Make all Tome/Raid Gear Dyable

Let's be real here, the appearance shouldn't be as important as the stats. Make it so that all gear earned is dyable. We shouldn't need to clear savage to have our gear the way we want. Keep higher stats for savage clearers, along with exclusive savage weapons, etc, and make all the normal sets dyable. Clearing is great, but epic stats are special snowflake enough.

When we can upgrade it later it will be dyable, it is a bonus for raiders to be able to dye it before everyone else.

I'm arguing against this. No one should have to wait to dye gear. That's punishing players for not doing savage content. Looks aren't so important that savage clearers should be the ones exclusive to dye their sets.

glamor is the true end game. if this is savage dyeable gear, better be able to do savage for your look

Raiding is content meant to feel rewarding on multiple levels and should have something for everyone, as there isn't just one type of individual interested in raids and pushing themselves to their best. Expanded fanservice, mounts, dyeable gear for glam, high stats; there's so much to entice people from different parts of the game now and that's a great thing.

Special Snowflake is a snide remark and spits on those people; it's pretty rude.

If SE makes it dyeable from the start are you okay with it always being 10 item levels lower than the raid gear then (ie no ez mode upgrade items from alliance raids or hunts)? I'd definitely make that trade. :D

As it stands now, pretty much all raiders DO have is timed exclusivity on things like glams and item levels. Wish people would stop wanting to take even that away.

Looks are important and are part of the prestige for clearing savage. This game caters mostly to casual players (like almost all content is aimed at us), let them have something from time to time.

I'd prefer to see raiders granted something special as an added incentive. If you really want the dyeable versions of high end gear then you can always fight for it yourself or just wait until later on in the expansion when a much higher item level renders the earlier tiers of content much easier to tackle through the party finder.

It's working as intended.

Why shouldnt players get rewarded for doing savage content? Why is dying certain gear something all should have access to?

I was quite happy with the Creator gear design choice, with savage raiders getting unique models for their gear. Sadly this didnt carry over to Stormblood.

You are not losing anything by not having some parts of the game gated by certain contents. Therefore, no punishment.

You've got a few options actually.
1) Wait until catch up patch, which is built around casual players in general

In all seriousness, OP, I'm inclined to think that the reason raiders get first/exclusive access to greater glamour options is precisely because SE is trying to incentivize people who don't care about raiding for it's own sake. At some point they learned that the casual base likes glamours, so maybe if they make raid gear dyeable and standard gear not, more people will try raiding.

Further, while I too dislike being unable to dye certain gear, not everyone needs everything. For example at the moment most of my FC is whining and carrying on about being unable to obtain the new tmaps without spending some $$$ since they never bothered to level gathering classes. But I did put in that effort (or mindless slogging rather) and I would be upset if they started dropping from dungeons or something like that. Perspective is important.

You have weapons that no one else can get. That's exclusive enough.

I won't mind if they make normal raid gear dyeable IF savage raid gear was unique and different from normal one (dyeable too).

You can also get the maps from Wonderous Tales. This week you can get one for just completing the 9 stickers.

The Ala Mhigan gear is dyable, and no one complained. I think it's just special snowflaking that makes people not want non savage gear to be dyed.

There's nothing stopping you from working towards acquiring them. I'm sure all that time you spend posting on the forum could be funneled into getting a group together and at least trying to acquire the rewards for yourself. High end raiders tackle the most challenging content in the game and for many there needs to be a solid rewards beyond just bragging rights. Exclusive glamour options work very well in that regard - and it is precisely what got a lot of people into raiding in the first place back in certain other MMO's too.

The lack of dyeing option in this game on all levels (dungeons gear, normal gear, tome gear) is the reason why I'm almost never changing my glam. I don't see any valuable reason as to why they don't add it to all gears.

As for end game gear, this expansion's new gears are ugly enough you'd think they'd let people dye it to try and make something outta it.

It's the lower tier of gear, you've never had to raid to upgrade that.

Savage glamour for savage raiders. Sounds fair.

I glamoured over all top accessible gear with whatever I thought looked better, for instance last expansion I was a Dark Knight wearing a cowboy glamour. In general, dye as a reward is kind of weak for savage raiders, give them mount achievements or something that way they're not gained by the non-raiders each patch. Anyone who does said achievements also gets to feel rewarded later in the expansion. (Ie: Clears, not dying during certain phases, high dps to bosses etc). When you compare it to other games like GW2 it looks pretty darn limiting when you consider that glamour there actually, and literally, is the end game.

Make all gear dyable, and give the savage gear actual unique models.

Because I am going to wind up glamouring away the looks of the raid gear most of the time anyways unless I actually like the outfit.

In this case the omega gear just does not suit my tastes, so the ability to change the color is just not incentive enough.

But then you run into the issue where players like the OP begin to moan that the cool glamours are held behind savage.

I'd be behind a similar concept of the replica Allagan gear where it would be crafted from materials dropped from savage. That way the incentive to run it is still there and casuals can still get dyed gear using cash if they want it.

Then throw mounts in instead, as dyeable gear is just not that big of an incentive from a glamour, or prestige, perspective as different models or mounts.

And in all honesty replica gear would be nice too. However I do not think the mats should require one to run savage, the chief reason being that heavily dilutes the savage drop table and would lead to a lot of angry raiders. Instead it should be treated as any other glamour piece that is crafted.

The aetherstones required to craft the replica allagan gear doesn't take up any normal loot slots, so it wouldn't dilute the savage drop table.

They invest money to make the raids, gotta make it interesting and worth the time spent in it.

I think savage and new super savage gear should have different appearence and not just be dyeable.
