Getting a little tired of the all the salty QQ monk threads....

i317 monk main here. The job is not perfect; none of them are. Accept it and move on. Otherwise play some other job.
Plenty of players are having consistent success in damage-dealing with maining monk.
Ever stop to think maybe it's player in general and not the class? Seriously.

No one is complaining about the dmg MNKs does, it does perfectly good dmg. All complaints are about a bunch of completely useless skills and RoF feeling off.

wait let me get this right, Bards cried about class change not being fun for the longest, and now monks can't do it? Eh?

This community feels like it got worse over the years. I mean, I use to feel bad with how people treated drg in the old days...but now all classes are victims and all classes want other classes nerf to be as boring as the class they are on.

I really don't get it. Why can't they remove the real useless skills how they did with nearly all classes in SB.

Arm of the Destroyer - too low potency or too high tp cost for aoeing. Silence useless because only 33% chance of being in right form.
One Ilm Punch - Lets assume that skill is just for the Stun because otherwise it's crap. Same problem with AotD.
Fists of Wind - 99% Fists of Fire and 1% maybe Fists of Earth.
Purification - Since the tp costs are so low now, you really don't need this skill.
Tackle Mastery - Completely useless. Just make Enhanced Greased Lightning 3 if you want so.

I know many Jobs have Skills which they are using not that much but at least once in a fight. But these skills are used NEVER.

No one is complaining about the dps monk does. Just give us some usefull skills.

While I do agree with OP, having mained MNK through the release of SB and finding it greatly enjoyable, and having no issue with RoF unlike a lot of others, I do agree with these skills being totally useless:

Purification especially, given MNK still gets Invigorate as a Role Skill.
Tackle Mastery I like the idea of at least, but given the aforementioned uselessness of both Fists of Earth and Fists of Wind, really all it amounts to is a straight buff for Shoulder Tackle, which is underwhelming to say the least. To say nothing of how the additional effect for Earth is just kind of stupid. A knock-back? For MNK? When would you ever need to use that? Maybe if you wanted to get a bit of room to run from a mob after getting in hot water while doing solo mob-farming or something, but otherwise I just can't see the point to it.

Yep completely the opposite of what would work for monk. If anything a move similar to rescue would be better so we could pull mobs closer to us lol

If they remove Arm of Destroyer we will have no other gcd AoE other than rockbreaker. Wouldn't that make monk alot more dull and weak to use in dungeons? The tp cost isn't a issue if you use invigorate/purification. Both Arm of the Destroyer and Purification are great for dungeons.

They don't need to remove Arm of Destroyer monks just need to have a AoE in Raptor Form. The only skills that needs changing for monk is One Ilm Punch and Tackle Mastery. If they replace Tackle Mastery with a riddle of wind ability that is useful and One Ilm Punch with a AoE weaponskill Monk will feel complete. Alot of monk players on this forum want to change/remove stuff that doesn't need to be touched.

Arm of the Destroyer just needs a potency buff and it would be fine. Put it at like 100 pot and remove the silence.

Getting sick of all the qq monk threads so I'm going to make a thread to qq about them. ...well played...

so you main monk and you really want me to believe there isn't a ton of useless abilities and even underwhelming support abilities when paired up with trick attack or battle litany? Monk needs a lot of work still at this point, it really feels like the dev team didn't know what to do to monk in the expansion so they just added some random crap to see how it would go

Yes, let's not "cry" about. Let's just silently leave them be, as the core of their job is destroyed with clunky abilities and useless filled skills.

Tackle Mastery is absolutely useless. It baffles me why SE saw fit to even do this. Did they really not have any other ideas for Monk?
And RoF, while definitely powerful, feels like a slap in the face for long-time Monk players.
Meanwhile Ninja does as much damage as us, and they didn't need to lose the core of their identity for it to happen.

I actually thought they would of expanded on chakra abilities. We could of had an aoe version, one that gave instant gl3 etc.

You are getting tired of these salty monk threads but it doesn't sound like you have read a single one of them. None of them are talking about damage. In fact most of them explicitly say the damage is fine up front. Was this some pseudo epeen disguised thread where you thought you could brag that you are a better MNK than the people in those threads? News flash, MNK is one of the easier classes in the game.

The things that people are complaining about is that the class doesn't feel fun and doesn't feel like it has evolved for the last 2 expansions. Maybe you don't feel that way and that is cool. Usually when you see the a lot of the same topic pop up over and over again it hints that there might be a majority opinion towards that idea.

Glad that you like the new job, OP. Or more like, the exact same job as before, only slower and even more repetitive. Most veteran monks are bound to be angry though.

It is kind of strange. Using a skill to get to something and knocking it away. ???? Like I get that it could be nice for pushing enemies away out of combat but then you might interrupt other people that were attacking it. I mean imagine if you had double monks in a 4 man dungeon, that sounds horrible.

Tackle Mastery works very well in PVP, the double shoulder tackle works well for mobility and the knockback works well in a variety of ways, from saving yourself, to knocking someone off a cliff or knocking them into your teammates.

Which begs the question of why it wasn't implemented solely as a PVP only thing since that is the only thing Should Tackle Mastery genuinely works in.

I think the OP posted a sloppy thread not geared for any constructive dialogue. Anyone with 2 IQ points to rub together on the issue knows DPS numbers have not been the central issue. "I'm ilvl317 Monk" - anyone consider that he could be a SAM player since they share the same gear anyways? Many players have higher ilvls than myself as Monk simply because they play the game overall far more and just gear everything up despite having no love or care for the job.

If it works good in PvP then they can have it, I'll gladly exchange it for Axe Kick or Somersault any day.
