Didn't really see any threads on this, and figure this deserves both recognition and encouragement. Everyone is so busy discussing clears, tactics, and loot, that it seems like the actual fight itself has taken a step to the side.
Is it just me, or did Yoshi-P and the team do an amazing job with the Moogle fight? Ifrit was great, but there were a few factors that could make it annoying for certain players (slower internet connnections, computers, etc) and the fight itself was brought down to a science in a matter of days.
Good King Moggle Mog on the other hand seems like a completely spontaneous fight. No one fight will ever be the same, and that really shows. It breaks up the monotony of standing in the same spots and moving to the same locations every single fight. Plus the fight doesn't have much as far as insta-kill abilities goes, yet still remains quite difficult. It's simply genuinely difficult (At least I think so), rather than gimmicky - like the Ifrit fight was.
Wiping on Ifrit usually made me frustrated. Yet wiping on Moggle Mog didn't even phase me, as I was enjoying myself far to much to care.
And to top it all off, the aesthetic and characters of the fight itself was done incredibly well. It felt incredibly engaging as the key in music changed when certain Moogles spawned, or when the tempo began to increase as the summoning ritual grew closer and closer. I couldn't even wipe the big dorky smirk off my face when they started singing. That was incredibly unexpected, and an awesome little detail. Incredibly memorable.
I think this really set the bar, and I hope SE can either meet or exceed this fight as we get closer and closer to FFXIV 2.0.

yeah, the wipe and raise hate reset exploit is nice. the fight is ok, but it is way too slow paced early on for my tastes. i play as mage primarily and hate seeing the changes that have been being made to them.
the combo's are very nice when i played as dd, but the mage combo's are really bad. the dd starts a combo and can continue the combo throughout without any extra tp costs, but a thm for example casting the combo's will spend close to 1500mp because each spell gets charged. this leads to one burst combo then standing around and waiting for quite a while doing absolutely nothing.
personally i much preferred the ifrit battle. as a mage i had plenty of abilities i could be casting to make me more involved in the battle. now it's more standing and waiting than it is actively participating in the fight.
i'm not saying the moogle battle itself is bad, but that it is much more fun to play it as a dd than as a mage. dd's took major steps forwards in this patch, but i really feel playing as a mage has taken multiple steps backwards. -

There was the prince, laying dead on the ground. If he had not slept under that tree, he might have had his shining armor and mighty sword Ragnarok and the prince would have been no match for the villain, but alas it was not his fate.
If you think this story has nothing to do with this thread, you're wrong. Think about it a little longer. -

moogle fight is well-designed aside from the exploit. reminds me a bit of Faction Champions fight from WoW, which was really the only fun fight from TotC (incoming "amagad this game is becoming WoW" QQ). and i agree on all the points about the fight being different every time, and not as gimmicky. it's honestly really enjoyable.
if only they could fix the exploit AND do something about farming the keystones. SO annoying, and a completely unnecessary step to repeat every time given the low drop rate of weapons and lol20lol kupo charms needed to pick your own weapon. -

this cannot be counter argued. Mages should not be designed to just stand around in fights. wtf is SE thinking?
"so then manage your MP better" Managing your MP currently entails standing around because, while in a party, your ONLY MP regen option is a 90 second recast buff.
using your weaker spells doesnt do much damage and doesnt match their MP cost. and as stated above, combos are extremely expensive.
ALL DPS classes should be able to keep relatively keep up with eachother in speed of service. -

Once everyone starts using a formula and beating it constanly you will be all be pissed with the fight lol. Ifrit was great till everyone figured out it was easy.
With that said, both fights are going in the right direction IMO. -

The Moogle fight is fun. The NM's you have to do after every win are ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!
Inb4 It only takes 15-20 minutes (Sometimes true but usually ends up 40 min's or so)

Every BCNM in XI reset the monsters if you died while someone had raise. Everyone of them. No butthurt here. Haven't tried it. Probably won't.
I also want to thank them as well, really this is the best thing that's happened to the game. Also I like the MP abilities for thm/cnj.
Soloing toads I can get a triple combo off, 4200 total damage and still only spend 600mp :) (with mpregen while casting) :) -

I also want to thanks yoshi p and his crew for the work, you guys at sE need a week off, also, they got this patch in on time, they said early december, the 15th is the last day of early december so they outdid themselves. take a week of Yoshi and your Dev team, we can wait 1 week for content.

Moogle fight is great, I'm enjoying this fight much more because you and your party are in control of the way the fight goes.
Ifrit was more based on server lag and chance or being hit by a plume. -

It is amazing and I agree on all points. But does it have anything that happens at the end? I hear it doesn't...and that makes me really sad. Why is every single fight/dungeon devoid of anything happening when you beat it? Its so anti climatic :\ almost soul crushing.

The fight is much more engaging than Ifrit, the "squad" of moogles shows a brilliant focus of creativity, AND THE SONG. OMG THE SONG. Im singin it in my head right now! It has a brilliant balance of classic FF with a contemporary and appropriate twist, and the lyrics are simply brilliant.
This fight is a very promising show of talent from the FFXIV team. I hope the nay-sayers have stood up and taken notice. If we have more like this to look forward to in the future, then the future cannot come fast enough!
