Don't know about Red Mage, but you'd have to have some pretty good healing to endure a lot of what it had I know some classes that could solo some of the first set of turns no longer can thanks to the loss of certain skills (Sustain). And on youtube I'm only seeing Coil Turn 1 to Turn 5 with solo attempts, so I don't think anyone has managed to get any others done besides the first five.
You're better off starting a PF group for it instead of waiting to do it solo, for some reason.
doesn't the dreadknight mechanic screw this up?
How long are you giving it to fill up? Are you playing in the prime time for the server? As Valkyrie said, it's impossible to solo most of the turns due to mechanics. Indeed, with one of the coils, you need 8 people to be able to reach the boss because of mechanics.
I'm having the same problem, I would also like to complete Coil to see the story on those raids, but no one wants to do old content anymore.
I't's really hard to get a party going for coil, same thing with the big party raids like LoA, I've been trying to get in a party for the ghost ship for a week now with no luck, it takes too long to get all the players, it's funny cuz in most of the que attempts tanks and healers fill kinda fast but there's always 2 or 3 DPS missing which ends on a tank/healer leaving the que cuz of the amount of time it takes to fill, so it becomes an endless loop of never getting all the players needed. :(
I do hope they let us solo those too or make some incentive to run them since it seems no one wants to do em anymore.
Around 90 minutes to two hours. I am not for sure when prime time is but I usually either wait after 9pm or around 9am in the morning. I work all day so if prime time is in between there i'm SoL lel.
Oh, I see. Well I guess i wasted my money on this game then. That's too bad because I really like this game and its story and characters. Time to find a different game and cancel my sub then.
Same problem, many people don't seem to be interested to do khloe book anymore then even unsync, most of time, there are not enough players interested. I experienced to launch pf with always the same result : people don't want to wait. One, two, three... not even ten minutes, and one leave and so on. After not even twenty minutes, waiting solo...
CT is hard too, even after the reset.
...You bought an MMO and thought you'd be able to solo what used to be top-tier endgame content? I mean... you do realize this is a game designed for multiple players, which means that... fights have to be designed with the need for multiple people in mind.
That said, it's not as impossible as some people are making it out to be. Turns 1-4 can be solo'd, but Turn 5 you will need at least two to stop the Dreadknight; Turn 6 can probably be solo'd with 70 gear although if I was trying, I'd go PLD over RDM; Turn 7 you might be able to do with two; Turn 8 can probably be done with as few as two or three if you can skip the missiles; Turn 9 I've done with three; Turn 10 will still require at least two to keep the adds apart; Turn 11 does not actually require 8 people to get through the maze, not sure why anyone is saying that, but you do need to be able to split up and keep adds apart, so this one will likely never be solo-able; Turn 12 I've done with three could probably be done with two though; Turn 13 I've done with two.
Long and short of it is, if you can't find at least three other people willing to run you through this content, I really don't think you're actually trying. Do you have an FC? Have you tried a cross-world PF?
Edit: Just realized below you mentioned you haven't gone on to Heavensward content yet. You will not be able to solo any of the turns in ARR gear. If this is the route you want to take, doing things in chronological order, I would recommend just watching the cutscenes online.
I'm only doing it for the side story stuff with Alphinaud and Alisae. I don't care about the drops or anything. I'm kinda a story whore, so I don't like doing things in the story out of order, so I haven't moved on to Heavensward because I want to do BCoB and Crystal Tower first. It sucks that this optional content has some interesting story stuff locked behind 8 man and 24 man raids that most people no longer want to do.
You don't need a full group. Make a party finder and after a few people join, go for it. You don't necessarily need a tank for most turns.
I can solo T1 to T6 with full Mhigan/Susano/Lakshmi/Omega gear i316. Above that you'll be lacking heal and get screwed by mechanics.
The thing is to hone your black and white mana before twister phase to burst it and skip it.
You know, I clicked this thread because I was interested in soloing Coils as well, never having done it myself either. I was then pleasantly surprised when I saw the OP was from my server and had resolved to send her a tell in game asking her if she wanted to join my husband and I in trying it later. After several successive posts full of rude, snarly attitude toward people actually giving good advice, I've already changed my mind. No wonder no one wants to join your PF if you act like this.
Best of luck getting your story quests done, OP.
It's not your level that makes it difficult to solo it's simply mechanics. Even at level 100 you'd probably still need 2 people minimum to do t5 and deal with the dread night mechanic..
(Though chances are by then players will be doing a million dps and kill it with a single auto attack)
Mechanics are the issue. Was a discussion the other day about soloing the 24 mans. And mechanically speaking you could not clear lota with less than 15 people no matter what level they are. Because you wouldn't make it past stamps without 4 on each pad and at least one smashing it.
I'm not in an FC because I don't want to burden them with my drama that I always seem to have, even when it's unintentional. In addition, I don't like guilds, always some cancerous shit that happens. Here let me give you an example of the shit that happens when I join one:
1. PSO2, join a guild for fun stuff, guild leader eventually backs out because they don't want to take responsibility and disbands the guild.
2. Help form another guild for fun, then I get accused of turning people against each other when I had nothing to do with it. All I wanted is to run quests, help people out and have fun, you know, play the game?
3. Guild shrinks in size, I'm stuck running a dead guild because I have no evidence to prove my innocence and people believe the first thing that comes out of people's mouths.
4. Someone starts a rumor that I'm impersonating people when I don't even have the vanity items to do that shit. I do not impersonate people, btu again no proof so peopel gravitate towards the one who starts false rumors (For their credit they eventually apologized and said they were in the wrong)
And this was just in PSO2! And people wonder why I hate guilds/teams/alliances whatever you want to call them. I do not try to start drama but when my very character is attacked, I have to defend myself from such idiocy. I have no desire to continue to experience this shit in any more games. In addition, since I am the only common element in all this, it must be my fault, right? So just to shut people up, I keep away from guilds as well because maybe it is me.
My BFF has told me the FFXIV community was nice, they are great and stuff, it was another reason why I decided to start playing. But you know what? I haven't seen it. And I'm gonna have a long talk with my BFF when I see him again because I feel that he lied to me about this game. :/
I just want to cry. I'm not trying to be rude. I hear their advice, but it's not advice I can take. And when it feels people are trivializing or patronizing me I get pissed because they have no clue. All I want to do is play the fucking game and experience the story and side stories. That's all. Is that so much to ask for?
Not quite sure why I'm still here, but since I was genuinely trying to be helpful at first, I feel like it might be worth mentioning to people still wanting to clear this content: the cutscenes for this can get veryyyy long. A lot of people just trying to do it for Wondrous Tails won't be super motivated to jump into a new person bonus PF for it because they might be nervous about being trapped waiting around for upwards of 15 minutes for some of the coils while new players watch cutscenes. If you're going from Coils 1-13, it could take several hours of people's time, most of which will be spent standing around doing nothing for those who have already cleared it, so of course people factor that in when deciding whether they really want to commit to taking new people through the coils.
For anyone who is still a new player with a sprout symbol, I would recommend jumping into Novice Network chat and seeing if any of the mentors there will be willing to take you through or could grab any of their FC mates to get you the clears. Otherwise, you could try shouting in major towns (Limsa always seems to be a good choice or Idyllshire or Kugane if you've reached that far) and asking if anyone is bored enough to take you through. Or, if no one is bored, people may know of linkshells or groups on your server that specifically work to clear new players through older content. Asking if anyone can connect you to other resources is a good start at least.
But at the end of the day, there's no substitute for an FC, as (good) FCs will actively work to help their new members get through the old content of the game and make it up to the newest stuff. For anyone who is in an FC right now with people who are capable of taking you through Coil but are refusing to do so... yeah, I'd consider finding a new FC.
As for not being in an FC...
If this is your standpoint and you don't want to be in a guild long-term, that's fine. But you do have to be aware that it's going to make it much harder for you to find people to group up with, and you'll have to adjust your expectations accordingly. And I mean, it's not classy, but there's nothing stopping you from joining an FC, asking for their help, and then just quietly leaving down the road. Not saying I advocate this, but unless you buy a room in their FC house or contribute to the guild funds, there's no punishment for leaving an FC at any time.
Turn 8 should be doable if you skip missiles.
Turn 9 requires 3, there are 3 golema that spawn, and they merge if theu get too close, and you cant kill them once that happens. T10 can probably be duod, t11 maybe, t12 and 13 would be doable but difficult, dps would need to be good
You're on Lamia, right?
Are you going to be using party finder? because a good sized party now should be able to take you on a whirlwind tour even at 60.
Keep trying, you will get people interested to take that new person bonus.
Duoed t5 the other week just for a WT sticker. The dreadknight already died in two spells. One from the RDM and one from me on AST. It is already not a problem. The only problem I would see if there are attacks that insta kill you if say you don't get released from a trap or something that will always hit you. But even Titan's stone jails don't insta kill you anymore. i am still trying to find people to do coil 2 and final so yeah i dont know those. but t5 is at least duoable if not soloable by RDM.
Maybe you should wait with that and take a step back to ask yourself why you might not have seen it - I dont want to be rude and I certainly dont want to encourage your self-destructive view of "I'm the problem", but all of this seems pretty much like a self-fullfilling prophecy to me. You're going in with the expectation that guilds and socialising will suck - so you either avoid it (and get frustrated because you cant get things done on your own, because the game just isnt build for that - surprise!) or your inteaction actually sucks because thats what you expect.
If you isolate yourself from the community, what do you expect? We're not NPCs that you summon into your party and get rid off as soon as your done with your stuff. Networking is actually important - and in my experience there are a lot of great people playing this game to network with! So I'm wondering a little what your expectations were here...?
I do have sympathy for your situation - I've had struggles with some people in the game too, lots of drama happend and I understand the desire just not to be part of such things anymore. At the end of the day thats not going to help you though - neither in the game nor in general. Running away from problems and just ignoring them isnt a fix, at least not in my humble opinion.
If its so frustrating for you that you cant do everything in this game by yourself you might just be better off playing a solo-game.
Because currently you are not able to solo any of the coils. I havent tried all of them yet but to echo a bit what was said before you'll need:
- level 70 on your character
- current endgame-gear, aka an ilvl of 300 or higher
- knowledge of the fight - when you're alone, you'll HAVE to do certain mechanics and know what to do in certain situations. Being level 70 wont turn those bosses into dummies - you'll need practice and skill to know how to handle those fights.
So yeah... maybe ask your friend to suggest some solo-games instead - but dont blame an actual nice community (again: my experience) for bad experiences you had in the past and for your problems. If you dont want to be part of any sort of "team" in an MMO, maybe an MMO isnt for you at the end of the day.
Do three golems even spawn if you go with fewer than three players? The markers for the golem meteors all appear at the same time and dictate where the golem meteors will drop. If there aren't three players to mark, what even happens there? Someone should try, for science. XD
I did this earlier with my bf. Three golems still spawn with two players, the third target is over Nael. He had to kill his golem then pull the second one off me as it was on its way towards me, as I killed and fed the third golem. It was tricky but we managed it.
Maybe with a healer you can? Idk but some fights might be lengthy
For reference, me and my BFF duo'd 1-6. 7? The one with the 3 meteors? We could only duo the first phase. The second phase required a third person at the least. I was lucky that 5 other people joined for 9-13. Unsync'd by the way.
Even unsync'd, 13 took forever. Bosses still had a ton of HP.
Weird. I've been partying up (via PF) for everything up to t9 so far with no problem. Was a party just last week that wanted to run all of t1-t5 synced together, and I think it was my own PF that got enough people for t7-t9, and then another PF looking to clear t9 shortly after I got my clear.
Maybe it's just a data center difference, but I haven't had any trouble making progress so far. And all of this has been after SB launch, when I didn't expect anybody to want to run this. (thankfully got my Crystal Tower clears in beforehand, so dunno if that's still being run)
I'm a lorehound/story freak as well, so as one story hound to another, I actually do implore you to NOT do things in 'chronological' order. As for one, Coil and Crystal Tower are 'gaiden/optional' stories. So really they are not part of the main quest line. I would actually suggest to focus on the MSQ for now.
I actually watched all of the Labyrinth of the Ancients cutscenes on youtube because I knew I would not be able to get a full alliance to go with me (well, more like I did not feel like waiting for a whole hour for the DF to pop.)
