it always happens when I least expect it to.
Its always in august ish
Huh. I always expect late june or early july.
Maybe they'll time it around the eclipse this year.
Last year happened from Aug 5th to 26th. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...oonfire_Faire/
Oh, the Shisui stuff will be dyable? Lovely~
If that's the case.... I need more retainer space.... again. T.T
It always has to be right when I'm gearing up with working out lesson plans and doing final prep for back-to-school. >_<
Is it really so hard to just make the gear that drops dyeable in the first place? So that we can get new clothing appearances...
I'm extremely disappointed hearing this about the rewards. The shisui is nice and all but did it really have to take up an entire event? A whole event that is used to give out the same items we already had for maybe 2 months(by then), that almost everyone is wearing already, but just dyeable versions. Why not have it as a crafted item or Shisui drop? But an entire event where we could've gotten a bunch of new stuff instead? Why...
I'm not particularly fond of the Shisui set petsonally since its way too skimpy for me... but I guess it will be nice for all those catgirls (and boys) I see hanging around Kugane in their oriental themed underpants.
My guess is that they don't need to put any effort into it because the expansion is still new and savage has just released so there's is no further need to incentivize people to stay subbed.
That's why the Rising event further down the line has that cool jacket and possibly minions, players will start unsubbing by then and may changes their mind to be able to grab the rewards.
That "money first" mentality they've starting going into lately is frankly worrying me.
Lazy with new gear designs, cash shop-only glamour, cash shop-only emotes... What's next ?
Not to mention they're not doing the effort to give us new summer/swimsuit designs in the expansion that gave us swimming (inb4 cash shop only).
Gonna say it.
I think it's, in my opinion, pretty damn lazy for them to choose to make the event gear an item already in game that doesn't even look that great in the first place.
Not looking to start anything. Probably worded that a little harsh.
I'm somewhat stuck here.
On one hand I'm happy they are giving us dyable versions of popular dungeon gear in an event over doing their usual of either cash-shop only or high level glamour crafting.
On the other hand, I completely understand the frustration in that it's an already existing set of gear we can easily grind for now if you can get over the default colors and this means the data to make it dyable exists! So why wasn't it dyable by default?
:/
It's meant to be incentive for players to sub until the event or sub specifically for the event. That's the whole allure of seasonal events, you sub for that one period that event happens, and that's an instant $15 revenue SE has made. Now time that by the amount of people in love with the Shisui gear, but unsubbed as soon as Stormblood's MSQ was over coming back to do the event... it adds up. And that's why dyeable stuff isn't available immediately.
I'm not saying it's OK, but it's the reason why we're getting dyeable Shisui gear and nothing else.
Its also probably a way to allow people to glamour a single set over any job's gear they want, rather than constantly farming Shisui for every single set. It saves on Armory Chest/Inventory/Retainer space, honestly.
Also, they're likely doing a rehash of a set because of the fact that the Rising is going to have a completely new piece of gear unique to the event. What looks to be a varsity letterman's jacket with the Meteor emblem on the front.
This and
this.
A common, dyeable shisui set is nice, but I rather we get it from elsewhere and the moonfire event to give us full length (plain) yukata like the ones worn by NPCs in kugane. It's obvious (imo) that they don't really care about clipping that much anyway, might as well. :/
I would most certainly complain. I'm already upset that they're implementing this set with absolutely nothing equivalent for those with male characters - heck, I'd gladly wear the dress if they can't be bothered to come up with anything new. Adding it as yet another in-game bonus set for female characters only would make me even more annoyed. We've been waiting for two and a half years for some equivalent to the last gender-locked female-only bonuses added to the Gold Saucer and still have no indication that it's really ever going to arrive.
(I know that Mog Station is a lame way to deal with these things, but at least that way the people with special treatment are paying a premium to receive it rather than being arbitrarily punished for picking the 'wrong' gender at character creation.)
I don't think the players should be punished for the developer's choice though. Besides, there are players who object to male characters wearing female clothing as well, but let's keep this debate on the other thread that's meant for this instead should we?
Why not? The current PotD is probably the best option to release this reward lore-wise, they can just lock it behind clearing floor 50/100/150/200 and then costing shards to purchase like the PotD orchestrion scrolls. For the male version... maybe give them the gear of the floor 100 boss?
I agree about not having the whole 'men cannot wear skirts' debate here too, so I'll try to avoid that side (anyone wishing to start that up again is more than welcome to see me in the other thread). I just wanted to note that I'd wear Edda's outfit if it was a choice between that or nothing, because, well, I would. There are quite a lot of things I'd wear if the choice was to have something or have nothing :D
Frankly, I would find it scummy to add extra rewards that only 50% of the players doing that content can actually equip. With the other locked items in sacks, both types drop and (unfair ratio of unisex:female-only aside) players with male characters can still expect to be able to wear a proportion of the rewards. Having the Blackbosom gear available from sacks or potsherds is basically saying that female characters who continue to run POTD get new incentives to do so, while male characters just have to keep using the old incentives. It's arguably even worse than the GS situation because it actively affects motivation for doing team-based gameplay content. The bunny suit problem only affects the amount of time you feel motivated to sink into some silly solo content which doesn't matter.
While Edda's costume is an order of magnitude more special than the fabric thrown onto the floor 100 boss, I wouldn't be so mad if they'd at least done what you suggest so we could all work towards something together, like people paying the same amount for the game subscription. But they didn't, and if they still haven't produced a highly requested male-only GS reward costume after 2.5 years of people asking then I don't think it likely they will delay Edda's costume further to give them time to make a pile of rags for players of male characters to work on. If they can't cope with creating two sets of rewards for players paying the same subscription fees, Edda's set needs to be an optional add-on.
Incidentally, how would people feel if an improved version of the POTD mount was released male-only as a compromise? Avere is male, right? Have it play actual POTD music and glow like the improved Whisper mount or something, to make it more desirable. I can imagine the forum rants from players with female characters and the Edda dress already.
I think Yoshi-P actually raised this concern (where only female can equip the dress) when the players requested for the dress on one of the fan feast or some other event but the players said they still want it anyway. I suppose if the dress are tradeable then players with male characters will still have an incentive to farm for it since it will probably sell for high amount of gil assuming it's a sack loot unless it got a really high drop rate.
Overall I do agree with your concern but I don't think there's really an ideal solution that can pleased everyone though. If they add it in-game via PotD then there will be players complaining about the gender-lock issue, if they add it on the kupo store then there will be players complaining about cash grab or double dipping, if they add it anywhere else I can bet you thirty dozen Lalafells that there will still be insert-random complaints about it. Hell, I'll say now if they add it as a gold trim sack AH loot from floor 151-200 without changing the current PotD system (pre-made party starting from floor 51 and multiple RNGs gate), I will probably start a new thread to beech about it. One way or another, I just wish we can get it sooner than later, I can't wait to cosplay as black Edda! x3
...and the new moonfire glamour gear as well, will really help save my inventory space. I wish August is here already!
Meh, if I get a say in it I'd say clearing floor 50 for gear and 100 for weapons. Both of them are quite easily puggable and doesn't take much time as a one-time unlock (like the PotD orchestrion rolls). I just toss in 150 and 200 in there to silence those exclusive snowflakes. Personally I don't want to run 200 again if possible.
Also, just to make it clear for those who didn't participate in PotD, there are 3 Orchestrion rolls which cost 1/5/10 pot shards but they will only be unlock for purchase after clearing floor 100/150/200 respectively. With the number of loots (4 gear + 5 weapons), IF they are a reward from PotD, I'd rather they be given out based on the orchestrion rolls method (shards + clearing certain floors) then adding more to the pool of the multiple RNG BS from trimmed sacks, especially if it's from 151-200.
Alternatively I'm also fine with it coming from the kupo store which I think is the more likely case, just throwing out my 10 gil here.
I find it hilarious (not realy) that Edda's outfit is already in the game, but there is no news about the bunny outfit for males. An outfit that has been asked for since 2015. Well atleast one can not complain that SE is consistent when it comes to favouritism. Edda's outfit will probably be released during the Halloween event, I hope for the playerbase that this does not become a Mog Station purchase.
On-topic:
Like many I too am dissappointed that we are getting a dyable dungeon gear for the Moonfire Faire, I was hoping that the outfit that the NPC's in Kugane are wearing would have been the reward for this year's Moonfire Faire. Atleast we are still getting a outfit in August via the Rising Event.
