Well, that most recent Spear thread is out the window.
Well, ast will still shine and will have a great place with this BUT
This sounds like Spear will now be more used. And it's a good thing since it was almost forgotten
I am quite satisfied with this change. Standby for overwhelming whining, however. You know it's coming...
I hope the other ASTs are happy now, they screamed for buffs so hard they got us a nerf.
They nerfed Balance, yes, but they gave us a better Spear. I call that a win...
Yep, I liked what they did with Spear.
The changes make me really happy. Now I feel as though every card has a purpose and Balance isn't so strong that I feel like I HAVE to discard my current card to fish for it.
I'm bracing myself for a few individuals to come in here and start screaming though.
Spear is now an actual card instead of just an automatic Shuffle/Royal Road/Undraw? Hallelujah.
Thank god they nerfed Balance. Now ASTs can stop drowning in the salt of the other healers and all the misdirected hate all over that one card.
Now it will take at least a few days for people to calculate optimal benefits of Balance vs Arrow vs Spear to find out which card is most meta.
Enjoy the calm before the storm, folks!
The nerf to it wasn't even that terrible given what we got in return. But you're right, people will find a reason to be upset over it.
I'll accept the Balance nerf because now we have 3 DPS boosting options in Arrow, Balance, and Spear.
But I swear if I see other Healers complaining about AST now...
Now people will complain about spear..
Balance - use
Bole - use/RR
Arrow - use
Spear - use
Spire - RR
Ewer - RR/use (sometimes)
I'll be honest... RR Bole and use Spear... seems rather enticing...
The ability to discard Spreads and Royal Roads was something we already had before and was removed only due to oversight: when they changed card effects from status effects over into the new gauge.
It's not a buff to be able to even further micro-manage your cards; that's just playing the job the way it's supposed to be played, and not all ASTs are going to throw away everything just to AOE Balance every chance they get. The ASTs that do aren't playing the job correctly. Royal Road and Spread will still have their applicable cooldowns, just like they did before. Discard a bad Spread? Well, you still have to wait 30 seconds to actually hold another card.
People are still going to want Balance more than anything else. That's not going to change.
AST main here. Not one bit mad and welcome the new and better spear!
All those roids have finally caught up to Balance and it's... erhem... shrunken a bit. Well, we're back to where we started, it was nice while it lasted.
Spear hit puberty and is suddenly popular with the boys (and some of the girls). But now she's going to be so busy with her new friends that her old friend Spire will probably start feeling lonely. That's okay Spire, just like the permanent designated driver, everyone appreciates you for your Royal Road qualities.
Are you...coming at me from a different thread or something? This response doesn't even look like it makes sense, and you're deliberately replying to me, so I'm gonna assume you hold a grudge from another thread.
Also: AST Gauge was a nerf, ASTs whined, got the pathetic excuse for an RNG system back, it really is that simple, sweetheart.
Now, given that this seems highly off-topic, I'll be ignoring further conversation on this subject, within this thread, as that's against even the most basic forum rules.
This took way too long to happen. Thank you SE, this is going to go a long way in balancing healers.
Woot! Called it #SaltblockBandwagon
My only fear is that, given how much weaker our DPS abilities are, the 5% nerf in party DPS may hurt. I'm too lazy to crunch numbers right now, though.
My take on it is this... Yeah, Balance was reduced by 10%/5%, but in return, we were given 10%/5% Crit, which applies to everyone, all the time, regardless of role. I'd have no reservations AoE'ing a Spear.
Just out of curiosity, but would stacking a 150% buffed Spear, Battle Litany, and Chain Strategem give 15 seconds (chain's duration) of +60% crit? Is that how it works?
I'm ok with the cards changes, although I would like a little buff to our dps, because I'm feeling it's gonna be gordias/midas again.
I'm satisfied with the changes. Balance was nerfed but we got new Spear in return. So now we have more ways to increase party DPS instead of just one being the dominant one. Now people can finally stop complaining about Balance. If they bring up the Spear card now however... then it'll be just plain ridiculousness.
I love the gauge. Once I got used to it, it made it much easier to see my cards and tbh it's very pretty to look at. but the easiest solution would have been to just give us the buff icons WITH the gauge. that would solve all of the problems the gauge currently subjects us to.
Well, the 200% Spear would be duration rather than potency. The increase of potency would be 150% (15% on an individual). Throw a Celestial Opposition on them, perhaps a Time Dilation, Chain Strategem, Battle Litany, Trick Shot (whatever that ninja thing is)... /wrecked
In all fairness, I doubt some of the crit buffs will stack. If they do initially, I'm sure it will get hotfixed. Last thing we need is the "Anti-Balance movement" becoming the "Anti-Spear movement."
Not sure why people are still acting like Aspected Benefic vs Adlo isn't a problem.
Given current gimped Critical Strike modifiers (the % bonus damage given), they've found the one way to make Spear even less effective. It would need to be over 25% to be competitive with the new Balance or Arrow, at which point it would synergize too well with Monks and Bards. A 15% increased Critical Strike Chance and Critical Strike Bonus would still favor those with high Critical Strike stat and Crit dependence, but at least retain a more general balance.
I think Astrologion got buffed instead of nerfed. With the addition of Spear, you don't have to fish for Balance anymore. Which means you now have two cards that are incredibly useful and bring raid DPS. Which means that the uptime of these useful cards will be much higher than when just fishing for Balance cards. If this actually ends up being a buff, I can't say I'm nothing but disgusted.
