A Reiteration of a Previous Idea Regarding Wings as a "Mount"

I have been thinking back on this idea which i believe has first been brought up around the time of heavenswards release (Of course) but i would like to recount the playerbase's thoughts on Wings, specifically wings that act as a mount that the players can fly with or "Hover" on the ground with. I Originally back in the heavensward days thought it may be too tacky but if they were implemented say like the wings on Kuribu, which look lovely in both well, appearance and positioning it could work out.

I say i would like square to implement them. Maybe make Kuribu's wings a future drop from POTD or a "primal mount" in the next expansion with their own series. What Do you think?

At this point we having players riding around on everything from giant, glowing, glittering faberge eggs, to ostriges in maid costumes, to Yo-Kai Watch carnival rides.

Wings are fine.

I don't like wings it reminds me of these cheap f2p games that you find everywhere. However if you make them as a mount, I don't mind, just don't make them some weird shoulder/chest piece glamour attachment, and I would rather see actual creative and good looking wings, not this kind of angel/demon non sense.

Another game did this already. They had Cherub wings (small wings) and Angel/Devil wings which were the large feather/leather kind. If you triggered the effect you simply floated without walking on air, you didn't fly. Given, once you let players fly without an actual mount, things get silly really fast.

If they put them in the game, that is another entire set of animations like the swimming ones. As much as i like the concept of this, I don't think it's something that should exist because there isn't a lore reason for it. Why would you ever have an airship if you can just slap on some wings.

Please no....if I wanted to play a tacky looking P2W Korean grinder I'd go play a tacky looking P2W Korean grinder.

Point being most mount's are not lore connected. They're fun, we live in a world with flying horses, and obese chocobo's that can fly merely motivated by cake.

I don't see how a new mount would make this game 1) P2W, 2) Korean or 3) a grinder. Tacky is subjective and you don't have to wear or use anything you personally find tacky.

They could always be attached to an achievement like the hunt for the tiger. That way they could exist and not have the game look like a "Tack p2w Korean Grinder"

Those are simply choices of things you can sit and relax on while it takes you somewhere. Canonically, none of our mounts exist except the Chocobo, Magitek Armor and the Mana cutter. But there are lore reasons for other mounts like the Unicorn existing though side quests.

That said, I'm not opposed to this thing, I'm just not seeing a lore reason for player characters to be able to acquire and fly/hover like birds or more like wearing a jet pack. I could see a Cid's Ironworks coming up with a personal "jetpack" type of thing, though I'd imagine it would probably be a reward to a (PvP?) aerial dogfight game than any special event reward.

Those mounts pretty much only technically exist though, after the initial novelty wears off they basically disappear in my experience. At the end of the day they're dumb joke mounts, people for the most part prefer things that look cool.

A lot of people think wings look cool, they would end up being a lot more visible than some silly spinning tortoise.

It also reminds me on these cheap P2W ugly games.

Wouldn't it be a little "cringy" anyways?

Not against it, as long as it's added in game and not via kupo shop
