*spoilers?* Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks urianger(sp?) is evil.

So obviously there's the whole thing with the ascions (sp?) but that aside, urianger just bugs me... Like, I'm now about to do the first lvl 70 story quest, and just.... All this time up to now he's always bugged me.
Showing up randomly, strange plans, he is just always around weird and I wouldn't be surprised if when was actually evil.


Does anyone else get this feeling or am I just over thinking it?

I forget his name maybe elidabise(total butchery) post credit scene it's prolly it urianger. Towards the end when he shows up with the crystal to help you fight fordola and he tells later how he figured out that she had an echo like trait...i call BS. He knows because he was there too watching playing the roll of a double agent. Or maybe it's just Totaru behind the mask, all thoughrout history behind every major catastrophe was a lala.

He has zero motivations to be evil, and every motivation to be good. He also knows the consequences of facing off against the warrior of light.

He'd never betray us, so long as he remains in his own right mind.

During the msq there was a part where this was hinted greatly and then we found out he was being a "double agent". But this is the thing with double agents only at the end we truly find out their true motivations. What I believe atm is that although I think he is not necessary "evil" there might be a twist on his true motivations further down in the story.

Based on what we know too much darkness you get the Void, too much light it's a barren wasteland purged of all life. It's possible he playing both sides to maintain/setup a balance.

I don't think he's evil and I think it would be dumb if they made him so anytime soon as a plot twist.

Why? Because this was done already.
They feigned his feigned betrayal in the Warrior of Darkness arc in HW (plot twist started at the end of ARR).
Turned out he was really on our side still.

They pulled a bait and switch with Urianger already only to go "Oh, he's actually really evil this time!"
Even if that turned out to be true, it wouldn't have a good story impact anymore.

He's just cryptic, speaks in riddles and keeps a bit to himself.
But that's more of a trope he plays off of and why they already did the betrayal feign to show he can play the anti-hero (misunderstood).
After that, his role is pretty cemented most likely. At least for a while.

Urianger is strange in many ways anyway. Why did he get a new (and waaaaay better) Outfit for that double-Agent Part just to switch back to his lvl15 beggar outfit afterwards? Doesn't make sense. Is he famous in Japan or why does SE not touch him? Up until now every other scion got massive look-changes, Lyse even three times now. But Urianger still the same.

That said, I never saw Urianger as a real scion. He is more like a Ingenieur you visit before departing for a journey.

I think this would be elidibus. But I would not be surprised if Urianger was assisting him to some degree.

You are not the only one, I've been wondering about this for a while.

100% I'm just waiting for everyone else to find out.

Our running theory is elidibus has possessed gaius. He only showed up after we defeated (and thus weakened for possession) gaius. When he was talking to the emperor in the SB post credit scene and he took off his mask, the emperor said "how dare you". Why would he say this if it was urianger? More likely it was gaius, a garlean and the emperor's favoured to be his successor.

We've also seen urianger talking to elidibus before so they're definitely not one and the same, and pretty sure that was part of the warrior of darkness thing where he pretended to be on their side. I'm fairly sure urianger is a good guy.

It's presumably going to turn out that he's possessing the dead body of Gaius, Regula, or Nael(the real Nael, not Eula), the question is which.

He's probably turning evil because he's bitter the other scions always leave him behind, alone somewhere. Like how much time did he have to spend alone at Waking Sands after everyone else had moved to Revenant's Toll? And since then he's always the one being left out from everything.

It is obvious from the beginning of their coversation that the emperor wanted nothing to do with him or what he had to say. As soon as he revealed whose body he had the emperor was even more unhappy with him. I get the feeling down the line the WoL and the empire are going to be working together the more I see scenes like that one with the emperor.

He can't be slated to turn evil at any point because he's the pickup point for a large number of optional lv50 quests such as coil and a number of ex primals. So, he always has to be able to be found in the basement of the Waking Sands.

He doesn't give off an evil vibe. He's a bit socially awkward and likes books more than people, but ultimately he cares about the Scions and especially the twins. Someone being a little odd doesn't make them evil.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Acians pose an existential threat to Eorzea. The Garleans, and their emperor should be smart enough to see that we are stronger standing together. So, yeah, I suspect that the WoL, Scions and Alliance will end up working with the Empire to defend against and defeat the Ascians.

As others have said, we've already had a "Is Urianger betraying the Scions!?" plotline once, and it resulted in him both reaffirming his loyalty the scions and his devotion to helping those in need. Him turning out to be "evil all along" would be silly, since they already had the perfect opportunity to make that plot twist. Simply put, it would be poor storytelling to introduce it now.

It did, however, prove he's willing to be deceptive and a tad ruthless in achieving his goals. We could come into conflict with him at some point over how to handle an issue, but in the end Urianger is firmly on the side of good, at least until we have anything proving otherwise.

As for his cryptic, flowery speech, it's literally because he's a nerd who loves old literature far too much. They point out in the lorebook how people made fun of him for it.

Wasn't he sorta evil on 1.0? I kinda very vaguely remember him being something different back then, but I could be wrong, it was ages ago & all.

Would it not be impossible for ascians to possess garleans? Garleans have 0 affinity with eather to the point they can not even cast the simplest of magics so would this not be kinda of a impediment for an ascian to possess a garlean?

On the other hand, since they hid his face from us then it must someone we saw before, it would make no sense to hide the face of a character we have never seen before, and Varis seems to knows him as well so it must be someone that both we and Varis have met before. The more likely is that it would be some legatus that is supposed to be dead, but as I said before the Garleans lack of affinity with aether 'should' ben an impediment.

So who did both we and Varis met before but is no legatus? I think the only one that we are sure Varis knows is Alphinaud? But it is extremely unlikely to be Alphinaud.
