Bard - Troubador's affect needs to affect the bard as well.

The ability troubador is amazing. A flexible damage reduction for the entire raid is nothing short of fantastic. However, the caveat in which it does not also work on the bard who uses it makes it feel kind of stupid. This was fine on moves like Divine Veil because they were on tankier classes. However, Bard is not by any means a tankier class which can afford not receiving the benefit. I can already see the situation now :

Raidwide magic damage is coming out, so the bard uses Wanderer's Minuet's Troubador.
The rest of the party survives, and only the bard dies, because it doesn't work on themself. :confused: Why shouldn't it work on themself?

Can we please make this work on the user?

Yes this is a very important issue. Not benefiting from our own offensive buffs is one thing (which is not to say I wouldn't mind this fixed as well), but dying/living through a mechanic on the other hand is a binary outcome with very serious consequences - I don't see any reason why our defensive utility should be crippled like this when it can make or break your survival.

Personally, I find everything about Troubador to be clunky.
Raid-wide damage reductions are a slippery slope. Either they're not necessary at all (which is why you almost never see tanks popping limit break), or you force raids to bring the class that has them.

I actually wish they'd just rework Troubador entirely.
Maybe make it reset the cooldown on our songs? Or perhaps triple the duration of the current song?
Since certain songs are much better than others in specific situations (like Ballad for AoE), that could add a bit of strategy instead of the mindless cycle.

I absolutely agree with this! I can understand (though don't agree with) the crit buff and battle voice not working on the bard. But the aoe damage reduction must work on everyone or it is stupid. Also, since you really don't have a ton of control over which song you're playing when the big move comes out, if feels kind of clunky that there are different effects for different songs. For example: Boss sends out huge magic aoe damage but you are stuck on Army's Paeon and everything else is on cooldown. I would love to see some sort of improvement to this ability.

Not getting any of the raid wide buffs we are providing to the rest of the raid is really a bit of a hit, not just the defensive effects of Troubadour. Especially since Dragoon now has more competition with SAM sitting around, we aren't getting our piercing debuff and battle litany like we used to that as so important due to how crit important the job is. It just takes so much work to do comparable DPS now.

I would just like confirmation that this is working as intended more than anything. Im ok with the 2% crit buff being everyone but us because we have our own song uses, but I dont see why battle voice wouldn't affect us as well.

Well, you basically do have confirmation with the 2% crit and Battle Voice.
Look at the Text for Refresh: Gradually restores own MP and the MP of all nearby party members.
It specifically says "own AND party"
Now look at the text for Battle Voice: Increases direct hit rate of all party members ....
Or the crit effect on our songs: Increases Critical Hit rate of all party members ....
Neither of them mention "own".

But Troubadour is an oddity because even though you don't get the crit buff from your songs, you do get the second "additional effect".
And Troubadour says "adds an additional effect" and doesn't mention either own or party, so it's possible it's actually meant to effect us and isn't working properly.

would like the +2% crit, but not having our RAID WIDE defensive work on us is just stupid. it means someone else has so cd us, as we cd the raid wtf.

I agree. It's terrible. Same with Battle Voice and our crit buff - why the hell aren't these buffs effecting us as well?

Like every artist, the bard doesn't appreciate their own music but admires others' ... :(
So, we only get buffs from other bards and never from our own music.

if they could add the crit buff and battle voice to the mix I would be a bit happier with the job that I main since 2.5 that I might drop because of the bad buff management and poor dps
