Anyway to fix so can only have FC house + own houser per account?

I noticed out there in the net, that there is people buying up housing plots en mass all over meaning up to 10 houses per account on same server kind of issues.

I wonder if this should be discussed, or done something about.

None offense meant really, but I think there should be something done about and should be a fair play ground for all, 1 FC = 1 FC House + 1 private at max and nothing else on same account.

Just think it is a loophole that should be looked into.

First off a little disclaimer from my side: I dont own a private house (even though I enjoy decorating a lot and had so much fun doing it for our FC-house!), because I always believed FCs and not private people should own houses.

That being said: I still dont agree with "we need to fix this loophole" - for two reasons mainly:

1) It would punish all the people who are owning multiple houses atm. Some of those might be "houseflippers" and you probably dont care about them being punished because you feel they "deserve" it, but some might also be totally legit people owning more than one house for some reason. How do you decide which you're taking away from them? How are they compensated? How does gil compensate for losing a house you put effort in and that you're now losing for no fault of your own, but just because they've changed the rules?

2) I also dont agree with it because those people simply put the effort in to get multiple houses. Its not like those just dropped out of the sky into their possession. They earned the gil to buy the house and they either camped the aethyrt to get a plot when something got demolished or they're playing on a smaller server were lots of housing was available - either way: Getting a house is a huge time-investment. You need the gil, you need to level up a character and/or an FC for it and if you're willing to do that multiple times to get a second or third or fourth house and you're "better" or "quicker" at that as someone else - by my guest, take that house (and invite me over for some cake!), get your reward!
I've followed some of those Mateus-housing-complaint-threads and I really cant feel any sympathy for those people/FCs who werent able to get the needed amount of gil when they've existed for over a year and are now upset because other people bought all the houses.

The playground IS fair for all (unless you want to argue about people having to work and therefor not being able to camp...) - a person who bought a second house had to put even more effort in then that "lazy FC" who wants a house but really cant be bothered to safe up and go looking!

I know that housing shortage is a problem and I know that a lot of those people who dont have houses would be in favour of closing this so called "loophole" - I'm saying "so called" because I'm actually sure the devs are aware of this and probably dont consider it a loophol but instead "If someone wants to go through such length - they can" - because they believe a lot of plots will open up for them.
But heres the thing: Those people, who own the plots now, put effort into earning them. You didnt. And even if they were to open up now you wont get them without the effort they require.
You want to take something away from a person who already did twice as much as you because you feel your deserve it more and thats not fair.
And yes, I know its not fair for newcomers or newly formed FCs either, I get that. I know that the housing-system sucks. I know it would be nice if everyone could have a house, we've heard all that and apparently SE doesnt want to or cant change the system; no need to repeat it, that horse is dead. And I know its a "lie" to say "Anyone can have a house, you just need to try harder!"
But still: this solution is destroying the effort people put into their work, to favour those who couldnt bother til now... so, no, not a solution.

Littel sidenote: I'm on Odin, a fairly large server and I do know a few people who managed to buy houses straight from the server during the past months - you know why they managed that? Because they put the effort in to go looking and earned their gil.

I think it should be one fc + one personal per world, personally, rather than per account.

If they do that then they have to make is all your characters on the world can share the house as equal owners which they cannot do at present.

They need to make it one house per world not per account cause frankly no one need to own 2 or 3 if not more houses on the same world all cause they can more so if their hardly at said house or on said alts want something so bad go get an apartment

I believe the fix is to make an area of instanced housing. Where it generates a plot of land by itself. Make it upgradeable too. Use some lore reason of you're being teleported into a safe area of the Ascian world or something and the Ascian realm is able to bend space like that. That is the only fix in my opinion. Any other fix would just upset a lot of people if you ask me. No neighbours etc, but it would mean housing for all.

If they can't fix housing to auto-generate new wards, letting people buy more than one house is an insanely bad decision. It's one of the ways housing is totally bonkers bad in this game.

This has been discussed to death just about every week/month. It's been brought up in a live letter and they said they didn't want to interfere with roleplaying I believe it was and that because it took some effort to get not only the gil, but the character to the point where they could purchase a house they didn't want to strip that from anyone. What they could do is program in a rule going forward that disallowed the purchase of additional plots for an fc if you already own an fc house or a personal house if you already own a personal on that world. You would however also need to implement something wherein you cannot be granted leadership of fcs (you can start additional fcs, but no ownership changes) if you're in charge of one that owns a house to keep people from purchasing FCs with houses attached on their alts. This sets the rule in place, without punishing those that did not break the rules to begin with.

The worst thing is, every subscriber pays about the same money to SE, but persistent housing costs SE a lot. A very small percentage of players gobble up the housing but they don't pay SE any extra money for it. All the house hoarders are locking most players out of housing AND ripping them off because everyone's sub money is paying for their persistent housing.

I pay SE an extra $1 per month just for an extra retainer and persistent housing uses a gigantic amount of data by comparison so the solution is obvious: persistent housing should have zero in-game cost, but cost an additional real money fee added onto a subscription. You keep it as long as you pay for it. Anything else is asking most players to subsidize the persistent housing that the few get access to.

Instanced housing is much much cheaper for SE so everyone should be able to get that with normal gameplay methods.

Gettin' real tired of this "One per account" biz. I've said it before and I'll say it- begrudgingly, again. The economy on Balmung isn't the same as the one on Lich. Or any other non congested server. It should be 1 per data center.

I greatly support this, but...i know, they wont do anything.

This is a terrible idea. I've seen it in another game. All it does is become a way for players to just play a FFXIV dressed "farmville". Forget ever using the market again for minerals, plants, or fish, just grow your own. Though in this other game, you can't actually go inside the "farmhouse" you can only do stuff with the land. This BTW was an upgrade to the actual "farm plots" they had, because the bots and clever players learned you could just make mountains of money in the game by doing it, and since the farm plots were extremely limited and time-limited everyone just monopolized them any way they could (eg by AFK'ing.)

People forget FFXIV has apartments too.

Not everyone needs a house, and you don't get any communities popping up if you instance absolutely every oversubscribed feature. As it is, if you go around the housing areas, you're lucky to even see maybe 4 people, and that is owing entirely to the fact that the housing areas are also instanced to begin with.

The reason you want instancing for some things is simply to reduce congestion or travel time. One of FFXIV V1.0's worst complaints was the market stalls, where you literately had to go through dozens of identical looking market areas with shoulder-to-shoulder retainers manually looking at each retainer for things. This was horribly tedious. If you had to do the same thing with the housing area, it would again have that problem. People would simply not go through the housing area, they would just teleport to their own house, and that's that. If you instance the housing so that each house+land is it's own instance, (basically apartments with all the features of a house, but no neighbors) there is no point in having a "housing area" at all.

In some respects that creates an even worse problem, where there are all these "walled off" parts of a world that nobody ever sees.

As it is, SE should never have made it possible to "lock the front door" of a house while the owner is offline. Part of the fun of being able to decorate is knowing who stopped by to look at things.

The cost of an apartment in the game is only 40% more than the cost of a room in a FC's house. So the instanced living spaces exist in two forms already. We don't need another one.

The whole housing system is broken. From my point of view, my 2 cents :

1. FC and private houses really need to be separated.

2. Private house could be fairly shared between characters from the same account and server.

3. They will never do such thing, probably, but housing would be more interesting if it be really possible to build house and make it bigger depending of people IG-money. In return, people can only have one house per server, that's the point 2.

The current system is too rigid.

Actually, this instanced housing would be for FCs only. Airships and workshops are locked behind this housing. Apartments and Private Chambers are not a fix for that. Since apartments and private chambers do not give workshops, and this airships. A lot of FCs don't have access to housing, especially on servers like Odin. This needs to be rectified, or should any FC that decides to grow just be SOL because the plots are already taken and they should just join an existing FC instead? For player housing, I agree, apartments and FC chambers are a decent solution, but what about FCs? They have those houses only. And before you say transfer, let's say the FCs do just that, and then all plots on all worlds are taken. What would you suggest then? You're only tackling the individual housing problem, not the FC housing side of it, by suggesting apartments/private chambers.

I support the one per data center per account.

FC's should not count as the FC (and therefore the house) have fluid ownership. I know it can be rigged but that's unavoidable.

As for personals, yes, one per account, per server is enough. And on top of that all your alts on your server should have 100% access to the home.
