us a lot to be able to choose in a more exact way the dye that we want (Or add many more dyes to have good options)

Also, make the rare dyes... Not rare?
Or permanently unlockable. (GW2 may have spoiled me a bit on this point, even if the unlocking process itself is now a cash-grab)

And more dye channels. Tired of ending up with white trim or poorly-treated gradients. :-(

Dye channels and vibrant colours would be great. As much as I love some colours, having an entirely green or blue piece is kind of weird, especially on more ornate items.

When you can dye everything metallic pink and look fabulous, why would you need anything else?

I was actually wondering if it would be possible to get some patterns to use as dyes. Stuff like plaid, military camouflage, checkered, polka dots, etc. And then have various different color schemes available similar to how we have color variations of the metallic dyes.

Metallic pastel pink is the one my wife constantly asks for. A lighter 'silver', and a gold that's gold, not brass.

My only dye request is the shade of red that is used on the majority of the existing gear. There are so many pieces that have this bright, vibrant red and no dye to match it. Dalamud Red is slightly too dark.

I am not sure if that's actually the case. In fact, the only real mainstream MMO's I remember that have featured gear dye are Runescape and Rift, both of which don't even have nearly the amount of colour variety as FFXIV does.

That said, I suppose more different kinds of dyes would always be nice. So long as it doesn't get overexcessive.

GW2 dye selection and mechanism (image quality sucks, I know, and I had to actually edit the chain of dyes together since it goes beyond what the window will display, but works for demonstration purposes):

We also really need some more colours in the metallic dye category (black, white, that orange that Rowena was sporting for a while, etc.). Mainly because these can add a bit more shine to certain fabric/material types that would look really dull even when dyed vibrant colours.

I wanted very black. But, "soot black" in-game still look a bit darker gray.
Stupid "Jet Black Dye" only in mogstation. Could be free in-game vendor or craft make it.

Jet black is also a rare drop from "quick" ventures. The tradeable version is "General Purpose Jet-black dye" in the AH as well. Buyable for ingame currency.

Yep. Throwing my hat in the ring on this. Especially more metallic dyes! I love the metallic dyes.

I want a proper magenta pink. It's such a basic colour yet it's somehow absent. Some of us love pink SE!

Their purple selection is pathetic. I love purples, but their choices....are not good....esp when there are pinks thrown in... >.> imposters....

And for the love of all things holy, please stop making undyeable armor that uses custom colors that we don't have available. There are quite a few pieces that are hard to work into glamours because they don't match with what we have available.


Shoot, just bring over GW2s dye system. GW2 really does have a lot of amazing systems in place - wish XIV would borrow a few more of them. :X

I just want the base color of the thav bustier and it's other pieces. It is such a pretty pink. It's also such a pain when you wanna mix match pieces with it, but have to dye the bustier because none of the existing dyes go with it. Please SE, it's such a pretty color ;A;

Only if they are craftable or NPC sold, no more cash shop dyes with 0.00000001% chance to get from quick ventures, this isn't a f2p korean game.

Brought this up a while ago, more specifically for using multiple dyes on one piece of gear. (Such as a primary & secondary colour)..

Apparently the way the dye system is coded currently, they effectively have to add a "model" of each gear with each different dye or something..
So adding new dyes is a real pain in the bollocks.

I think the bigger request would be to overhaul the glamour & dye system to make it more future proof.

I love black dye when it's raining.

I wish we have a dye with same effect without raining.

We don't need more dyes, we need a second dye channel on items.

The wet effect in this game needs some work, I like it, but to be honest I'd like the 'dry' condition to look more like the current 'wet, and for the wet to be more...well....wet.

More dyes would be very much appreciated, more options is always a plus.

Also, can we have straight up black and white dyes not be rare drops or cash shop items?

An Orange orange, primary RYBG, a true red metallic, and a mirror silver are ones I've wanted to see added. A second channel on the dual-colored items is a nice idea as well.

Nothing annoys me more than the fact the devs make gear with colors we cannot dye-match.

They changed the color palettes now and then. I noticed I can't find the same red for hair i had on an pre 3.2 screenshot, and I've thought Coeurl Yellow was meh until sb.
Good games limit/optimizes colors for players so it can reserved some for itself. Other games may not have intended/hardware limitation as strict.
Just saying, changing is okay for them but adding new colors can cause headaches especially when they're selling glamors and dyes at mogstation.

Server limitations is a big one lately, hype train to glam log and fixing inventory are due to server limitations.

Which is the dumbest possible way to implement dyeing gear, I swear to god... I thought SE was supposed to be a bunch of seasoned game devs...

I do feel like we always get excuses as to why we can't have something whenever we ask for new stuff. =\ And it's getting less and less believable as time goes on. They gotta be making money hand over fist on this game, reinvest some of it back into new things for the game, dangit. Or more specifically, actually implement some of the things people have been asking for over and over and over again.

I think the question should be more like: "Can we have more good dyes please?"

We have so many dyes that seems to never look good on any gear. In most cases I'm ending with a rare dye. Outside of this there are just a hand full of colors that fit to some gear.

This seems to be another fault of the 1.X legacy spaghetti code and models.

The new model for the dyed version actually kinda makes sense for a fair amount of the 1.X and 2.0 gear. Much of the wood, leather and metal have noticeable lacquering when dyed that changes the texture of the dyed parts.

I want more vibrant colors :< The pink palette is a joke.
