If you really wanted it you would have it equipped... >.>
Jk that sucks
I was on a DoL class at the time, must have mistaken it for something else ><
Yeah buyback functions should definitely be added.
Contacted GM, got automated message saying there's nothing they can do.
Spoke to someone on live chat, they told me to ask to speak to a GM directly and inquire about an item restoration.
Sent another GM call, and got the same exact automated reply again, even after asking to speak to someone directly.
Replied to the latest GM reply, and currently waiting to hear from them again.
WTF is it that GMs do in this game??? Am I totally stuck now? I'm so mad. At first it was just at myself for making a careless mistake, but now I'm also pissed at this poor excuse for customer service. Isn't this part of the reason payments are starting in January?
Any rep can help me out with this? I'd like a real response regarding my issue, not some copy & pasted generic response (which is always the same, no matter what you call a GM for).
And same exact response a third time...
And this is why Auto sort is a good thing... all the crappy stuff is at the bottom :D
omg... I'm so sorry Meowie /comfort.
There's nothing I can really say. :/
I really think there's nothing that can be done.
Well, I do have auto-sort on.
What happened was, just recently, I did the "quest" to get the Peregrine Helm. Peregrine Helm and Paragon's Crown are very similar in text and they're both blue in color (hell, I even misspelt the title of this thread with Helm instead of Crown lol..)
After a short gathering session I went to npc junk items and thought it was the Peregrine Helm in my inventory. Thinking I forgot to get rid of it earlier, I NPC'd it. And well, the rest is history.
Also, lol at the last GM response. I responded to the last GM message with "Thanks, for nothing" and this time they sent me a different automated message directing me here. I really miss being able to actually TALK to someone when encountering a problem..
Here? As in the General Forums? Seriously?
Just forums in general, but not necessarily general discussion lol.
Hopefully one of the forum reps can help me out, at least they do their jobs. Even if it's a possible future patch to recover from a situation like this, like speaking to the NPC again or something to retrieve the item.
I wouldn't be so upset if the item wasn't irreplaceable like a Mog weapon or something.
I've heard the customer support for this game is pretty crappy. Another person from my server (PrincessGaga I think) was having problems with being stuck at Ifrit (or crashing at Ifrit?) and he/she too was being bounced between live support and automated GM responses.
They seriously need to beef up the customer service quality. I've yet to see a GM appear for any sort of call made by people I've talked to. Just automated responses left and right.
By the way - how did you get to live chat support?
I'd be surprised if they did anything about it. IF they did they'd have to recover everyone's acci-NPC'ed items.
Lodestone > Support Center > Contact
Well, the representative I spoke to in live chat told me they can do an item restore if I asked a GM. But that's clearly not the case.
For items that can not be replaced by normal means (eg: repeating a quest or killing an NM again) I think item restore is fair in circumstances such as this. Hell, they can have the 1 gil back if they really want it lol ><
There should at least be a confirmation for items you have worn (that's how it's done in some other games). Or an option to mark them as "Don't show in sale" in the context menu. I don't even want to remember what expensive stuff I accidently NPCed :(
Sorry for your lose, but you made the mistake, there is no need to harass the GMs about it, phone support is not for this kind of issue nether, they told you to talk to a GM, because it is an in game issue, they honestly should have not promised they would do a item restore. As on the GM side, they do it for one, and they will have to do it for every person that sells something by mistake. I do agree though that a confirmation or a buy back would be nice.
If it was any other type of item I would agree with you. In FFXI you are able to restore lost items, but only once. SE owns both games, their customer service should be the same.
I've dropped expensive items in XI by mistake before (Unsho @20m for example) and, while I was upset, I didn't call a GM to have it restored. I could always do the fight again to get another one or just buy another one. But in this case, I can never get the Paragon's Crown back since it's a one time reward. And it'll likely be BiS for a while, even after the cap is raised.
If they can't do an item restore, then I would suggest a tweak to the achievement system to allow players to re-obtain lost achievement rewards.
Yea, it was my mistake and I know that. But the only chance I will ever have of getting it back is to be persistent about it. Would you not do the same if it happened to you?
This makes me think of a post I had somewhere. Where we could do past events by using our "echo" ability in case someone missed a holiday event or live event. :( I think it's a good unharmful idea
I wish you luck... *throws a lucky puk wing*
But that's precisely my point tho. If you get your item restored they would have to answer to all the people that didn't get theirs... (because I'm sure you're not alone.) If they had a universal system, like you described, sure. But they don't and I don't see any indication that they were going to get one.
But I hope you get your crown back. :'( Just cause.
Wow, I'm so sorry to hear this :( Best of luck
GM's used to say the same thing in FF11, they are useless in both games.
As someone abvoe said they need to provide a buy back function or allow us to get the item again from the NPC.
Hope you get it sorted.
lol this is why i tryed to bring this up with my post

Last month... it is said that Gm don't do anything but yet they have them retarted GM reporters that spawn around, when they coudl be workign as a GM ingame /rant off
good luck i have less and less faith in this company everyday.
I had this exact thing happen several times in Everquest, where the bankers would sweep anything you dropped on the floor immediately into oblivion. Also, if you dropped your connection mid-trade stuff was sometimes lost forever. GMs were no help and I hated it muchly at the time but that's the nature of the beast when it comes to GMs and CS in mmos I believe.
Another words Watch what you drop/trade/sell *Double check* If you need to before hitting the confirm button
You know I am getting tired of people always thinking GMs are their little call bitches....... I had a few friends who where GMs for Ultima Online a good while back, and let me tell you, they had plenty of stuff to do besides come to the beck and call of every little request that comes in.........
GMs should be able to help you with this. Who else is supposed to? Part of their job description is to help players that are stuck.
In this case I'm stuck. I can never obtain this item again without the help of a GM or something similar. I really have no desire of creating a whole new character to get another one.
Agreed. I feel bad for the OP, because that situation sux--all the more because it was a simple mistake.
Blaming it on the game or on GMs, though... it's like leaving your wallet at a restuarant and then getting mad at the restaurant's owners when you come back and your money is gone. It sux, yeah, but it's your mistake. Own it.
It was a mistake. It could happen to anyone, even you.
At the very least, they can make the items re-obtainable by speaking to the NPC again, since there is no other way of getting the item back. I really wouldn't care if it was an item that I could make / obtain again through normal means.
I'm not religious but I pray to every God in the universe that you never get a job with even the slightest level of authority.
What's wrong with some people on these forums, has life been unfair to you?* A buy-back feature is an awesome idea and I see absolutely no logical reason whatsoever why you would argue against it being implented.
Also to stay on topic; Meowy I sincerely hope they help you get that Crown (:P) back, if only out of decency.
* I'm not interested in an answer.
Sad to see GM arnt doing what they should be doing. And for the ppl that say oh gms job isnt that, then why when he called SE they told them in game GM will help them.
They can restore items. I had a +2 body that I sold like a year ago by accident, cant remember the name of it but after contacting gm I got it back within a few hours. Just keep trying, they can definitely do it, then again maybe they just became lazy over the months.
Is there anyone arguing against it being implemented? I, for one, think a buy-back feature is a grand idea! And I don't see anyone saying otherwise.
Most of the debate has been about what GMs are responsible for relative to CS--specifically, are they responsible for reversing player mistakes?
If they actually DO reverse player mistakes in FFXIV, that's wonderful from where I stand. :) That involves a lot of work (and therefore money), though, which is why I imagine the process isn't easy.
If people are telling you that GMs can help with this and someone has gotten an item back than absolutely keep trying and don't give up!
*bump*
When next trying to poke the GM, make it clear that you were informed by CS that a GM would be able to do an Item restore for you.
Hopefully the contradiction in policy will get their attention.
/cheer
just /sh in uldah swearing or being a racist somone will report you an will have your own private audiance with a GM very quickly then tell them your issue and that you have been bounce from pillar to post about this and you had to resort to such a drastic measure to actually get to talk to a gm..... granted thats a sure fire way to get a acount infringement but seriously they can make time for that but not even make time for talking to somone in a /tell
;) meh the menu based confirmation are your sure you want to get rid of "XXX" item click yes... ARE YOU REALLY SURE!!!!! click yes would be a small but useful thing for HQ/Green/Blue items
