not a bad deal at all for a year old mmo, not a bad deal at all
curious how many bites itl get
I want it on Steam
I want it on AppStore
http://www.direct2drive.com/6/11753/...nline-Download Found here as well but not at the discounted price.
I would tell my friends buy it, make a char and wait for 2.0
They should have waited for 2.0 to do this, but it is still nice to see that they did it.
For the price it's not a bad deal at all, plus it gives people who wanted to check it out before 2.0 a better chance to play :)
If we already have an active account, can we download it without buying it aagain?
ehh.. only for NA, no sign of EU <_<.
They realized there's only like 200 people, including afks on servers and felt the need to get some more boxes shipped asap. :( They're going to end up with like 2 total servers at this rate if they go for their 1500-2000 goal!
I think now is a really bad time, both for a promotion like this and for a sub fee. If they waited a month they could catch SWTOR's free month winding down and perhaps pick up some people that got bored of that.
Us only, so typical!
Please finish the basic game before you start selling it SE.
I bought this a few days ago, since i went back home for winter vacation to the uUS and left my laptop and ffxiv CD (epic fail) in europe. I got a brother so its no big deal for me buying a second acct and DLing it from home pc gamer comp and DLing it to multiple comps to run multi accts... Anyway, i Spent 20+ hours DLing this directly from website rather than through Steam and on both old gamer rigs i get a problem when i double click the FFXIV shortcut. This is post Installation mind you. On one pc i get the ffxiv APPCRASH error boot.exe i think. And the other pc has a somewhat diff error.
I have no idea if our old gamer pcs are out of date and that the problem may or may not be graphics card, driver, directx, or windows update related. As far as im concerned they should be able to run the damn game, used them for FFXI and WoW back in the day... Anyway if only i could get these pc downloads to work the next week of vacation could be much more exciting...
Let me know if anyone gets this to work, or gets error too..
You may want to revise your projections, for if the ffxivpro ls achievement chart is accurate, and if you take a look at the achievement Server and Overall Rank of a mule/secondary char you will see perhaps a real indication of total and server player numbers.
For Ex:
Money Baggs on Lindblum in the ls Lalapalooza has 51 Achievement points which puts this mule at number 21,002 on lindblum server; and number 313,348 Overall (all servers combined).
Whereas on Rabanastre, for ex, (Ikkaku Madaram of Wings of Eorzea LS) this mule has 50 achievement points zhich puts it at rank number 18,471 on Rabanstre Server; and rank number 315,429 overall.
So if these numbers are exact, we can assume there are about 315,000 Player Characters on all 18 servers combined, which comes out to 17,500 characters per server, which is what our above mentioned server counts seem to indicate.
Certainly there will be some servers more populated than others, different time zones, and mules to factor in. Lets say that 50% of the player base has more than one toon per acct or more than one acct on the same server. So 5K players on server X only have one toon + 5k who have 2 or 3 toons on same acct/server for muling or dual boxing purposes = 15,000+ characters per server controlled by an avg player base of 10,000 humans per server.
So there could easily be 180,000 Human Players spread out through 18 Servers, controlling a total of 315,000 Characters/Toons/Alts.
Now if we consider the time zones we can break the player base down into 3, 4, or more peak hours. 6 to 8 Hour windows for america, another 6-8 for europe, and japan. That means those 10,000 human players per server (europeans, americans, and asians) are playing at diff times in general which averages out to 3000 humans per 8 hour peak time zone.
Is this making any sense?
Maybe they're pushing the "You can experience the ongoing 7th Umbral Era"' thing for those who decide to buy it now through 2.0...but hey if I ever lose my disc...
My numbers are based on using the new player search tool and adding up all of the characters 1-50 of any class at any given time. As far as I know there is no way to go invisible in XIV. I've checked several days, random times between noon CST and about 4 AM CST and there has been no more than ~330 people on at any given time on Rabanastre. I've seen it close to 200, but generally it hovers right around ~300 at all times.
I would not trust ffxivpro as an accurate indication of who's actively playing right now, no.
How I get product code when buy from SE store?
I just bought and nothing send to my email.
Maybe it's on the site somewhere? Or maybe they gave you a link to it on the email?
I doubt they actually put the key in plain text and sent it to you by email, since it isn't secure that way.
Anyhow, I wish they would allowed it for anyone who've purchased the game previously to download it again. It'll help players keep up to date to the newest version of the game without downloading huge patches every time they reinstall the game.
Just yesterday, I reinstalled FFXIV and full patching took over 2 hours. The D/L rates it was about 40kb/s every time I've glanced at it.
