Time for SE to drop the ego.

Im aware that this game is incredibly popular, but FFXIV is well past the point where there are people engaged in every fate. And the game is definitely past the point of there being huge amounts of people in each questing area. Even on servers like Giglamesh.

So why the hell does SE think it's acceptable to drop fates on questing destinations? This is ridiculous. You dont have the numbers to possibly think fates are being completed each time they pop up. Impeding players from completing a quest is an unacceptable practice.

And dont give me that crap about doing something else, fanboy apologists. If you get caught up doing other stuff, there is a good chance that the fate will return as you make your way back to the quest in question. Or it will drop right on you.
Im just one subscription, so im sure SE doesnt care about me, but im strongly thinking of not resubbing next month. I dont have time to deal an absolutely stupid design such as fates ruining my questing progression.

What this game needs is competition. For some reason the other MMO's that are out right now aren't really helping with it. I hope Blizzard can step up their game at some point

I think he's talking about where some fates spawn right on top of quest locations, making it annoying to do those quests.

I never noticed this o.o and I did most of the story on Mateus, and we almost never saw people in the zones while questing.

That was my interpretation as well.

Ixion and people afk in The Lochs cock blocking others from actually being able to progress MSQ, etc is definitely a valid complaint (which should hopefully be remedied by the reinstatement of instances), but this...this is not.

Square Enix's FFXIV is further from the mindset that you made them out to be. These folks are down to earth, they are very humble. They are also compassionate about their job. They put 8 years of development into 4 years of development making Realm Reborn WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, adding content to FFXIV 1.0. Some of them literally slept in their cubicles sometimes days at a time.

The development team sacrificed their after hours work for FOUR YEARS to make this game a game that truly lives up to the "Final Fantasy" name.

Yoshi, bowed and then cried saying he was so sorry because the Realm Reborn launch wasn't smooth. How many developers do you know cries while apologizing to his fans? Um no one??

So, good sir, you are further from the truth if you think Square Enix doesn't care for you. They may not be your mother and make sure you eat your cereal but they are are here for us for this game.

I feel like MSQ never takes you anywhere that you are terribly outclassed by... Why not just do the fate? I mean it's a mild inconvenience but outside of combat you can swap classes with no penalty so even if you don't want do the fate on that class you could just swap out.

Also the title of this thread is just some trolling bull, if you hate SE so much go play something else.

You can always note the "time remaining" for a FATE and go take a break. Or, even better, work on more than that one. single. quest. obscured by the FATE.

I haven't found any FATE out there (or A/S rank monster) that entirely removes the possibility to progress with side-quests.

Are...they talking about the really really popular fate like Ixion that spawns every...oh I don't know. Three days? Or the Fox lady fate that spawns every 12-24 hours?

At-level FATES in the new zones sometimes spawn on my mining points MID GATHER so I don't have a chance to put my Stealth on. It'd be comical if it wasn't like a near instant KO since gathering gear has no vitality.

There are so many other concerns with the game and THIS was the last straw?

Yes. Some fates spawn near or on top of questing locations. One such example is fates south of Camp Dragonhead when you are doing the gathering Ixal quest there. They make it really difficult (impossible) to use one of the trees if your gatherer is lower level, until the fate is finished.

There are quite a few fates that spawn close to main story quest locations, too. But they are not as frequent (and with the timer on them, it's not hard to know when to come to not be caught by another fate again), not to mention, it's actually very much possible to pass the mobs for the locations without fighting them. It just takes some basic skill in paying attention to the surroundings, instead of standing in the first spot from which you can interact with whatever is part of the quest...

If desperate, just ask someone through a Yell to "tank" the mobs for a few seconds...It's not like they need to be killed. Just grabbing their attention so that you can interact. As a summoner/scholar, that can easily be done with the summon, just have them take aggro. As anyone else...well, the Chocobo companion can leave for a little bit. If you aggro only one mob, max two, you should be able to interact with the quest easily enough.

If I'm not mistaken they've asked us to report such incidents - along with "Hey, there are mobs very close to a node!" - so they can look into and possibly change it.
Either way: FATEs arent on the map forever, most of them last for 15 minutes max, normally you're even able to solo them - and I cant recall a point where a FATE hindered my story/quest progression. Doesnt mean that there absolutly was non, but if it happend, it obviously didnt happen enough in 4 years to leave a real impression.

Also... what does that has to do with their "ego"? How is placing FATEs at certain quest-spots related to someones ego at all?

Most of the time FATEs aren't up in the exact same spot on all instances. It can happen, but from what I saw when the instances were up right after SB launched it was VERY rare.

That FATE resspawns within a few minutes of it ending. Sometimes faster. Not all of us are neckbeards who get to game all day. Not being able to progress because of some b.s. like this is a big problem for us evil casual normies who cant play 18 hrs a day.

Fate. the development of events beyond a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power... So by that merit they are doing their intended duty. They are a random variable that yes may impede your progress and it's up to you whether or not you choose to partake in the duty.

Sorry fam, but the most casual of casuals can still get through the MSQ. What you are complaining about is a non-issue. If this is such a struggle for you for some reason, it may be time for some introspection.

I'm honestly wondering what FATE-quest-combination is giving you so much trouble since I cant recall having any issues like that.
Fates being in the way of my gathering - yes.
Mobs attacking me on occassion while handing in quests - sure.

But never something like you describing... so whats the FATE thats troubling you on which quest?

The fate you're talking about is literally on the back end of Western La Noscea, the only quests that would ask you to go there are Job quests and Sahagin quests.

I understood what the OP meant right away because, even if I don't have an issue with this, I have a friend who has died a few times while doing his MSQ because a FATE spawned on top of him. He's a proud loldragoon.

While this is...technically an issue sometimes, I'm sure I can think of at least 100 other things that need to be fixed first.

That's not really a problem, there is 2 easy options:

1. Do the fate.
2. Then Do your quest

1. Wait for the fate to expire (Usually 15 minutes)
2. Then Do your quest.

Now, sometimes, even rarely, a fate might pop up on your face while you're already deeply busy with a quest fight. Survive or don't. You're just a simple respawn away to do your quest again in the worst case.

An Elite A rank camping a lowbie quest spot is something that can really prevent a player from completing a quest if nobody comes to kill it. That's a valid complaint. But fates can be easily dealt with or worked around.

at least you found the time to complain, I am still trying to understand what that has to do with EGO at the end of the day. Fate spawns don't bother me, I walk either around it or kill it. Fates will give you more exp anyways, unless it's a MSQ npc you're talking about, that stands right in the center of the boss mob. Doubtful.

Let me add this tho, since you are pretty much stressed out already, wait till you run in the actual problem, that happens more often actually. You try to do your MSQ and a S/A rank pop's right on top of you and the npc, if you're on a low populated server, you probably done for the next 4 days, because it will 1 shot you and without people killing it or server maintenance, it isn't going to just disappear. Enjoy :)

Not doing what you want isn't egotistical. To assume so is actually the other way around.

...so either complete the FATE in question, wait nearby for it to finish or just go do something else and return later? It's a minor inconvenience at best.

what is the correlation between a company's ego and you not being able to finish a quest...?

An aggro hunt camping over the place you need to go with a lowbie?

A fate spawns over the location you are working in ?

Aggro hunt: shout its position and you'll find people happy to clear it for you.
Fate: do it. Fates aren't really life threatening and it is faster to complete than wait its expire.

This reminds me of when Bailarina spawned right outside Ul'dah, at the spot newbie miners (like myself) were trying to do their job. She kept destroying anyone who approached that certain mining spot, and since the place was full of cute new players (new Louisoix server), it kept happening. I found it very funny, hahaha. I love this kind of sudden adventure you have to overcome to reach your goals.

Not sure this is about Ego, although I do admit that I tend to get certain quests near fates and even hunts (on an alt, one hunt spanwed quite literally near the quest area and he was aggressive, so it was impossible for me to kill as a lvl 30).

If anything just make Fate mobs and hunts neutral or passive and there you go, problem solved.

The only FATEs you will have troubles with are boss FATEs that have no rewards, or no good rewards. Mikuzume FATE and the Ixion FATE are done constantly, because both contain rewards people want to grind for(except when you have the rewards).
