Omega 1.0 savage - Great intro difficulty

I think the difficulty of Omega 1.0 Savage is perfectly fine. Was in my first group today, we wiped about 15 times total and still did not finish the boss. However in one night we learned a lot, had fun, and got the boss down to 20% before he enraged (people died a ton so our dps suffered).

I'm sure the later bosses in the raid will be harder, and they should be. but having tried 1.0 so far I think its fine where it is as the intro fight.

I agree, V1.0 Savage seems to be a really good introduction point for new players to get started with Savage content. It's quite a bit easier than the Savage modes that you commonly see, but it's still tricky enough to pose some challenge and it's a nice hurdle to overcome for new players who want to get into Savage content.

It's really just an introductory point, though. V2.0 is quite a bit harder than V1.0, and after that you get to face the true Savage difficulty in V3.0 and V4.0.

We too had random players in party finder, in 3 pulls we saw enrage then it was all about brining more dps and not have people fall off the arena

Yeah people dying was probably the cause of enrage, DPS died a lot.

I bet they won't delete this topic, unlike the (at least) two earlier ones voicing opposite opinions. :)

I'm currently on OS3 with my group (we've had 2 raid events so far) and I'm really enjoying it, but I don't think OS1 and OS2 have anything to do with Savage.

Its perfect, but O2S and upwards are far too difficult. I wiped several times in the duty finder, so they should be nerfed considerably. Also, i think we need to talk about getting at least the tokens for attendance even when you dont kill it, because casuals are in dire need of better items to do their content, otherwise dungeons are far too difficult ....

I think the devs want to bring savage down in terms of difficulty to make a smoother difficulty curve from 4 man dungeons, 24 man raids, ex trials and then savage raids, and later introduce the super hard fight to fill in the spot that used to be filled by savage raids like a4s/a8s. As much as I enjoyed midas savage difficulty level, I think this is a much better content design compared to having a very big gap between ex trials and savage raids like we used to have. Something should fill that gap, either by bringing the savage raids closer to ex trials and introducing harder fights, or to introduce fights that are harder than ex trials but easier than savage raids.

Tbh if the new super savage fight is decently hard it'd be fine, since it's released in odd patches, it can be tuned to require near max ilv gear (i340) to clear.

That's the sad truth and reality of the game, not only since the last expansion, but it doesn't make it better because now everybody thinks they should get free items, just for logging in that day

I used to be a raider, older now, have different priorities in life now. Still love playing games though just can't be online as consistently as many years ago. Personally this format for me is better. Being able to farm the ex primals and o1s and o2s in duty finder/ party finder I find it great. Now thinking of my younger self, that really enjoyed the hard content, using something like teamspeak and being weeks working on a Boss with the same group, I don't know if I would like it. It all depends how hard/rewarding o3s and o4s plus this super savage would be.
But for me now as a more casual player although still like a bit some "harder" content this format is great.

For those who think O1s is easy, I ask them to try it without a static. because without a static it's definitely anything but easy, unless maybe you get ridiculously lucky.

There were posts on first day about people with no previous raid experience queueing in raid finder and clearing OS1 within the first lockout. My FC has also people who have cleared OS1-OS3 outside statics in party finder / raid finder. OS1 and OS2 are around same difficulty than current "extremes" and are completely beatable and farmable in DF if people know the basics of their jobs.

O1S is probably easier than both the Ex primals, considering it's literally normal mode with one or two new mechanics.

If they're going to introduce people to raiding, they should at least make the content a little harder than what was already available. Honestly it's a joke when PF parties, midcore groups and newbies are clearing a savage turn in one lockout. I could almost see 02S as being a good starter for new raiders, but O1S is pathetic.

Go watch MrHappy's stream. He has pugged V1-3 four out of five weeks without much of a hitch. Friend of mine has pugged V1 every single week and gotten all her drops for BLM already. I pugged it once week two and we cleared just over an hour later.

I haven't had a static for a while, but I've been able to consistently pug 01-03S. Going to try pugging 04S this week since it should be easier with most people having i330 or i340 weapons. 01S struggled somewhat on week 2, but afterwards? Never had an easier time clearing it. If you're asking to have it cleared within the raid timer with no consistent members? Depends on who you get as always, but it's been done consistently at this point. They die, they clean up what they do and it gets cleared.

Not to brag or to berate your statement, cause it's not wrong, it is harder in a pub, but I did my first few runs with a public group, 7 runs total, only took 3 to get it on farm. It's truly not hard, nor is it easy, it's a nice entry.

I must have awful luck with PUGs then becuase none of my pugs or PF groups could clear it till I did it with a static group.

Anyway I want to clarify what I mean by my OP, I think that O1 and O2 savage are great as an INTRO difficulty.

I'm up to O3 Savage now and well, that's definitely savage lol. But remember that O1 and O2 are the first 2 fights in what will eventually be a series of 12.

You shouldn't be able to clear savage with 3-4 deaths. No, it's not a good difficulty at all.

Before you get unnecessarily flamed, the REASON that it isn't a good difficulty is because easy raid content = raid content with a short life span, this stuff needs to last until 4.2

Not in O1S or O2S. Those intro turns are a joke for "savage" content. 3 isn't exactly hard but it has earned the name of savage for how it keeps you on your toes. i'm currently trying to find a group that can beat the enrage... tired of wiping at low 5-1 percent. I have no experience with 4 yet but i'm sure the people saying that it is easy are playing with top level statics and thus they get no say in this.

Do you not get it? You are saying O1S is a good starting difficulty.... yet all O1S really has is normal mode where you can fall off. Coordinating levinbolts is a joke... I 3 shot it in a PUG or something. Please, let's not have a savage turn down 20 mins after maintenance.

It may not be easy for the most of players, that's ok but saying "ridiculously lucky" is exaggerated.

At least in my world, people pugging O1-2S(even3) "get rid PT" everyweek. (get rid PT is party for fast clearing the said content so you can work on O3S or O4S for the rest of the week.)

If this were WoW, I would agree. Unfortunately, we are given only four fights per tier. With two of them bordering on faceroll levels, that reduces Savage to two meaningful challenges; three if you include Exfaust as a separate fight. That simply isn't good enough for the very reason Lambdafish said. This is intended to be content that lasts, not something we stream roll through. My group is already treating V1-3 like fodder fights we don't really care about. Now if V5 ends up noticeably harder, perhaps I'll feel differently then but I suspect the next tier won't be much different than Omega.

Why is Living Liquid always the de facto example? It's a false equivalent that needs to die. No one here has mentioned scaling Savage to Gordias levels, especially not the first two fights. We simply want something that isn't dead within an hour. Looking at FFlogs, my group had thirteen deaths on the second clear. How is the supposedly highest tier of content still clearable with a shitshow like that? I'll admit, we laughed it off and had fun, but no fight should be that recoverable.

It's only casual Content.

O3s would be ok for the first the fight.

Which part of "Great Intro Difficulty" was hard to get? No, not everyone is hard core raider. Majority are even scared to try it. Having easy two fights gives those who braved up enough to try a taste of it. Enough to encourage and motivate them and maybe push them to get better and better. You don't encourage sprouts by throwing them at Titan Ex on their first trial, you encourage them by patting them on the back for passing Ifrit. With enough motivation and encouragement more people would try harder, attempt more, get better and 3OS and 4OS would be the next challenge they will want to beat. Maybe some of them will be in your static or a PUG run for future savage content. This fixation on - it's easy for me therefore it has to be tuned, needs to die out.

I cleared v3s same week it came out with 6 deaths, you could sell v1s first week it came out. So I don't know what you mean by this. Unless the dps is very horrible and in fact my friend beat v4s in party finder too lol.

Actually O4S is pretty easy. It's the 'entry' fight in O4S which can be a real pain, due to the randomness of some of it's mechanics. Otherwise, once you get to Neo, it's pretty much 'dance dance revolution' as you dance your way to victory.
