Ideas of MCH

Post some of your ideas too~ this is to help MCH to be fun~
Here are some ideas that i think would be good:

1) Change Gauss Barrel to Trait instead of a skill. It make more sense to be a passive skill than a active skill. Automatic ON back Gauss Barrel after 10sec of overheated.

2) Remove Flamethrower skill. New skill use only when Gauss Barrel is overheating. Example a range machine gun or rocket laucher channeling for 4 - 5sec would be cool. We are physical RANGE dps after all we don't need melee range skill.

3) Cooldown and Barrel Stabilizer skill should be able to use when Gauss Barrel is overheating where we can "cooldown" and "stabilize" it. Heat gauge change to 75 and 50 respectively when the skills is used.

4) Give us a new AOE skill use only when Gauss Barrel is overheating since we make Gauss Barrel a Trait skill we got a slot skill spare.

5) Provide some utility Debuff skill on some skills since bard is a buffer we should be a debuffer. Example like Overdrive should give some debuff on the enemy for the period of our turret downtime, increases target's damage taken by 1 - 2% through out the whole duration of turret downtime (30sec) since bard have a 2% buff all along~ (Overdrive recast change to 60 sec)

6) After using Overdrive, don't destroy the turret make it disable (stop shooting) for 30sec and back online when the downtime is finish. It is not fun keep on looking at the downtime since it only slight over the breakeven on damage, if u put about 3.75 sec late would be dps lost.

What are your thoughts? Share some of your ideas below~
If you like the idea give some likes (thumb up)~

1) Get rid of Rapid Fire (its sound effect is annoying) and give us back Grenado Shot. It makes more sense for our aoe to be ranged.

2) There shouldn't be a wait time after turning off Gauss Barrel before being able to turn it on again. There's no reason to turn it off manually so there should be no punishment for accidentally clicking it off.

I mean, there's no reason to have Gauss Barrel off, so just make it automatic, we reach "X" lv and it just upgrades our gun, GG!

Something else I'd like to see is to glamour our turrets and lunchbox and skillwise, make every skill that we have, be accounted on WF !
There are many more things I could imagine but those two are like CRITICAL for me >_< specially the glamour part.

I realize your desire for those abilities is mainly for nostalgia. Gas fumes is cool (dot?). Chainsaw just doesn't seem right in a game like this (seems too brutal?). Crossbow seems very redundant when we have a gun (Don't quite remember if Edgar had a gun).

Yeah, auto-crossbow feels "less" than a gun, unless it used some kind of magic bolt or something.

Anyways, yeah, for nostalgia, as I've realized XIV is basically a huge nostalgic collection of references from all other FF's, I don't see why not, lol.

Yeah! When it comes to MCH all that sounds to me is someone that, along gunslinging skills, is able to use all sorts of devices and extra contraptions. I'd love to see the flamethrower having a separate model, instead of spraying out of your regular gun.

These are my personal suggestions for MCH:

1. The Heat Gauge should be a permanent fixture, it just resets to 0 after Overheat + 10s lockout.
2. Gauss Barrel should be changed to an oGCD ability that automatically forces an Overheat.
3. Overheat should do more damage. I won't claim to know how much more, but it should definitely be more than a 10% increase.
4. Cooldown should apply a Burning DoT (you are expelling heat, after all) that does a minimal amount of damage. Not much, but just something instead of nothing.
5. Flamethrower should also apply the same Burning DoT (for the purpose of giving us better multi-target/AoE capability). In addition, make the ability much shorter and increase heat faster. I feel like it should function more like an AoE opener as opposed to...whatever it is used for right now.
6. Wildfire should last just a little longer or do a higher percentage of damage dealt.
7. Bring back the old heat generation values, and give Quick Reload back its heat reduction mechanic.
8. Dismantle needs a shorter cooldown, or should last longer (or both).
9. The Hypercharge vulnerability debuff should be removed from the ability and added as a function of the turret itself, maybe reduce it to 2% to mirror BRD's crit buff? (this is debatable, but it would bring MCH support in line with BRD somewhat)
10. Give MCH a battle res. Like, "aetheric defibrillators" or something...

I know some of these ideas may be far-fetched, but it's just what I think would make the class better and more fun to play.

Do you think we should have like a negative status just disappearing after the 10 sec without animation? What I like with the suggestion is we could maybe get rid of the ugly gauss barrel (and /gbarrel only remove it on your screen, so...)

2. (instant overheat with oGCD)In a way it's nice but in another, Machinist community is saying the Heat management is way too easy, so if we can even just overheat when we want (and so the 50/95 heat would be pointless except to provide free Cooldowns) it would be really too easy.

3. 20 or 25% are fine and I believe is what people expect from one minute CD (or even more according to how the fight goes). The result would be like 400potency for the overheat mode at 20% and 500 and 25% (I have to find my calculation sheet again...)

4. (Cooldown DoT) The purpose of DoTs on Machinists is to have the choice between multi targeting skill/monotarget ones/DoTs, ones. And the thing is Cooldown is designed to be used rarely only as a heating tool management. If using DoTs on several ennemies would be a mean of "let's go to 0 heat to burne them all" I believe it will be disappointing (except if we make the burn completely OP of course). Or it would be like just a burn in the 50+ heat mode? but so it would be just a DoT for a single target (unless you're under Overheat, where you have something else to do than using once your burn on every enemies to go back to 0 Heat without Gauss Barrel for 10sec. Or yea, the burn should have to be OP to be worth (so OP in just monotarget not making you overheat for it)).

5. (Flamethrower DoT) So we would be like a SMN DoTing easily a whole group of enemies, why not, but Im afraid they would think it's too powerful to do dmg + DoTs on all enemies so easily. And I believe it's used as a multi target opener, but not only. (No point to be only a multi target opener in solo target fights x) )

6. (Longer or more powerful Wildfire) +0.5sec for Wilfire would be enough for get easily 6 GCD in it. But I believe they don't want us to be able to use a 6th GCD without getting some skill speed for it. But maybe that would be a nice way to make it better. Let's see already how is it with the other ones before buffing this one.

7. (old heat system, QR removing Heat) I liked the old +10Heat system, but I really disliked the heat removed by Quick Reload. I didn't study the rotations before the new system. But the Quick reload -10heat was annoying. And more heat = more Cooldown.

8. (Reassemble shorter CD) I just wish Reassemble would proc Crit + Direct Hit, this 60CD skill was supposed to be a "your next hit will do max dmg without RNG". Which is not the case anymore :/ And it fits the purpose of being a multiplier with Overheat/Wildfire, so I prefer to don't make it shorter, but just more powerful, and yea, maybe for more shots.

9. (Hypercharge removal to become a 2% passive) Well, I don't know what to think about it, I like the fact we feel useful at a chosen moment of the fight and not everytime like just a passive thing. That's not what the machinist is about as he is more of a "I burst when it's needed to carry bad dps" (what a BRD can't really do as well as a Machinist would, btw).

10. (New Raise skill, defibrilator) I agree in a way, I thought about a whole new system of stance, where the Machinist switch weapon with the one Gun Mages from FFX-2 have. This one had healing and protective skills by shooting on his allies (and also offensive ones). That would be great to have a second weapon knowing we got a free slot in second hand and we have currently no use of our MP bar unlike before (to give back MP/TP to allies). As you kinda meant, we have a machine charging electricity, something like this, so we could use like the defibrilator, so yea, the Gun Mage stance could just use that energy differenty. And we would reswitch weapon to be more powerful.

Make flamethrower floating text yellow and make it tic every second. I feel like that would make it super satisfying to use, if not to look at lol

It already ticks every second. The yellow would just fling uselessness in your face.

I love so much that is suggested in this thread. SE make this thread happen!

Give MCH a 5% Piercing Debuff, makes its personal DPS 4-5% higher than Bard. These change will allow more creative team comp:

- MCH no longer need a DRG in the group and vice versa. DRG don't get ridiculous rDPS by stacking both Bard and MCH

- MCH + Bard is a thing: bard gives rDPS and support while MCH's contribution is Bard's extra DPS. Both will have similar dps after piercing debuff is account for.

- Because MCH becomes self-sufficient, it can fit in other team comp: MCH + RDM + NIN + SAM anyone?

Last but not least, I am sick of relying on a DRG to be optimal as MCH. Bard, I can understand because of Battle Litany. MCH should be a strong, independent range dps that need no DRG to be complete !!!

Edit: Actually, Hypercharge can use a buff too. 6% might be competitive to bard rDPS while not making MCH bursted. (Bard + MCH will probably not as good Bard + DRG anyway because of Litany)
