Does FF6 take place in the world of Hydaelyn?

Is FF6 and FF14 the same world over 10,000 years later? Many small details point to yes.
- Magitek - Garleans developed their magitek based off the technology of the allagan. The Empire created magitek technology and has since then had several hundred years to continue advancing the tech until they themselves seemingly vanished from existence.
- Warring Triad - These exact same statues exist in both games. Same pose, same triangle to balance their power except the statue of Zurvan and Sephirot have switched places.

It doesn't. Eorzea is its own world, albeit with a ton of references to the other FF games.

- Landmass - The shape and position of land was greatly effected by the positioning of the statues of the Warring Triad. The Triad has been replaced into their triangle to balance their power however with 2 of them in switched location would explain small indescrepencies in how the land reformed. In some cases completely moving towns from the north side of a continent far off the coast to the south.
- Not far from Ala Mhigo is a ruin castle underground, much like Odin's castle in FF6.
- Galemald is in roughly the same location that Narshe would have been after the continents reformed.
- Doma although slightly misplaced is also in the same location it was before.
- Gridania built in the forest of the north western continent after having 10,000 years for the forest to expand in size.
- Ul'dah, a city of merchants being in the same location as Jidor which is the only town to have action house and bring in a heavy flow of merchants and wealthy people.

- Floating Continent having broken into pieces it never did crash down onto the surface. Instead it remained floating making up the lands of Sea of Clouds and Churning Mist. While the Empire (Allagan) recognize the dangers of the Warring Triad statues develop technology and use a few pieces of the floating continent to create Azys Lla and isolate it from the world.
- Doma - Same Kingdom in both games. While in FF6 Doma only had a small handful of survivors. The rebuilding of the kingdom would have revitalized the lore and history of that kingdom making it less likely for their history and name to have changed in 10,000+ years.
- Limsa Lominsa - Limsa's Island was once a den of rouges and thieves until pirates took over and began using it as a place to horde their treasure. eventually building a city there. Zozo was a city of thieves. Having not reconnected with its original landmass due to 2 of the Warring Triad having switched places became a perfect place for pirates to take over.

- Espers - In FF6 Espers already had a history of living with humans but then being betrayed by humans. Having been imprisoned and murdered so humans could steal their power. This led Espers to create a pocket dimension for themselves so they could live in peace.
However not all Espers fled there, such as Ramuh who understood humans better than the others and recognized that not all were murderous and evil. Which is why in FF14 Ramuh does not instinctively want to harm humans. Meanwhile the other Espers that did live in their own dimension will have had over 10,000 years of passed down history of species from the human dimension being vicious and evil wishing to harm them and steal their power. Thus making any Primals summoned immediately want to defend themselves from whomever summoned them.

- 12 Gods - FF6 had 14 characters, 2 of which were not human. Mog having regathered the moogles decides to take them to section of the flying continent (Churning Mists) to build a home for themselves. Umaro being the last of his species and aggressive by nature may have found a sub species of yeti to mate with. Leaving the 12 human characters who "saved the world". Through 10,000 years of stories passing into legend some of the specifics about these people would have been altered, leading to misinterpretations of their gender, familiarity with each other, tools they used, and hobbies. But still just enough details to connect them as the 12 Gods or Eorzea.

Hydaelyn is the name of the world. Eorzea isn't even the name of continent it's the name of the region. FF6 didnt even give a name to its world

Hydaelyn, Eorzea, you know what I mean. The world of XIV is a world of its own, and not directly related to any of the other FF games. Koji (or Yoshi-P) even directly stated this.

Besides, the landmass changes of in XIV weren't affected by the Hydaelyn's version of the Warring Triad. They were made by Bahamut raining destruction on the place after being freed from Dalamud. And just like there's a lot of references to VI, so are there a lot of references to XII as well. Namely the fact that it also had those amount of espers, the looks of Garleans like Gaius being heavily influenced by the Judges, and the fact that the upcoming raid is called "Return to Ivalice" (which is not directly related to XII, still.)

I get that you seemingly like VI, but VI has its own world, just like XIV has its own world.

He stood by it recently when asked about Return to Ivalice; Hydaelyn's cosmos is isolated (aside from pseudo-canon crossover fun) but he encourages us to wait until we've actually played Return to Ivalice to see how we feel about it and how we perceive what it does.

However there is a reference to the War of Magi which is also from FF6 and then there is the fact that every time there is a calamity it pushes into the next era. 7 Umbral era's and now 7 Astral era's. Which all these happen thousands of years in between each other. So who is to say that over the thousands of years between the 1st documented era's couldn't be each of the Final Fantasy games. And the Lore behind each era has been blurred because of so many years of reiteration after each calamity happening.

Because that's not what's happening. First off, the only time civilization flourishes into something new and distinct is typically the Astral Eras; the Umbral Eras are transitional periods. Second, we have three consecutive eras that we intimately know the history of - Sixth Astral (the ~1500 years leading up to and including 1.0), Seventh Umbral (the 5 years between 1.0 and the end of 2.0), and Seventh Astral (2.1 to present); that's three that can't be other Final Fantasy game plots. Third, while there are a few Astral Eras that we know very little about, there are two (aside from 6A, 7U, and 7A) that are exceptionally well documented: the third and the fifth. Let's take a look at those:

-The Third was the time of the Allagan Empire, an era whose artefacts we have regularly interacted with and whose history we know well enough to know that it was not another Final Fantasy game. But let's assume that we didn't for a moment. What Final Fantasy game do you reckon it was - would it be FFIII, due to the reign of Xande and the construction of the Crystal Tower? Would it be FFVI, due to the summoning and imprisonment of the Warring Triad? Would it be FFXIII, due to many Allagan enemies borrowing the appearance of ones from that game? You see the problem, of course - even if we pretend that the history is muddled and confused over time, the Third Astral Era borrows elements from so many Final Fantasy games that it would be impossible for it to actually be the plot of just one (which would be necessary for your theory to work).

-The Fifth Astral Era was the time of the War of the Magi, and is (relatively) recent history. Again, this is an era that has been heavily explored in-game, through Job Quests, Raids, Dungeons, the whole lot. We KNOW what the War of the Magi involved the nations of Amdapor, Nym, and Mhach; that the war drove the Elementals to flood the realm; the general history of everything after that flood. And the thing is, FFVI has a rather specific history as well - the plot takes place a thousand years after their War of the Magi, and we have a pretty good general idea of what was happening 1000 years after ours (it didn't involve an Empire seeking Espers and a crazy clown general ending the world). It's pretty safe to say the Wars of the Magi of FFVI and FFXIV are different events.

So yeah. Unfortunately, we do know enough about Hydaelyn's history to say that several of its Eras can't be the other numbered games in the franchise - and while there's always the chance that one or two of the lost Eras could be established as such, it's definitely not going to be FFVI, what with all the links occurring during times that are well-documented as distinct.

So now this brings up my other theory that Final Fantasy series is part of a giant multiverse. The reason I bring this up is because of the Warrior of Darkness story line. From how they describe their world being flooded by light is because it's a reference of the first Final Fantasy game. And the reason it's flooded with light is because once you beat the game and conquer the darkness the game ends, which I guess you can say is the also meant the end of their world. Also they do make a reference to the 13th realm being flooded by darkness which makes sense since the whole story of Lighting Returns is to save as many people as possible before their world is consumed by darkness. And as it stands FF14 is right in the middle of the spectrum since it's technically a story that is still ongoing and the fate of the world hasn't been decided to fall into darkness or brought into the light.

While yes, the FF universe is technically a multiverse, it's only connection point is the Interdimensional Rift.

The Warriors of Darkness came from another shard of Hydaelyn, not another FF world.

I already wrote about this in another thread but nothing bad about posting it again:

FF13 was consumed by chaos and the world stopped completely. People that died could not be reborn and waited as souls. At the end everything was consumed but everything started anew as a new universe. In FF14 the 13th shard was consumed by darkness and every people that lived there was transformed into void creatures and the void still exists. So it could not be FF13 simply because the void still exist in FF14, which was not the case in FF13. Also there was no mention of a ascian, WoL and Hydaelyn in FF13.

I never played the first FF game but in FF14 the 1th shard was not consumed by Light. The WoD came to our shard to stop this, so it was not to late for that. With our help Minfilia was able to go over and take the light back with her. Thus it was hinted that we saved the shard from being consumed. But if the world was destroyed at the end of the first FF then it could not be this shard, simply because it still exists.

Also FF is not over, we already have FF15 and probably more games along the way. Yet we still have only our source world and 13 shards.
