The servers can only handle so many logged in at once. You will have a que to login as long as there are a lot of people playing, will take some time for those who came back for Stormblood to take a break again.
There aren't any "login restrictions" except the ones that are always in place to maintain server stability...
Won't end until after their ill-timed "Welcome back" campaign finishes. That would be July 20th.
Every time a tank fails the sword part of Susano HM they add an hour
lol 30 mins when ppl from balmung wait hours, max of 4.
can't transfer if you can't ever login. :^)
It's getting pretty redic waiting 2+ hours to get into game this far after the launch. Sure you can say 'leave the server' but after building a community for 4 years playing the game and enjoying the larger populated environment that my server gives it's a bit unfair to be told 'just leave' knowing I can't even come back if I change my mind. It's really disheartening to know that the solution right now is 'move' rather than fixing healthy sized servers that already exist - or allocate more resources to these servers like housing districts all being the same size despite drastic population differences.
I adore this game and team that runs it but I've been concerned about how this is being dealt with by simply telling the players to fix the problem and disperse from their communities. I'm sure some people with less ties will take this offer and it might alleviate SOME of the issue but it's kind of like putting a band-aid over a big gash.
The AFK exploiters has become so bad that SE needs to step in and patch it so being afk while doing anything will kick you out and change it so the second you get the afk status it boots you.
Even on Balmung HW it wasn't exploited like this and queue went very fast, now even at 1800 queue after 2 hours its down to 900 because half the server has people afking and staying on the server 24/7
i made this in honour of all the balmungians

Agreed. During HW I can recall a few times where I waited an hour but only if I came on at around 6-7pm on a Friday and it never bothered me because, in general, my queues were 20-30 mins. That is short enough that I can grab a snack, a shower, get comfy and its ready to go. Two hours? That makes it almost impossible to play, let alone play with friends unless your schedules match perfectly. For example I get off at 6pm, spend two hour logging in but then when my friend gets off at 8:30, we've got at least an hour and a half before they can get in as well so we've burned most the night waiting in queues. God forbid you DC, have your internet blip out for half a second etc and most of this is caused by people dodging the AFK timer. The most telling part for me has been that as the actual queue starts to wane a bit around 1am-2am, my FC suddenly can't get into our house any more due to 'server load'. Why? Because half the population is hiding in their homes running at walls so no one reports them.
they need to do the opposite to Balmung as to what they did in FFXIV 1.0. They merged two worlds into Balmung in 1.0). It looks to me, they need to split Balmung into two worlds again and do it the same way:
Give them your world preference. This way entire guilds and friends will go to the same world.
I know Balmung has more people then Gilgamesh, but 4 hours seems a little excessive. This is coming form someone on Greg too. The most I have waited is 45 minutes.
It's a self feeding cycle of pain and misery. People don't want to wait in the queue so they fight to stay logged on, which makes others wait in queue longer to get on to do stuff. This entire queue thing is a nightmare for those working regular jobs as well because basically you have to start the login process when you arrive home and hope by the time the evening routine is done you get on for at least an hour.
Every 1k in line is about an hour or a bit more. Right now, I'm 4.1k and it is 6pm and I won't be on until 10.
It's getting ridculous honestly. I've been patient enough but it's been over a week since SB has been out [EA]
and nothings changed, at all. Hard reset Balmung everyday or something or fix the AFK crafters.
It feels like folks moving did nothing for Balmung because of the AFKers. I wish it was reportable. We can't
even go into our apartments. Even when we finally log in, you have to pray to the twelve you don't
get the near inevitable 90k. Just tiresome already.
I'm seeing a lot of complaints that people can't get online to play, followed by a lot of complaints that "this long" after release it shouldn't be so bad.
If nobody can get online to make progress, it's gonna take longer for people to get done what they want to get done.
The fact of the matter is people like the larger servers and refusing to accommodate for them is not great - splitting everything up into tiny sized servers is not going to be a fix in that these are healthy communities and people chose the server a lot because it has a history and is one of the largest.
Ontop of everything, it has been awhile since launch - at least to have problems of this degree. I say given a 90k/dc which happens pretty frequently leads to a 2hr+ queue over and over again rendering the game almost unplayable a lot of the time. Things were never anywhere near this bad when HW came out and frankly I don't think it's only because of afkers - the game is more populated in general now and it's feeling the strain it feels like.
I wouldn't be complaining if the queue was actually moving.
The problem is, the queue isn't moving.
I was disconnected while I was cooking dinner at around 5:45 and came back to a 3.7k queue. There were periods where I sat at a single spot in excess of ten to fifteen minutes. It's ridiculous. Square Enix seriously needs to either add disconnection forgiveness to give people the ability to log back in (or get priority in the queue) if they're able to get back within two minutes, or they need to fix the exploit allowing people to stay logged in by talking with NPCs.
I would move off of Balmung in a heartbeat if my Free Company would move, as well, and if the server we were going to had a sizable roleplaying population, but Square has yet to provide an adequate incentive for entire Free Companies to move off of congested servers.
My friends and I have left Balmung and we haven't regretted it. Honestly, the cross server PF makes Gilgamesh obsolete as the "Raider server" IMO.
Got a random 90k around 4:30 Pm Eastern my 4k queue let me back in at 9:10 pm Eastern. Now I cant even queue for anything. My leveling tank queue is more than 30 minutes.
What SE needs to do, if they're not going to enforce the afk timer and ban people for exploiting, is to periodically take down any zone server with a retainer bell in it and purge the game of the 100s to 1000s of afk players. Cities, housing wards, housing interiors, and the endgame hubs all taken down every 45 minutes with system warnings broadcasted every 5 minutes starting at 30 minutes until zone refresh.
Just got 90k after waiting for 2 1/2 hours, now back in a 2.5k queue to log in.
Can't play, but I pay.
Thank you.
As a long time player on Balmung I'm actually considering moving off the server due to the queue times. This is going to potentially be repeated over and over as content gets released and new expansions come on the horizon unless SE does something really drastic. It really sucks that in order to play the game we are paying for we have to move from a server we've been a part of since the very start, but this is impossible to deal with under normal living conditions.
Just don't make the mistake of transferring to a designated/new world, or you're running in the same exact issue. Well ok not as bad as with balmung and gilgamesh, however queue times are going up and down, specially on weekends on these servers as well. And on top of that, you get slapped with the 90 day transfer penalty, having some people still stuck in queue's of 1+ hour, or bad latency since they didn't check prior. I personally can say, even so I don't like Levi, I have a queue time from instant up to 5 minutes, mostly I am 15-45th in queue lol, meantime over on gilgamesh, I can't even log my alt in. Constant dc's or hours of waiting. Guess I try in a month or so.
This thread:
SE: The stove is hot.
Balmung&Gilgamesh players: *Puts hand on hot stove and cries.*
SE: We said it was hot. First aid is in the bathroom. Go take care of yourself. We need to cook.
Balmung&Gilgamesh players: No! You hurt us, so you fix it!
Yes, because playing with my friends on the server I started on is totally self harm and SE taking money for people to get around character creation restrictions totally does not give them any responsibility in this.
I'm not sure what the stove is in this analogy. Is it creating a character on the server? If so, I take full responsibility for creating a character in 2010 when the servers were dead. Had I only the foresight not to build a community of friends on Balmung! My hubris has ruined me!
My community of friends moved. the ones who stayed we still do stuff with through party finder. if you say "but i have 100 friends and 8 linkshells with 128 people in them" well, thats your choice. I doubt you play with all of them on a daily basis. While you guys have all been "but my server" the rest of us have been playing the game.
Even when I started, the first day I started was Dec 1 2013 and there were no indications that Balmung was congested or would be until later in 2014. Sorry that I'd made friends with hundreds of people who were there since launch and when Balmung hadn't even existed yet.
My friend told me I chose the worst time in 2 years to start playing the game.
Forever locked out of cerb.
