Only takes getting gold twice for Ixion now. Nice. Alternately 4 silvers.
Sweet 8 hour maintenance for nothing. No hot fixes that actually matter and no new content. But hey we did make a couple of changes to the jobs that nobody asked for or needed. GG/
That's not gonna help Summoner, btw.
seems like they buffed the shit out of drg.
They have no idea what to do with SMN...
How hard is it to at least do something with Psyik and make it sustain?
Exactly my point. You can't speak with any authority on a subject you know nothing about. It's why you've deflected entirely to try to pin this on me. It's not going to work.
"An issue wherein gaining enmity while casting “Return” would cancel the cast but would put the skill on cooldown." Doesn't matter?
"An issue wherein the dark knight job quest, “The Orphans and the Broken Blade” instance battle would not progress under certain conditions." Doesn't matter?
The fact that you can't even address the points I've made means you have no knowledge. And I find that interesting. You complain about an 8 hour maintenance so clearly you have NOTHING ELSE to do in your life. Otherwise those 8 hours would have been spent on other things. So for someone that lives and breathes this game, how do you know so little?
The SS timer buff on bard is most appreciated.
Combo potency reduced from the rear has me spinning, those gotta be typos.
It received no buffs except in the sense that penalties for missing your positionals have been reduced by 10 to 50 potency waste. Its ceiling is absolutely unchanged. It's simply gotten easier to play, so to speak.
Apparently they can't attach the positional bonus only to its comboed state, so they're reducing the bonus and increasing the combo potency. The result is that if the skill is used without combo-ing (originally 100 + bonus), it's now weaker. However, it also depends less upon getting the proper positional to do the same bonus.
They'd have been clearer if they said that, "bonus potency from attacking from the rear has been reduced by 20; this amount has been moved to the potency increase from the combo bonus, which has thereby been increased by 20."

What I don't get is why they'd both leaving Hot Shot at all if it's going to be a minute-long buff...
And now frequent overheating is obligatory, to boot, which is only going to make the slow return to Heated Shots feel more sluggish.
Pretty much what I expected for MCH.
As for the GB recast, is that just the on/off or is it the lockout after Overheat?
See there they still have no idea how to help summoner out. What they did for summoner's is a farce that won't help out much at all. How about they increase those two spells the amount they increased the dragoons skills to make it fair. Why they buff heck out of dragoon again when they patch was suppose to be only for smn and mcn's.
Talk about rubbing salt in the wound seeing those Summoner "changes".
Proof, as if it was needed, that SE are blind to the well-documented problems of the SMN job.
The clunkiness.
The unrivalled punishment of death.
The inability to cure pets.
The uselessness of Titan even in solo play.
More DoT potency isn't nothing, but it may as well be as it doesn't actually deal with the problems the job faces and will continue to face. Meanwhile, SMN mains will continue to get locked out of endgame content and answer by abandoning the job (in favour of RDM of course) or the game.
I just want them to fix the issue with Bahamut not attacking unless he's literally parked behind you... that can't be intentional right...? If it is then yes, Yoshi has no idea what to do with SMN anymore...
I cant speak for everyone, but i dont just want potency buffs and more dmg on drg, i want a better freakin set of rotation that isnt clunky to perform.
main changes i would like. reduce the need for life of the dragon to two eyes. (no dragon in this game has 4 eyes, lol kinda uhh, kinda pointless to mention but its a funny thought) So that you can perform your burst right away and then every minute afterwards, instead of having to wait an entire minute and a half to begin using nastrond, or at the very least, also factor in dragonfire to give an eye. i would accept that even at the cost of potency nerfs if they had to.
Change how dragon sight works (or make it a toggle at least) to mimick how the sch(smn? i forgot) summon works with that one skill, in that it goes on the closest player to the drg. its not as bad for PC players, but no one wants to target a party member mid rotation, especially not when you are already stretching the GCD window by double weaving. most likely a drg will always be using dragon sight on a melee or a tank anyway, which is going to be the closest person to the drg.
That imo would fix drg, as of right now its not a fun class to play, at least to me
I am under the impression they just don't care about the job anymore and hate the hell out of it to be honest.
So much so, the best way to fix Summoner to them is pretty much do nothing and hope everyone runs RDM/BLM and forget about it.
Every patch they get buffed on it's so minuscule it's not worth the talk, other than
disappointment. After countless of feedback/suggestions I guess this was as much as they got out of it.
Teh mind boggles...I suppose in 4.1...I thought Savage content would help them figure things out.
A 50 potency buff to our 4th tier combos is a pretty significant damage increase missed-positionals aside, which you shouldn't be missing your positionals on them period since they are no longer random procs. Granted none of these changes are the ones dragoons needed, still no adjustments to how long it takes us to build up eyes in LOTD, which is the real issue.
Machinist main here: I think there's some good, but I'm on the fence right now.
Since SB came out, there's been a lot of debate on whether it was intended to stay between 50-95 Heat or if we were supported to line Wildfire up with Overheated. I think the changes make it clear what's intended, and makes it more worth it to try and pull off (20% damage over 10% damage) and less punishing to get wrong (2 second recast on GB vs 10 seconds).
Increased heat generation from Flamethrower also makes it easier to Overheat, though I would have preferred 4.0's heat generation (10 from heated shots, -10 from QR, more frequent Cooldown use)
Increased HS duration means we only refresh it once a minute- Small DPS increase, since it's our weakest weaponskill.
Lowered CD on Dismantle is also nice, but the timing on it is still really tight- It only lasts for 5 seconds, which makes it not as effective as it should be in some instances. (Susano EX- Every Ukehi after the first goes off 3 times, but you can only really mitigate 2/3 hits with Dismantle.) A duration of 10 seconds would be very helpful.
These changes aren't bad, there's a lot of convenience here, and Overheating being worth it now returns some fun/challenge to the job, especially after a lot of people (myself included) felt like 4.05 made it way too easy with how slowly Heat was generated. But...
Bard still has bigger, better utility, and I'm not totally convinced yet that these changes will be enough to give Machinist an edge over them when it comes to DPS. I don't think this is enough to deal with the stigma MCH faces in groups right now, but I'd need to play it for a bit before I can speculate on what other changes it needs going forward. (My guess for now: Probably some potency buffs, and/or raising Hot Shot from +8% Damage to +10%)
They kinda do. In the past they said something about regretting adding Summoner because people demand so much from it. Now that the demands are actually about gameplay and are justified, they really shouldn't turn a blind eye from it.
But I'm patient so I hope they actually make MAJOR changes in 4.1.
Man if I were at SE reading this thread it would just frustrate me.
These...are...band aid...fixes. These were never going to be huge overhauls. They said bigger changes would be coming in 4.1 repeatedly, but people simply don't pay attention and want to bitch and moan. I get that some jobs, like SMN, are frustrated but these fixes were never intended to be the be all end all for your job. Your day in the sun will come. Relax.
*laughs at the Bard quality of life changes*
Bard now indisputably has the best all around package in terms of how skill mechanics flow. Considering how drastic (and overall well-received) the jump from HW to SB Bard was, I almost wonder if the Bard overhaul was a personal pet project of someone on the dev team, while everyone else is working on multiple jobs at once. Because the careful attention Bard has been getting is pretty unreal.
Can't blame people getting even more frustrated over these band aid fixes which mind you could have been done during their other band aid patch. Which also 90% of the time ignore feedback from the community that is even crunching the numbers for them. Even I am a little upset seeing the 10% to 20% revert that imo should have been tried out first before doing all this other stuff to the heat mechanic.
Does it matter? The fixes won't do a damn thing. Bard still has far superior utility and pulls higher damage. Nothing changed except Ninja does even more damage, which is laughable. And for some reason, they are hell bent on keeping Life of the Dragoon slow but piled up Dragoon's base damage instead. Summoner? What they did is a bloody joke.
They could of done a lot more than 10 potency increase in 2 skills.
Js. These "bandaids" are a joke.
Hope I never have you in my party. You're the biggest race here but you don't see us not inviting you for blocking views.
Pointless and rude comment.
That's kind of ignorant of you... It's not like it's the players fault for this you shouldn't blame them and exclude them just because they like/want to play SMN.
Blame Yoshi but also don't be a jackweeb to your fellow community whom just so happen to like SMN...
I can see why the change was needed so that they could speed up decreasing the amount of people in the loches, but I dont agree with it. Its basically made it a lot easier for people to get where as those who gained it pre nerf have kind of been shat on by making it more easily obtainable, I know it was in the first place but only by those who had more patience than others and in all honesty farming 6 of them at 2 horns per gold rank wasnt bad at all. The issue with that stemmed from the hoards who flooded the map to get on the kill which caused disconnects and those who refused to put their choco's away, so players lost out due to this.
Of course it does. You're able to speak with knowledge, experience and facts if you've actually played the class. You can further instruct Square on the issues of the class. It's how fixes come around.
I don't play Summoner anymore. I haven't since Heavensward. That means if I was to give ANY Summoner advice, I wouldn't know what's lacking, what's strong, what's missing. Now I've read a few of the threads about the class and a few replies. Hell, even in this thread, it appears that the issues weren't addressed at all by Square. So I'd be more prone to take their knowledge and experiences over my own.
I know ya'll regret adding Summoner, but what you're doing to the job now is just...
Insert Joanne the Scammer holding up the petty sign.
It's still fun for me.. just a little bit more stressful than it has to be. I think the only fix we really need is permanent eyes. If I didn't have to OMFGHURRYUPANDPULL a whole dungeon I'd be fine with my rotation. I also agree DS needs a little tweak to how it's targeted. We've never had a selecttarget-cast before so it's a little wonky in my rotation. I've been told to make a macro for it and i will soon, but I don't think they thought it through very well.
BUT.. as has been said, major changes come later, for now we got a little buff and I'm happy.
I get you spent extra time getting yours and hey.. now it's easier. But it doesn't make YOURS any less special. You had it while the crazyness was going on.. now more people do. I don't see the problem.
I was hoping White Mage would get some changes to Plenary Indulgence in this little patch.
