nobody really knows right now. for AST it also depends on which stance you'll take. however, you can never go wrong with a bit of Crit.
Personally I went DET and SS for the most part. I've never liked Crit because I prefer reliability. No point getting a crit on 2/8 players with Helios when you'll just need to use Helios again anyways to finish healing the other 6 players. And a healer should never rely on a crit heal to save someone's life either. This is one of the reasons why I feel SCH is such an annoying class. It has a lot of focus on getting crits, despite the fact that healers should never rely on crits. It's not just crits, actually. WHM also has issues because of RNG as a healer. Healers need control over their class' basic functions. A bit of RNG as a bonus (*cough*ASTcards*cough*) is nice, but it should never be mandatory to make the class worthwhile.
The one time I do rely a bit on crits is during large mob pulls, as the odd crit will help to maintain the tank's health when I'm having to spam nothing but Benefic II to keep him/her alive. There's also the crit-oriented Lv68 traits, so I put one or two Crit materia on my gear, but no more than that.
We don't have enough data yet. Crit seems to be favored. Det is usually decent during early patches. I personally like SpS, but I'm WHM so I see a lot of benefit from it across the board, plus our stock gear is really slow. I went SpS, Crit, Det, and have had no issues with Healing or DPS on all the current content.
I'm trying Direct Hit for now. It's more consistent than Crit so my healing/damage feels higher overall while not feeling too RNG constrained.
Direct Hit doesn't apply to healing, sadly.
: (
Well at least I only used the cheap G5 Materia the MSQ gave me.
Good thing it wasn't a complete waste since it increases my DPS. \o/
I yet have to see a heal landing a direct hit. Makes sense since direct hit is the replacement for accuracy. I yet had to see a tank avoiding my heals or me missing with them. ;)
BUT! There's currently some kind of bug which causes the fairy to heal more (about +3000 mind you) when you at least meld +2 direct hit into your gear.
Oh aye ya the Fey Union bug, that's an exception to the rule for now.
But for reference, with 510 DH I'm seeing somewhere in the rough ballpark of a 5-10% direct hit rate with my nukes, but I don't get any DH heals whatsoever. The threshold to get a DH heal could be significantly higher, but I'm working on the assumption that it just doesn't count towards regular heals at all (Union bug aside).
Crit was the highest healing stat for all healers in HW, and determination the worst, but right now we don't know since no one has done the testing. If I had to pick one I'd go with crit.
Me and a fellow FC member were doing some testing. Don't waste materia slots on speed. I had 1480 speed then got rid of my melds to drop it down to about 1200. cast time went from 1.88 to 1.9. so far the best stats are Deter and Crit rate according to our results. So I would say go Deter > Crit rate > Spell Speed
Speed is a percentage, so faster spells will benefit less, yeah. I'm down at 2.34 for my slowest spells. For WHM SpS kinda works since it boosts hps, dps, and hot amplitude. I would not recommend SpS for any of the other healers at all.
And yeah, Crit is safe on every class, at every gear level.
From the patch 4.01 notes in Resolved Issues:
"An issue wherein the scholar action Fey Union would always restore critical HP under certain conditions."
Does this have to do with the DH stat making Fey Union much stronger?
Yes. If they fixed it then expect Fey Union to heal for 30% less per tick if you have direct hit melded somewhere.
Sadface.
In terms of what materia you want, Crit or Det will probably be a safe bet for most healers, but consider VIT for your right side accessories if you intend to hit Omega savage hard. Melding VIT was exceptionally useful for all classes, especially while learning.
You may also consider some Piety pieces on gear that is otherwise capped in your desired stat. Spell speed is an option, but with the job changes it really lost a lot of appeal, and you need quite a lot of it to notice.
I was looking for this ;D
I just hit 70 with my WHM (I choose it as main over AST) and I was wondering which materia meld.
So you guys are saying that for WHM the useful materia would be:
SpS, crit and det?
As said, crit is the safest bet, but no one has the facts.
People didn't use SpS to lower cast times but because it actually boosted your healing power in HW (just not as much as Crit). Determination was the worst stat for all healers in HW, so why would you recommend it now? You said you've done some testing but can you please give the details so others can estimate if it's reliable? :)
couldn't give you a lot of details since I play on PS4, no third party programs to aid said testing. So instead since there like tons of grade 5 out there, we just melded and remelded our gear. We had full Ala Mhigo gear. No primal stuff. arhat ring of healing. I was doing on average about 7800 base cure with crit of about 11,800. after switching melds to mostly determination. around 900 to 1200 (I dont know the exact number) I went up to 8500 to 12400 on cure and its cast time went from 1.88 at 1400 (had some G6 melds) to 1.9 seconds. I don't know why but my fellow FC member has almost the exact same stats but he does slightly more. (I'm Miqo'te and he is Hyur) All in all more testing from the player base is required to ascertain BiS melds. I look forward to continued discussion on this matter. Hope your all having fun healing V3 and V4 :)
PS: I like to change my previous statement to Deter > Crit > Piety (also like to mention til now I've never been really hardcore or did savage content, just get the highest ilevel possible from tomestones was my thing til I finally joined this group of players that make me wanna do this content with and be the best I can possibly be. )
see if this link works so you can look at my character: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...aracter/348658
I dug through the latest stats from Omega normal. A White Mage can now 20% crit with melds. Determination starts at a lower value and scales worse in general, so unless it got a huge boost to its Baseline in this expansion, crit is really the way to go. I love my spell speed, but the math heavily suggests crit again, especially with our level 68 trait.
Honestly, I've been using Determination since HW and apparently Determination did see an increase to how effectively it affects things with the expansion.
In HW, when testing between myself and a WHM friend, in Diurnal stance, when she had about 70 more MND than I did, but I had a couple hundred more DET, my healing (Benefic vs. Cure and Benefic II vs CureII is what we tested with) was actually a bit higher... but we also noticed that the gap between the lowest heal and the highest heal seemed to be larger, too. Whether or not that was working as intended, we don't know. And we haven't looked into that since the expansion either (and it would be hard to make direct comparisons now, to be honest).
Crit would probably have the most meaningful impact on this expansion, considering the way they implemented crits into various kits this time around, but I'm still going to go DET just because I've been doing that the whole time and it doesn't really feel like it makes the biggest difference one way or another.
Crit on gear that can take crit.
Piety on gear that is crit maxed.
Spell Speed on gear that is crit and piety maxed.
Lots of crit, 20k+mp, and cast fast.
