So my fiancee and I had purchased the collector's edition of 1.0 way back in the day (also played in beta), but we had stopped playing before ARR came around. We later returned to give the game another shot.
We had heard about the meteor marks (the tattoos) and we had thought those were given to accounts that had remained active before the start of ARR.
Recently, we learned that this mark is on any character created PRIOR to ARR, and both she and I had characters on a Japanese server that have these tattoos.
Had we known the truth, we would've gladly paid to transfer these characters to a NA server, but we didn't and we rolled and leveled fresh characters instead.
Has anyone else had this problem and have they tried speaking to a GM about transferring the meteor mark and deleting the old character that had it?
There's SOOO much progress on this character that I couldn't fathom restarting him now, even to get the meteor mark which he WOULD have had had we known how to get it.

Unfortunately, the legacy tattoo is linked to the character that has it. There is no way a GM can transfer the mark for you. You will either have to use the old legacy character or hope SE adds a similar tattoo to the game or cash shop.

I don't think you can get the tattoo transferred unfortunately.
It is like this due to lore because basically if your character was in 1.0 it was marked by the calamity. So any characters made in 2.0+ technically didn't go through the calamity and therefore no tattoo.
It would be nice I guess if you had a legacy status account and at least one character with the tattoo that your other newer made characters could also have the tattoo...I mean you could try requesting that SE do that I guess, but besides that like I said above I think it is due to lore so they may not want to do that.
In the end...you barely ever see that tattoo. My main has it, but I rarely ever see it due to gear covering it. So I would suggest just not worrying about it since it isn't something you'll see much even if you had it. -

Yeah, that's what I expected but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Again, had we but KNOWN that our old characters were still there, we'd definitely have paid to transfer them off of the Japanese cluster... -

What wasn't moved, retainers. Not that I think mine had anything of value on it.
I doubt SE could do anything at this point because while the tattoo is simply a cosmetic flag, it's covered up by nearly all gear that isn't a bathing suit, thus there is likely an entire multi texture layer reserved for just the tattoo. If SE ever gives options for body-paint/tattoos, you might see the tattoo disappear if something replaces it. -

Exact same thing happened to my brother. GM said too bad. Also I'm pretty sure when ARR first released you could not transfer from a legacy server to a normal server anyway.

A legacy tattoo only on a character that was made in 1.0 even if you make new characters now on a legacy account they won't have it.
Its a brand that you got when Louisoix teleported you forward in time at the time of the calamity and thus anyone that wasn't there in 1.0 can't get one now. -

If anything they encouraged legacy players to move to newer servers and didn't allow new players to make characters on legacy servers.Quote:

I had the very same problem but in all honesty it was my own fault for not checking my mails and starting on a new character because I wanted a fresh start. So all my new characters do not have the legacy mark and I deletet my legacy chars after some time because I did not plan to play them anyway. Today I regret doing so but oh well. My actions, my fault. I can not blame SE for it. To cheer you up I can only tell you that you are not missing out on much. Having a tattoo you can barely see is not something I am very attached to. Learn out of yor mistakes as myself and keep an eye on your accounts be it game accounts or other things. :)
@ legacy topic: The legacy chocobo is account wide as far as I know but the tattoo is not since it is linked to the calamity. To get legacy status, the chocobo and the sub discount for ARR you had to sub for a certain time before the servers of 1.0 shut down. Sadly I quit after few month after the 1.0 launch and did not qualify for legacy either. ;_; Again... my fault. -

Legacy characters could only transfer to Legacy worlds at the beginning (for example my world from 1.0 was Ridill and it became a Japanese legacy server and I am NA so, like all legacy players, I was given one free transfer to another world, but my choices were ONLY other legacy servers at that time. New worlds were forbidden to me unless I started a fresh character on them.)
SE didn't want legacy characters on new servers due to server economy issues since legacy characters got to keep a portion of their gil from 1.0 which depending on the character could be in the millions of gil. Also having all or simply multiple jobs/crafts at 50 would make the legacy characters have a monopoly on the market board until the new players caught up.
The new servers were fresh start servers that new players could start on in order to have the experience of everyone starting fresh and not having maxed out level 50 legacy players with a lot of gil and resources running around. -

In 1.xx I had to stop for financial reasons, and wasn't able to come back until ARR had started - I wasn't able to be there when the world blew up and thought my 1.0 character was lost. When I found out it was still there, just on a Japanese Server I "rescued" her and am using her as an alt. Her highest job is 30 or so, and my Main is in the 60s. I couldn't give up all the stuff I'd done on my main (Yokai Watch/glowey car, I'm looking at you >< ) but it is fun to tool around on her when I'm in the mood for more low-key stuff.

08-01-2017, 03:34 PMEnkidohActually, 1.0 retainers were in fact moved with your 1.0 character into ARR, in fact, after transferring their 1.0 character into ARR, a 1.0 player could immediately rehire their 1.0 retainer from the Retainer Vocate as soon as they started ARR (and didn't have to play through the story to get Minfilia to unlock them) - you had to create a new appearance for them though. But you could keep their old name and they had everything you stored on them intact.Quote:

I also played during 1.0 but during beta I fantased or however you spell it the character and therefore ended up some how losing my tatoo. I wonder if in that case how you would get it back.

Adding to the above, the tattoo is not affected by the Fantasia and didn't come out until 2.0 itself (you couldn't Fantasia in any of the betas, only delete/create a new character and maybe you did that?). Most 1.0 players also didn't have to use a Fantasia to change their appearance, first time you logged in you had the option. Although I say most, it didn't work for everyone so they later sent a Fantasia to all 1.0 characters for free to fix those that didn't.Quote:
