MCH has some really insane burst. I think you are just playing it wrong.
SE really need to understand that a PVP system cannot be simply build upon skills that just deal instant damage to the opponent without any visual component allowing for counterplay. As long as FFXIV's PVP remains as it is it simply will not be taken seriously.
According to those that trashtalked pvp and SE, it was always a bunch of super elite people ruling over a mass of average players. Actually, there used to be lots of differents levels of skill amongst players. The new pvp, by removing all the tools we had, reducing dramatically the gap between the top and the bottom, and all those players in the middle that had a decent knowledge of the use of their tools got hit harshly by this. I think the best pvpers will always do better than the rest and make their own skills valuable, but those in the middle got dragged down by this.
In short terms, bring back our tools SE, having to choose between a 60 min sprint or purify or HP/TP recovery, or cc resistance is not fun at all, having no cc and just being a 1-2 with no utility with most jobs isn't what you can call diversity.
Communication wins pvp...it seems this game, from my meger experience have none on either side therefore its total random Chaos zerg.
Before I thought I would trade anything for faster queues. I was wrong, I want the old PvP back. The new pvp is lame.
I don't understand the new PvP changes. I just don't.
I still play PvP but it's painfully one dimensonal. The only time I get really excited is when I get pulled back by three dark knights in succession. Man, what a rush!
The new pvp has been dumbed down to the core. Seems SE is trying to make it a E Sport. It sucks, sucks , sucks, Then it sucks some more. WTF SMN does not even have a real pet. I mean really WTF?
I just hate the AFKers/bots in PvP it's always been an ongoing issue that'll always be a plague but today it was so bad that me and my 3 friends had a 3v9 and they all stood around on their mount and did nothing. I don't mind the new PvP it's refreshing to me but the AFKers and people wanting to leech and level off it is just too much and isn't fun.
I won't comment on the balance of the new system. I will just say it's sooooo boring to me.
Literally spam the same 2-3 buttons over and over and include the occasional oGCD from time to time when you have enough TP/gauge.
The number of abilities in PvE has been reduced and that's fine, but these PvP changes are just too much. I don't really enjoy having only 4-5 relevant skills to press in a slow-paced game like FFXIV.
Astro is in a pretty bad place atm for pvp. Sch is good for feast, as broil cripples the other healer, whm dominates FLs with its superior heals, and astros... can't control the cards they get anymore. I love 3 spires in a row when everyone has full tp /s. To those people who say "but but, astros have good instant heals now!" They had better ones before, you could choose when to use your instant heal proc before, and now you can't, and you just burn mana faster now.
Healing feels dull, clunky, and like a chore now.
Wrong! Everything was based on who was stacking the most: CC lockdowns, ranged dps, mage LBs, BRD/MCH one click kills or invincible ASTs.
I disagree with most of your viewpoint. I love the new PVP. Melee dps seem to be getting a second life in there. Yes it is much simpler now, but classes were not designed for PvP initially and therefore created a balancing mess of countless twisted and sometime useless PVE actions. The new PVP framework allows SE to level all the classes and fix the PVE classes "frankenstined" into PVP. Granted it can use some adjustments, which i am sure will come in the next patch or 2.
I understand that the old complexity was attractive, but it messed up the ranged vs melee game so bad... i dont think it was really fixable without a full rework for every single new thing added to the game.
Are we talking about the same pvp...? Let's not even talk about FL for pvp balance, it has never been, and still isn't balanced. The only way to make it balanced atm would be to have a fixed quota of ranged/melee for each GC. No good player ever took FL seriously. I'm saying that because aside from the MCH/BRD one shot argument, none of your points are valid for ranked Feast.
Melee was always (save NIN) the class that impacted matches the most, the exception being MCH for ranged.
The other way around, from a DRG/MNK/SMN point of view (what I mained) there were more skills I didn't use in pve and that found great use in pvp.
This new pvp is the real abomination though, will it keep people entertained long enough...? Casual players will be casual players, they come here today with praise but in two months few how many of them will be on the leaderboards?
There will be fixes, a form of balance might be attained, but pressing a 1 1 1 combo for a whole season....? lol
The previous pvp had many flaws, but player skill/awareness meant a lot. They could have simplified it, but pve itself in SB was simplified already, would it have been so hard to apply it to pvp? While keeping some of the good ideas they implemented with the new pvp, like same stats for everyone and same additional skills.
Kinda thinking the same thing. But queues approved after Garo, and with the exp incentive I'm sure the queues wouldn't be as horrible as they were.
This is actually my biggest gripe. Now PvP and PvE are 2 different games, or at least the jobs do not feel the same. I understand it's hard to design these kind of games around PvE and PvP at the same time, especially how they make all PvE (that matters) fighting against HP monsters with a gimmick/mechanic to learn. But still, disappointed they overhauled PvP completely. Imagine the reaction if they did this to PvE...
Jump is to apply damage for pressure & to assist in establishing kills. Getting kited after jumping is tbh a newbie Dragoon moment. If you position yourself right you can lead your jump to continue your rotation. Even than you have Spineshatter, bolt or Elusive Jump to help you gap close your target anyways. BOTD continues when you fire geirskogul/nastrand so im not exactly seeing the problem here. If you are having problems keeping your BOTD up, its either you are casting it way too early or you arent sticking to a target long enough to hit your 4/4 hit.
The gaze I can see being a trigger but tbh if I had 3 stacks to get a dragon, all it would take is 1 rotation, 1 jump and 1 Spineshatter dive and I can immediately lead into a burst.

Gonna disagree mch is really op in a 1v1 environment I say they have 90% win rate. They have a slightly slow build up but their burst is something that can be sustained. Another note blank shot can get insta kills if you know where to knock ppl off bait to edge stun and blank gg tanks. In the feast environment the heavy they have is amazing if you couple it with a drk unmend.
