To the Astros out there...

So....the new gauge is nice and having the royal road affect in writing and the held card boldly displayed is nice. However.....and I am not entirely sure this is the correct thread to bring this up but it would be really nice if they would include the old "buff icons" so it would be easier to coordinate with another Astro in party. What's everyone's thoughts on this and where can I bring this up so it could hopefully get noticed. Thanks in advance :)

I definitely prefer the old buff icons to the new gauge. I also miss being able to click off a royal road in some circumstances such as stronger ewer and spire to a single target that needs it rather than a less effective AoE hitting people who dont need it for example.

It really drives my friend nuts, it is hard to coordinate without seeing them. 2 good astros know how to coordinate without talking to each other and it is necessary to know how to do so in difficult fights. They should put the old buffs on buff bar for other abilities too just so we know what is going on better.

Yeah I actually never knew I could click it off til I brought up this issue to another friend of mine. I mainly play on a controller and even though there is a mouse pad on it that I can move around and click things. I never knew I could click off the buff til this new expansion came out. Lol

Yeah I was super stoked with my bomb heal that I was telling my friend who her healing main is an Astro and I had to actually type out (setting down my controller) that I had a spread balance, which a min-two later she was like oh yeah I got a spread to. After that really just had to keep a lookout for when her spread was up or mine.

On topic, I too wish there was an option to switchback to the old buff icon view, I don't like the new job gauges, on no class, not just Ast.

This honestly drives me nuts. I hate not being able to tell what other astrologians are holding, and I can't stand not being able to click off a card when I don't want to use it. The job UI is fine, but please, bring the buff icons back too...

edit to address the post added when I was writing this one: While Undraw does have the same functionality, I'm nevertheless not fond of having to set a hotkey when right click used to work just as well. The option would be nice.

Have you tried using the /statusoff macro to remove the buff? They might've removed it from the buff bars but it might still be considered a buff.

This does need to be adjusted. It doesn't impact me because I don't play with other ast in the party. (If I do I change healer roles), but regardless it should still be adressed

The new gauge is horrible. Its aesthetically pleasing, for sure, but it tells you no new information.

You have to have Draw, Spread and minor on a CD bar anyway, because the new gauge doesn't tell you the CD of each of those abilities, which is crucial information to know with the new sleeve draw ability.
If I could, I would turn it off. You can see Draw, Spread and Minor arcanum via the skills anyway, and they tell you the CD of each skill after you've used them. But I have to keep it on to keep track of royal road.
The gauge should also show the CD of time dilation and CO IMO, as they are two CDs usually used with cards anyway.

I hope we get either buffs back or the simpler version of the gauge which is supposedly coming out before omega savage.

Well I can see how the "Undraw" works now, its supposed to help instead of waiting for the 1-2 second window for redraw, which you cant do anymore. The Astro gauge seems the most unnessary gauge but for the others I can see how they are more useful for tracking your oaths, lillies, songs, Sam, rdm and the extra timers they added into everyone's class. For new people Astro gauge is easier for them to comprehend what they have burned and held, but I was used to the old gauges and what they looked like so I knew.

They removed the ability to cancel a royal road buff and stated it was no longer possible in one of the job update pages sadly. :(

I haven't really played AST much, but I'm having trouble reconciling the ideas of "two ASTs coordinating buffs" and "Expanded Balance is the only thing you ever want to use, throw away everything else." Can someone help me out here?

They're not 'buffs' anymore.

They don't show up on the buff bar, and as they're not 'buffs' they can't be removed with the /statusoff command.

For some reason I was thinking even with two ASTs they'd just trade turns, but that all explains it perfectly, thank you.

On every job, I've moved the job gauge to the left or the right of the hotbar, and set them to 60% size. With AST I have it on the left beside the hotbar actions for the cards. I find I'm rarely looking at these gauges anyway.

I really dislike it aswell. Its very unnecessary and you lose too much information with it. Please let us turn it off, its useless.

I don't "dislike" the new gauge, but I DO think it's rather... space wasting and a tad unnecessary. I would suggest a toggle option - but some additional changes would have to be made, as the old mode allows for discarding saved and burnt cards whereas the new gauge does not.

It is kind newbie-friendly though, I guess. For a new player just starting out with AST it could get confusing to try and memorize all the possible Royal Road bonuses, and having it separate from your timed buffs is added visibility, which I guess might help them to like, not forget that cards are a core mechanic of AST and not just something to sit quietly in their buff bar.

I do miss the ability to discard saved or burnt cards, though... as a principle I dislike discarding drawn cards, so usually if I have a spire burnt and I draw, say, an ewer (while shuffle is on cooldown and I have something equally useless when spreaded, like an arrow), my only option is to put the card back and wait another 20 seconds to draw again, or to just go "screw it" and use it anyway, and get hardcore judged by anyone who is even remotely paying attention.

So... I'd like to either be able to discard burnt and saved cards, or, if this isn't possible, to have the "discard" skill shorten the cooldown on draw by a couple of seconds.

... But in doing this it would just improve even more the utility an AST can bring to a party, which is really, really good at this point, and would mess further with the already shaky healer balance.

I would like to thank the lord for the ability to resize UI elements. I think if I had to keep looking at my ridiculous aetherflow gauge at its initial size for too long my already diminishing enthusiasm for playing this job would just die out lmao

I miss them too, i can never tell what other ASTs are holding, and it's a huge guessing game.

Unless they did this to discourage AST stacking, i don't know why they had to ditch the buff icon.

ya... the Icons are WAY Better noticable on your char + status and 100x better than that stupid gauge system <-< I dont even know what card I just drew -.- It rather makes me stop using cards at all!

I like the new gauge but I agree that we need to: A) Be able to see what cards another AST in the party has and B) Need to be able to take off Royal Road and Spread cards (Minor Arcana isn't bad because it only has a 5 second cooldown).
