I kinda missed questing there, but i've done everything to do in that area. Can we pleeease get more sub-quests in Azim Steppe in the future? I get some nostalgic vibes while questing there, and I need more reasons to go back there.

It seems like far too big a zone not to cram more content in. My guess is either more content involving the tribes or something involving that cave in the north.
As the homeland of my people i feel a weird patriotic attachment to the steppe, the more content for it the merrier i say
I haven't really touched the side quests there yet because I was trying to get through as much of the MSQ as I could before leaving on my trip, but you can bet that I'll be binging the ever-loving crap out of them when I get back. The number of Xaela tribes that have yet to be seen and/or properly represented just scream the necessity for more content there.
there are zones that arent touched like those caves on the north side of the map , i guess a tribe quest is coming , but im afraid the 1 tribe is going to be on ruby sea , the ray mount as reward :P
Azim Steppe music is terrible, except for the piano version that plays during the nighttime, that one's pretty good, in fact most of the piano music in this expansion was awesome as well as the eastern music, but that repetitive Steppe track really gets to me. it's the same "YAAAAAAAAAH" etc vocalizations
I liked the Azim Steppe the most, good zone music, likeable characters and alot of Xaela lore. The most epic part of Stormblood is the Naadam.
Out of all the zones in FFXIV, this one felt the most immersive, I reckon Role Players must have loved this zone.
This is by far my favorite zone in the expansion (possibly the entire game). A combination of the aesthetics, the lore of the Xaela tribes, and the music, just comes together to make it awesome. I really enjoyed the MSQ portion there, and miss it even now that I've moved on past that point.
I hope they do add more content there, and will be going through the side quests shortly on another job. It just screams daily quest area where we help one (or more) Xaela tribes instead of an actual "beast tribe". C'mon SE, you can do it!
I've already finished all side quests in stormblood area.
And I don't miss them except that one with princess lesbian in Ruby Sea.
Azim Steppe is my favourite place to do fates and one of my fav places in general for SB
I LOVE Azim Steppe sooooo much. anytime im going to AFK or just chill I teleport there and enjoy the music and everything about it. Hopefully we get like a beast tribe or something that makes me go back there.
I've taken my sweet time in this zone. It's absolutely beautiful and the last kind of area I was expecting in Stormblood. I did a few of the sidequests there and they are amazing.
I've been here for like the past five days on the account of doing other things in game but I've been in no hurry to move on from the area. I've also greatly enjoyed some of the Main Story conversations here. Both the lighthearted stuff and the serious talks.
I'd honestly like to see more tribal events and things happening in this zone completely unrelated to fates. It's my most favorite zone geographically and culturally. Kudos to whoever designed this zone.
I adore the sheer variety of cultures between the different tribes that populate the Steppe. And we've only seen a small fraction of them! I do hope that SE both explores more of the tribes, and fleshes out the ones we've already got. They're absolutely fascinating.
The culture of the Dotharl in particular, with their firm belief in reincarnation and the practices around it. I find myself with many questions and curiosities about the functionality of their faith, and would be ever so eager to learn more.
I kinda like the area. It reminded me of Gran Pulse/Calm Lands.
I was sad in HW not see au ras much.
When in SB made me so happy. Hope more quests from au ras
While I'm wholly indifferent towards Au Ra in general, I did enjoy the zone itself, mostly the theme. I wouldn't particularly object to a reason to go back,
The only thing that's annoyed me about the Azim Steppe...
is that I accidentally found the Mol character really fast and didn't get to hear all the other NPCs tell me about their tribe. T_T
I love the Dothraki people in the steppe. I wouldn't mind going back there just for the music alone.
I'm just finishing up this zone and its my favorite thus far by a mile. The lore is great, the music is stunning, and its a landscape we haven't seen before in FFXIV thus far. I'm holding out hope that since the Xaela are all avid and dedicated horsemen, we might get some quests one day to earn a 'regular' horse of our own like the models you see roaming around the camps.
Rather than inventing a random Beast Tribe, what they should do is create something similar to the beast tribe, but unique to the Steppe. Have some new content that lets us associate with any tribe we wish, and help out that tribe. Similar to the Grand Companies, but better. And with a lot more lore involved. Have unique rewards for each tribe, just like the beast tribes though.
If we don't go back there for another part of the MSQ or SOMETHING, I will be sorely disappointed. This area NEEDS to be expanded upon further, I would even like to see the other regions of the Steppe added. (It was stated that that was but one small part of the Steppe, and there are tribes that reside in the desert-like regions and mountains you can see from certain parts of it.) That said, I don't see them adding additional areas/maps in the middle of an expansion... but that would be super awesome.
Part of me says we have one near guarantee that we WILL be going back there and the tribes (at least the Oronir and Dotharl) WILL be playing some sort of significant role in some way: SE paid to have Magnai and Sadu voice acted. :P Maybe it's just me, but if they were only going to be significant characters during that one part of the MSQ and never again, I couldn't see SE hiring voice actors for them.
Also, 1000% on board with the idea of doing Xaela tribe quests instead of beast tribes. This should totally be a thing.
And epic (albeit kinda crazy) idea/reason for us to possibly have to go back:
The Oronir and Dotharl hate each other and both have pretty strong religious beliefs. One worships the sun deity where the other, like many of the other Xaela tribes and as is referenced in side questing, likely primarily pays reverence to the moon deity.
...Primal vs. primal anyone? >:'D
I agree with this. There's too much space here and not enough stuff to do in it.
The Azim Steppe is one of my favorite areas in Stormblood, partly because of how much it reminds me of the Calm Lands from FFX, both in appearance and atmosphere.
They made me feel like an outsider except that one Mol girl.
Reminder that the Dotharl murdered an entire tribe (RIP Hotgo). Mide and her fellow explorers, who possessed the Enigma Codex and summoned the primal Alexander and served as the catalyst for the entire Alexander chain were Hotgo. They could have summoned Alexander out of desperation after the Dotharl murdered their friends and family.
The Xaela/Raen history's gotten murky with SB. The Oronir insist that the two tribes made peace, suggesting that the Raen left of their own accord, while the Sui-no-Sato Raen(who I wish had more development) insist that they were driven from the Steppes. That, the House of the Crooked Coin, and all the ruins from whatever organized civilization the Xaela used to have make me want more out of the zone. Square pls.
Lets be honest, all WoL were born Qestir and thus want to go home sometimes. Yes, that includes the non-Xaela. They are also Qestir.
I'd like to hope we'll return there for something MSQ related and not just for a single quest that leads to a new dungeon there.
The Azim Steppe section was my favorite part in the main story. I loved the area, the music, the lore and the characters. Was really sad when I had to leave and go back to Doma.
I actually found that they were overall one of the more accepting groups we've met. Ishgard wanted nothing to do with us at first, and we as foreigners only have access to a small part of Hingashi (if that's what it's called) through Kugane because they don't want outsiders in their other cities. The Raen of the Ruby Sea also don't want much to do with us. Domans were so beaten down by Garlean oppression that they were scared of us.
Meanwhile, the Xaela were totally cool with us participating in a tribal tradition that essentially dictates who rules over them. All we had to do was prove ourselves. I wasn't playing an Au Ra character at the time, so I was just really surprised at how chill they were with sharing their culture and traditions with my character. They were also agreeable about us asking them to help in our battle (which I'd felt was wrong of Hien to ask of them considering they had no involvement with the whole situation until that point).
I think I might be the only person who didn't like the Steppes. Feels lonely. I didn't -dislike- the steppes, but it never came across as particularly good to me.
We probably will. If we end up journeying to Garlemald, going from the Steppes is the most logical route.
One will note that there's two caves leading out of the Steppes that are gated off, in exactly the same way that SB areas were sealed until you progressed through the story. The areas beyond look more dangerous than a conventional route though, one route going through what appears to be a massive remote mountain range, the other going through a high snow-capped mountain. Chances are we'll be asking the locals for help.
I actually liked the zone but it felt a bit weird doing Xaela traditions as a Raen.
