Personally, I find it awesome, no need to rush to get dailies done, I can grind at my own pace.
I hope it never comes back.

sorry to burst your bubble but its not been removed. this same thing happened in heaven's ward. Once they introduce the next tomestone that's when we're back to having a cap.
I wish they did remove it though. But then people would gear up and stop playing.
They want people to take their time and enjoy the main story quest which is why they don't add the capped tomestones until several weeks after the release of an expansion, but I'm pretty sure this will always be a staple for gear progression.
Grinding these tomes is incredibly pointless when they will be locked again soon. Welcome back to 3.0!
Yeah, the real scrip/tome grind is coming.
Don't worry. You cannot escape.
Use this time to level everything up, i.e. once you get 70 on a job, put on the free AF set, then switch to the next job. When the new weeklies come in, that's when the real grind begins. Maybe load your main up with the current stuff at most, but don't waste your time grinding. Save your sanity for later. You will need it.
Yup. enjoy waiting months to gear up your jobs, again! I think they need to make it cap per job to be honest so we can play more than once or so a week.
it's a ploy to get your sub money basically.
At least there will be no capped script. Yellow script will be the highest until 5.0
Not quite sure how you didn't know this already tbh.Quote:

There has always been a capped and uncapped set of tomes, going all the way back to 2.0's launch.
Someone is experiencing her first expansion on FFXIV
well one can dream, as stated though the real grind is coming, and so are the capped tomes. Only hope they up the weekly cap to something reasonable, be ok with 900, but I know better
now with 2 more jobs to gear up, a dow/dom cap or something would be nice, Hell a Roles cap would be great too. Your only salvation will be raiding Savage
It's a shame SE is so dead set in their ways and unwilling to change up the formula even slightly.
It's the exact same gearing formula that ARR and HW had. It's getting stale.
Somebody didn't read patch notes~
I also didn't recall uncapped times at HW launch, but I've been bored with gearing for quite awhile and take many, many breaks. I've made several posts about this, but the awful tomes cap/gear lockout is one of the main reasons why I can't enjoy myself long-term.
It's been refreshing to have no cap, and I'm bummed to see it will be coming back. And no, I haven't already rushed to gear all of my jobs. Just s stating as many people think anyone in favor of removing the caps will just rush all gear and then be bored. :x
Rather than a weekly cap...
I'd like to see a progressive cap.
It will increase each week at the same rate that it would normally be capped at for a total amount earned...
Say, it's capped at 500 a week on a weekly cap...
A progressive cap would be max 500 for week 1, max 1000 for week 2, max 1500 for week 3 etc...
So a person starting at week 1 and going through week 4 would have a total amount of 2k they could have earned.
While someone who's starting fresh at week 4 has the same 2k total that can be earned.
Keeps the gear locked to whatever speed the devs want, but allows people to catch up if they didn't get in on it during the first week.
I'll never understand this cap nonsense. FF14 is all about playing different jobs, yet you cannot gear up your other jobs properly before you reach the extension's end cycle. What's the point? Why cannot we enjoy gearing all our jobs at the same time if that's how we wanna play?
I always end up canceling my sub after 1-2 months and then come back every 6 months, and the fact that I cannot gear my alts plays a huge role in this.
I've got a dps/tank weekly tomes really screws that up. If people could have a cap per job it would be a massive improvement but they don't want to change it.
I don't think I have ever managed to reach the weekly cap, so for me it is just business as usual right now.
for people bouncing around the figure of 900 tome limit are going to get quite shocked when they see the limit being 450 tomes per week which is what it was thoughout HW
