New SAM questions

Hi guys I just hit my SAM to level 70 and I read a bit of some rotations but still I would like to make some questions to everyone.

1) Is Seigan woth using? Feels like it takes to much preparation for something a little more powerfull kenki/dmg than Shinten

2) Higanbana dot is buffed by Kaiten? Normal Higanbana is 940 dmg so with Kaiten it is 1410?? Or only the first hit is the one affected by Kaiten?

3) Was it better to do, use Midare or save those sen points on Shinten? Kaiten Midare is 13,5 kenki/dmg while Shinten is 12, but Shinten beinf OCD theres people saying its better.

4) Hagakure, when/how to use it? Only with my 3 sens? ASAP?

Any other info for a new SAM you could give, much appreciate.

1) Seigan is a nice thing to use. Its low Kenki cost makes it efficient to use sub-30 Kenki, it just means you need to get good with Third Eye usage.
2) Kaiten does seem to buff Higanbana's dot.
3) The best way I found to balance Kaiten Midare and Shinten is to carefully monitor your Kenki. You always want to Kaiten Midare, but you should also pepper in Shintens if you can. Best way to gauge if you can do both is making sure you always have at least 20 Kenki in the pool, for Kaiten. When you hit 45 Kenki, pop a Shinten unless Gurren is coming off of cooldown.
4) This is a source of argument for the community, I've seen. Many people will tell you to only use it when you have 3 Sens, others say whenever it's off of cooldown. What I believe? Use it when it would be most useful for you personally.

I don't have my SAM to 70 yet. (Been playing ninja) From what I've read, kaiten does buff the dot damage of higanbana. As for hagakure... I hear it's pretty much used whenever it is up so long as you have 3 Sen and can gain the full amount of kenki from it.

1. Seigan is your most kenki efficient skill however that doesn't mean you should go hunt for uses (don't purposely stand in aoe)
2. kaiten definitely buffs dot always kaiten higanbana
3. the use of midare at 70 is the lowest priority with 3 sen however if youre going to midare kaiten it
4. the two most used openers right now differ with their hagakure usage however once you've moved past the opener and into your rotation youll find haga coming up at 3 sen if not close, 3 sen haga is a gain since it allows for a gcd plus shinten

other people answered pretty well for 1-3.

As for Hagakure, I make it a habit to use It whenever possible but never when I have only 1 sen. 2 or more sen I pop it right away. If I have 3 sen I use it right before finishing the final hit in a combo.

well shinten is only better if you crit 2 time on the 3.... if not a crit midare is far more efficient. depending of your direct hit, your midare (kaiten) hit between 16-18k when shinten hit around 5-7k on the paper is better, but...you need to get the direct hit on 3 attack. then *shrugs* both are working.
plus if shinten was this strong, it will be a nerfed already.

You also have to take into consideration the fact that sinten is a skill, not a GCD, so you can weave in one more GCDs and gain more kenki. Imo, it's always a gain to use hakagure when you have 3 sen.

Midare cost 60 kenki plus 20 of kaiten plus 5 of the losing hit u would being doing if u use shiten instead (OCD)
And the dmg is 720*1,5 of kaiten = 1080 (also que should be resting something here because u are losing 1 hit u would be doing if u used shinten instead, and im not even counting basic attack) lets say that hit is 150 (the most basic attack a SAM have).

So the formula for Midare dmg/kenki would be (1080-150)/(60+20+5) = 10,9
Shinten dmg/kenki would be 300/25 = 12

So it looks like Shinten is more effective than Kaiten Midare.


The most productive skills I have taken are:

Guren 16
Kaiten Higanbana 14,8 (same formula as Kaiten Midare)
Seigan 13,3
Shintan 12
Kaiten Midare 10,9


If im doing something wrong please someone correct me, im just trying to figure out SAM prioritization

Where are you getting Midare costing 60 kenki? It costs absolutely no Kenki to cast.

Midare cost 3 Sen (Getsu Ka Tensu), using Hagakure (or w/e is the name) transforms that on 60 kenki.

Ah, yes... I realized that afterward. Hagakure is on a 40 second cool down and it's often used to reset Sen when when mechanics mess up your buffs, so it won't always be available.

If Hagakure is up and you use it on 3 sen, it's a slight damage buff. If it's on cool down, Midare wins by a long shot.

Hagakure vs Midare should be looked at as an opportunity cost/gain in a situation where you have 3 sen + haga available if you are able to dump all sen generated into shinten plus gain a GCD the gains will be greater then using the 3 sen to midare and using haga on anything less then 3 sen or putting it off until next available 3 sen (8gcds later)
