The "40 interactive furnishings" softcap doesn't appear to be prioritizing correctly.

While the interior housing decoration limits were doubled with the 4.0 patch, the patch notes warns "When 40 or more interactive furnishings are near a character, only the 40 closest furnishings will be displayed.".

Either this is not functioning correctly, or the priority of items being displayed needs some common sense adjustments.

I have ~40 interactive furnishings in my cottage, spread around both the upper and lower floor in a reasonable fashion (rather than all 40 of them being clumped in one location). Even when I have single interactive item in my field of view and within a foot of my character and camera, it won't display most of the time (unless I drop below 40 interactive furnishings).

Even if priority is entirely proximity based as the patch notes suggest, the results I'm seeing don't make any sense, as in this case the vanishing item is clearly closer to me than any of the other interactive furnishings spread throughout the house.

In reality this 40 interactive furnishing warning should rarely come into play in a house like mine. When I'm on one floor, the interactive furnishings on another floor should be the first ones to vanish (if needed). And if I'm looking in a particular direction, interactive furnishings behind me should be given less priority than the ones in my field of view. I should never really come across this problem unless I've gone and placed 40 interactive furnishings in my unobstructed field of view.

As you can see in the example pictures below, there are two interactive objects vanishing from view (the painting on the wall and the orchestrion in the door), despite the fact that a majority of my ~40 interactive furnishings are spread out elsewhere in the cottage, out of view, and thus much better choices to cease displaying.

Again, the above are just examples of the sort of odd behavior I'm seeing throughout my cottage.

I've always been curious since running into these issues, what about the interactive objects causes them to disappear. I would think at most they count as two objects instead of one, but the problem exists even if they're the only ones in the house so it can't be that they're going over the possible items that a system can handle loading at one time.

Yeah the item culling is REALLY HORRIBLE. I wish flower vases weren't interactive after you stick flowers in them because hey, I don't want to change my flowers later. That vase is what, 2k? 500gil? From the vendor? I'll buy another vase to avoid these issues. And boy would I love not-interactive food, I don't want people eating my decor anyways.

Yeah the item culling with certain items seems to be really odd.

Paintings by far and above seem to be the largest offenders here followed by vases / flowerpots and food, I wish there were a way to turn them into static objects once a frame has been filled so they no longer count towards the limit, it's a rather strange issue.

This. One billion times this. Once I put an item like food or a picture frame down.. let me turn it into a non-interactive item please SE. I am using it to decorate, I would like for it to actually stay visible. -_-

I just wanted to say that as of the latest update (4.01) this bug still exists. Even when most of the interactive objects are on the other side of the house the items above (in the first post) still vanish from sight, even when they're closest to my character and my camera. That seems to be counter to the way this was explained to us ("only the 40 closest furnishings will be displayed").

OMG... is this the issue???? EVERYTHING keeps disappearing in our FC house. Go to use/ move something, it's gone. Try to reangle, there for a second, then gone. Try to move something... disappears while moving it.

This has been driving me up the wall. This so needs to be fixed.

Yep, it's been an issue for awhile now. For whatever reason the interactive furniture around 40+ will cause things to disappear. If you want to put a stop to it you have to widdle down your interactables until things stop disappearing.

Would be nice to have option to convert most interactive to non interactive in order to ease the disappearing objects that plague my fc home.

I personally ,would do so with the majority of my interactive items.

I never turn off the lamps, wouldn't need to change paintings, the floor devices don't even stay on so having them interactive is moot to me anyway.

Items like fc chest, crystal bell and summoning bell could be restricted so they couldn't be turned "off"

I think the only "vanity" type of interactive I would keep on is the aquarium...maybe...but tbh I don't have an urge to change 3 fish daily Oo

Oddly enough, food items that have been completely used (leaving only the plates, cups, utensils, etc behind) still count towards the interactive limit even though these items can no longer be interacted with.

I was really hoping that this would be fixed when they increased the item limits in our houses. 40 is such a small number when you consider just how many items have some sort of interaction.

Well.. the 40 item limit would be less restricting if it functioned as described. If you have 60 interactive items in your house and the 40 closest to your character are rendering, chances are decent you won't notice the 20 interactive items that aren't rendering (because barring some crazy setup they'll probably be elsewhere in your home and out of sight anyway).

That's how it's supposed to work, but it's not. I can't describe the actual behavior as random because it seems to consistently pick the same items in my house to drop from view, but it's definitely not choosing them on the basis of what's furthest away from my character.

How do we get the attention of a Community Rep to let us know if this bug is being looked at?

I just crafted 5 Great Gubal Floor Lamps today to give my house a little change, since I have a library in my basement. And I was sick of all those glade floor lamps everywhere.

I knew about the 40 items limit and some items, mostly food, disappeared already in my house.

But now I placed my very first Great Gubal lamp... and it was gone even before I could turn it. And at that point my character was just standing in front of a plain wall with NO interactive items in my view. I was really angry about this, considered how expensive/rare the materials for that lamp are.
I will write a bug report myself too. I really don't get why SE keeps adding more cool stuff like the picture frames, flower vases, flower planters... yes and even the food. And it's all interactive. Should I fill my house only with chairs and tables or what? So I think only retainer bell, armoire, aquarium and all that stuff should be really interactive. Maybe some fancy toy as well.

We really need an interactive/noninteractive toggle...as others have said, I didn't put that food out for the buff. I have better food to use.

The items that get culled in my house are three paintings, one on the main floor and 2 upstairs. They only appear when I'm right up next to them. You would think that maybe the showerhead in the basement or some of the vases would get culled so I could see those, but nope. It's only those 3 paintings, too.

My bug report actually got answered this time but they just said they don't understand what furniture I'm having an issue with and I should resubmit it again with more details. Unless they don't understand what "interactable" what means (how could they be that uninformed?), I'm not sure how I can make it more clear that it's NOT just 1 specific piece of furniture, it just seems like they skimmed it without reading my explanation :/

reproduce the bug and take screenshots of it? do that with every item that disappears and add it to the bug report?

With the new interactive wall furnishings and the number of people trying to use them, this bug is becoming all the more obvious. It's difficult to believe the developers can't reproduce the problem as it's pretty impossible to avoid once you go over the 40 item limit.

Like dusty suggested before on another thread, those "once satisfied then forget" furniture like the new blank partition/paintings/vase should be isolated into a separate UI menu like dyeing of furniture. Even if SE managed to increase the interactive limit to the furniture cap, this will still be an issue. Imagine you have 3 blank partitions, with multiple painting hang on said partitions, then you have an essential interactive furniture like the summoning bell place right next to it... Well, I don't know about you kb+mouse users, but I can say with confidence that it will be one pain in the arse for a controller player to select the bell.

Just wanted to point out this is still a problem.

There should be a stove and a wine bottle visible across the room there. There should also be a second blank partition next to the windows. All I get to see is the dango plate on the counter. Why are the stove and wine bottle hidden from me when I'm on this floor? Why not cull the paintings upstairs or the work stations downstairs until I actually go there? It's always the same items that disappear too and it's nearly always the big ones. It's very frustrating and yet every patch they add more and more interactive items.

The kitchen does not appear as it should until I am pretty much right in front of it. The Paissa doll disappears sometimes, but the lunch and fruit basket never do, much like the dango platter doesn't.

I'll bump this thread as well, my girlfriend and I recently got a large mansion with the new wards in the housing district. We had great plans for the layout and were working on the basement with those blank partition walls, even being conservative with the amount of them we STILL managed to hit the limit that starts that awful ghosting issue. That limit is so low and atrocious, they need to either make the walls have a switch that makes non-interactive or increase the limit because this small amount of them entirely defeats the point of having those walls in the first place.
